If nothing's shown up on x-rays, then it's less likely it's something with the bone (like a spur or tension fracture) and more likely something with the soft tissue, or possibly cartilage. I would bet on the soft tissue. It sounds like tendonitis I've had before, or possibly burcitis (no, I don't know how to spell that.)…

From how I understand it, failing to eat 1100-1200 cals once or twice won't put you in it, but doing it for a bit will. And my old family doctor said it was total, not net. But that was also a while ago. Anyone else got anything more recent?

Last week I saw a died in the wool, banged up pick up truck, good-ol-boy with a Texas license plate rolling down the street blasting "Telephone". I blinked. GaGa is universal. I'm in!

One of the great things about this site is that there are so many people with so many stories, and all of them are ready and willing to support you. While it may give calorie goals, help you figure out planning, and is massively accessible (I have it on my smartphone, too) really the best thing is the people. That's what…

I'm kind of in the same boat. The prob is, different things work for different people. However, you have an advantage you may not have thought of...you're a college student. Most college and university campuses provide access to councilors and real psychology professionals free of charge. (Well, not free because you pay…

For me, the dreaded word is planning. The not so dreaded word is support. I agree that weekdays are easy because they're much more structured, makes it much easier to plan what you're eating around the rest of your schedule. If you can apply a touch of that weekly planning to the more fluid weekend (at least for food) it…

It depends on how much below your goal you are. Too few calories will make your body think you're starving yourself and it will do what it has to in order to keep you alive. Namely, packing away all it can. If you're not sure where you're cut off is, you probably want to check with a pro. What my trainer has told ME is…

I've always heard that it's less about when you stop eating and more about the time between then and when you go to bed. Basically, you burn more calories when you're awake than when you're asleep so if you eat within a certain time before sleeping more of those calories don't get used and go to storage. Now, if what…

Like others have said, 1to 1&1/12 pounds per week is the healthy way to loose weight. Loose much more than that and you can throw your body into all kinds of fits that will just lead to either some serious health problems or simply rebounding and putting it back on. Methods that help you loose weight super quick tend to…

Been reading this thread and I think its awesome. I'm new to this site myself and so far I have found it amazing, and the people on it even more so. So many times I have tried to loose weight for all the wrong reasons, and it never works. In the end it just ends. I think people quit their diets because they're just that, a…

I gotta agree with Hearts Desire... after talking with my doctor, one of my own problems with previous diet methods was that I cut calories down too far. Eating only 500 calories (or less) a day puts your body in what's called "starvation mode". This means that your body thinks it's dying and will hold onto every single…
