That sounds like a very frustrating predicament. I'm sorry. If I were in your situation, I would readjust my calorie intake. If you're currently taking in enough to do so, you could try decreasing your calories by a couple hundred. Also, I wouldn't weigh myself too often... that could do more damage than good if you see…

Thanks guys! These were some excellent ideas, and I definitely put a few of them to use. I'm happy to report that I was a good girl and finished out the night on target! What ended up helping was to exercise, drink some water, eat a nice big salad, and get my mind focused on other activities. Thanks for your responses,…

I agree with some of the others about increasing your calorie limit... You should probably focus on 2000 cals becoming your goal, or possibly more if you're an intense exerciser, but don't jump right into that number- increase your intake gradually. Really what you truly need to do is go talk to your doc about it. He'd be…

Congratulations! That must feel amazing! Keep it up!

I don't care for light mayo, but I do love the light miracle whip. It's 20 calories per tablespoon and I've come to love it for tuna salad! I'm sure chicken salad would be good as well, but I tried to make egg salad with it the other day and I wouldn't suggest that one.

This to me means you're living somewhere much warmer than I am... and I envy you. I wish I had flies. Instead I have over a foot of snow. :grumble:

Good point!! This is very true. Too much water flushes the sodium out of your system and throws things out of whack. I think it takes a LOT of water in a very small amount of time to do that, but still, it's possible. One of the things I've always been told is to never chug water when you're trying to take in a certain…

LMAO!!! I'm the same way! But to be honest, the people here are way more interesting and sociable than all my "friends" on myspace combined. Plus, checking in after every meal and snack might be a little obsessive, but it's a great way to stay motivated.

I'm gonna regret saying this, but I'm voting for a water challenge- if not now then sometime in the near future. I've been actively losing weight for six weeks now and not one day have I even tried to drink a full bottle of water, much less the minimum requirement. I know I'll do good with it after a few days of forcing…

I forget all the time. And sometimes when I remember I just don't do it. I think for a lot of people like me, it's definitely something you have to set a goal for, just like your calorie limit and exercise goal.

Personally, if I want to treat myself to something every now and again, I do so. So long as I stay within calories, I feel it's totally justifiable. A couple of weeks ago I had a pumpkin pie blizzard. I ate every bite of the seven hundred calorie treat, and still managed to stay within my calories for the day. My dietician…

I'm too am just coming back after several months of fattening myself back up. :grumble: Don't be too hard on yourself. When you bring a new baby into the house, you have to totally redefine your life and sense of normalcy, so I can imagine trying to diet and work out immediately afterwards was quite a challenge. Maybe…

Thanks a lot everyone!!!! I'll definitely be looking into a lot of these suggestions to find out which ones will work for me. I currently use the Walk Away the Pounds videos, so those will be good to switch out with a few of the others I choose to do. Thanks again! These are all very helpful.

Whoa! When I first read that I was shoveling a bite of egg into my mouth. I had to tell myself that the carton is not lying to me to sabotage my diet! LoL  Eggs generally average around 75 cals. Check the portion size that you calculated, and if that's right then choose a different egg entry from the list, cuz…

Candy isn't a huge downfall for me, but I do enjoy it occasionally. I was thinking of trying something another member suggested yesterday and making little 100 or 200 cal packs with the candy. That way I can have something different in place of my usual 100-200 cal snacks. I'll make up some for my son, too.

Personally, all I need is a place to meet others who know what I'm going through. Occasional challenges sound like fun, and maybe weekly weigh-ins (though I think if individuals would rather not weigh in on that particular day or even that particular week they should be allowed to use the numbers from their most recent…

Jeremy, your weight loss astounds me! How wonderful for you, and what an inspiration you'll be for us all! I, too, am in the midst of a 6 month program for weight loss surgery- only I'm hoping for the LAP band as opposed to gastric bypass. I just began my sixth week working under the supervision of a dietician, and she's…

Congrats on your previous weight loss. I, too, am dealing with a similar problem, though my weight never got that low. In Oct. of last year I was weighing in just under 230. By August of this year I topped out over 290. I can't believe I let it get so bad, and it was doubly disappointing knowing I was so close to my goal…

I stay home with my soon-to-be 3 y/o son but am hoping to finally go back to work at the beginning of the year.

I haven't used fitday but I've used other sites besides this one, and MFP is by far the best one in my experience. That's my favorite part about the site, too! That little button is amazingly inspiring. Welcome:flowerforyou:

Ah! It's soooo hard to resist in a situation like this. Way to go!!!

It's really a wonderful tool. It definitely helps me keep myself motivated throughout the day.

Hi and good luck!

Good job!

That's interesting! I had never heard it explained this way before. Makes a lot of sense.

Exercising like that is going to help develop muscle definition, which is a great thing. You just have to remember that muscle mass weighs more than fat, so as you drop the fat, you might not see the scale reflecting it because of building muscle. Also, I don't think you need to adjust your diet. It sounds like your…

I'll join. I NEED to lose about 120 more pounds, but I'm just taking it pound by pound and setting mini goals along the way. I'm following a pretty basic low cal diet and seeing a dietician.

you could always just do a simple sandwich and salad, or maybe your favorite brand of frozen dinner. look around your kitchen- you'd be amazed at what all you can actually fit into three hundred calories!

You could try taking a small snack with you to work- not much, just a 100 cal pack or something. Have it an hour or so before you're going to head home. That way, when you get home you're not quite so famished, and it would be easier to avoid making the wrong decision.
