That's a great explanation on the calorie allocation for a new MFPer!

Loser4sure, You've got a great goal! Keep looking forward and tracking your progress and you'll break that 3lb cycle. My wife has similiar goals. She wants to build herself up a Marathon! Again always look forward! Bruce

there is a 1/4 mile cement track around the inside of the "Boardwalk". Somedays the air is a bit "foul" but it can be done. I just run. It's what I like to do. The extra heat just works more calories out. Bruce

I am not amazing. I have a runners body already. I am trying to offset 17 years of slow weight gain to get back to my wedding day weight. What is hurting me is that I have a low % of body fat at the moment, so trying to burn those remaining 11lbs is going to be pretty difficult for me. I may be asking for the groups…

perhaps a little early to "officially" weigh-in but I jumped on the scale this afternoon and found I was at 171. And this was after I found out how much sodium was in one dill pickle! Lets just say that item won't be repeated on the menu tracker during this challenge! Another 55 minutes of running and walking today. 110…

Running in 100+ heat down here in Kandahar is twice the workout in half the time! I wouldn't recommend it but does give a good burn... Not sure if the extra heat causing excess sweating during the run counts as double on the calorie counts on MFP but I'll stay with the regular count of calories. Bruce

My wife had a couple of crosses done on one of her ankles to mark each time I was deployed away from her and the family. When I was staging again to go back overseas to Afghanistan, I asked her if she was going to put another cross on for the upcoming deployment. She replied, "Only if its with a Sharpie." Thus, I think an…

I'll never drop the coffee out of my diet choices. It is what is called "Lifer's Juice" in the American military. Black, strong and always on the burner. Bruce

"I am in charge of my life." Do it in Latin, Chinese, French, or just plain old English. As long as you realize that this motto will help you keep and maintain your own lifestyle. Bruce

I'm runner by training and choice when it comes to working out so my one hour jogs burn the calories but I keep forgetting (2 days in a row now, duh! slaps forehead) to put some weight in my hands when I run. I intended to hold a couple of 16oz water bottles as I ran today but of course, I remembered 10 minutes into the…

Showing my age a little bit here but I use mostly AC/DC songs on the Mp3 player when I go jogging. The beat of their songs are perfect for my pace at 6mph and 6.5 mph on the treadmill as well. I put the drum beat on my right foot and I can run for as long as I have power for the MP3. Considering I have nearly 10 hours of…

Great Post. I also think a firm, even squeeze of a pistol trigger will end most rapist ambitions. I also recommend aiming for between the SOB's legs. But hey, I'm in the military. I prefer a more fitting solution to the problem of cavemen running around...Eunuchs. Bruce

Pennywise is the man! Awesome!

I easily made the daily water intake but had already done my workout prior to your posting about the ankle weights. I'm in Afghanistan so I'm pouring the water in me everyday to counter the heat so my water count is about double what you are asking for to stay properly hydrated. I'll start adding a 16oz bottle of water in…

I'm focusing on working on my daily tracking as well as exercising and getting on the scale once a week. This way, I'll develop better control over my intake without being stressed about what the weight on the scale may say. My weight plan calls for a pound a week so trying to overanalyze 16ozs every day would be…

I'm Dramaligre's husband and will be joining tomorrow as well for my own challenge. :) see you tomorrow for more details. Bruce

That is my wife! And I am proud of her! Bruce

focus on upper girdle strength training to firm and develop the pectoral muscles but don't forget to continue your other exercise plans. pushups and dips are easy exercises to review and start doing and don't require buying expensive equipment either. Bruce

I'm working to remove fast food junk out of my diet. I gained 20 lbs in a year of minimal exercise (sitting in a cubicle) and daily fast food. I've since lost 18 lbs in the last 10 months and I intend to lose 12 more to bring me back to my wedding weight (17 years ago) with a little more focus here courtesy of MFP. My wife…

Congratulations!!!! Excellent to meet your first goal with your plans to continue as well! Bruce

My wife has joined (she is on my friend list) and we will be joining a challenge group together for the summer. This way we can have an intermediate goal enroute to out final goal for next year. I've promised her a Caribbean cruise and few other personal rewards if she makes her desired goal in 18 months. I hope to use…

Hello! I joined to help support my wife who has joined today as well. I decided to put myself down for a goal as well. it never hurts to work towards being healthier. I've already added a days worth of meals and exercise (I'm currently in Afghanistan so I'm several hours ahead of the US at this point) and already I see…
