  • Thanks. That, and a little math, did the trick for me.

  • I don't see a problem. Remember you won't be pumped and posing most of the time!
  • I'm no expert but, from personal experience, it really does. My wife and I stopped using "everyday" dishes at all as they promote the idea that eating is no big deal and we want our meals to be mini-events. Restaurants go through a lot of research to use the dinnerware that most complements their offerings and you should…
  • I'm surprised no one has mentioned a loud and/or high pitched whistle in their self-defense arsenal. It not only startles the attacker but lets others in the area know that something unusual is going on. If you're not sure you'd be able to power it in an emergency there are whistles available that are powered by compressed…
  • Polar has a large variety of HRMs with a wide price range to go with them. I've been using them for, at least, 3 years (a fairly low-end one) and my wife has the next level up. We like Polar because they work with most exercise equipment to let you monitor your heart rate as you use the equipment. The only drawback is that…

  • There is no such thing as healthy soda. A lot of them use high fructose corn syrup and synthetics sweeteners. All of them, including those labeled "diet" contain carbolic acid which the body has no use for. We've given up all soda's and any other fizzy drinks for waters with fruit flavors for "tang" as the body can easily…

  • There's an older book entitled Cicuit Weight Training that may help. I has a few routines in it and, more importantly, explains the principles behind the regimen which will help you create your own. You can also look on-line for the women's version of Men's Fitness which routinely covers this subject.
  • I can't say that I know where you're coming from but I do wish you luck. Hang in there!

  • If you want to make the food even healthier you can ask for brown rice instead of white rice. But I'm here to tell you some of us DON"T LIKE brown rice. One last warning - watch the sauces (they are the enemy)!!

  • "Missed it by THAT much!" Thanks for the laugh.
  • I'm getting a kick out of reading the posts where some of you admit you do something that's on another person's hate list (like reading on a bike or treadmill). I haven't seen honesty like this in a long time!! Keep up the good work!
  • Blenders are easy to kill - for sure. We have a Tiger juicer to pre-pare the vegetables for blending but have given up on finding the perfect blender. We go to New Uses and get someone's discarded wedding present at a price that makes it a real value. You might try that.
  • Check e-bay. I got the entire program for my son late last year fairly cheaply (I don't remember the exact cost). But watch out as I almost dealt with someone who couldn't deliver.
  • I liked the part where she is quoted as saying that it wasn't a diet - it was a lifestyle change!
  • Bob Evans has a heck of a neat nutrition area on their menu site!
  • They are a part of my trail mix so I have a few in my 1/2 cup daily allotment. The taste helps me avoid having more of them. I used to have trail mix with carob but haven't seen it lately.

  • It's kind of strange but most of these issues would go away if the people who ran the gym would....let's see...oh yeah...RUN THE GYM!!!!
  • $6,000 is a BIG piggybank!
  • My wife has worked her butt off to lose weight and been quite successful through bariatric surgery, nutrition, and exercise. Unfortunately due to her age and the rapid pace at which it was lost, she has a lot of extra skin that won't ever go away on it's own. Our insurance company covered the surgery but refuses to cover…
  • On the grunting thing....I've belonged to a lot of different kinds of gyms over the years. I currently belong to a "fitness" gym where the guidelines discourage loud grunting and forbid "yelling"! A "power" gym that I used to belong to actually encouraged it as a motivation technigue. One gym had "grunt hours" where the…
  • If you like the sugary sweet taste of regular shakes, I don't think any of the protein or meal replacement shakes are going to do it for you. I can't say that I've tasted them all because I 1) have a price point break that eliminates a lot of them as too expensive and 2) have had a past bad experience with trying new…
  • I don't run as much as I used to since my knee surgery. Mostly into bicycling now but like to do 5Ks every now and then as the "pass/fail" aspect of timed running is better for my ego. I hope you find your training partner.
  • No problem with the negativism! You've provided good information. Unfortunately, I don't have time to cook as much as I used to (especially with cycling season in full bore) and my wife can't get the cooking for two not six figured out. (I don't mind eating the same dishes often but not back-to-back for three days and…

  • Sent my request to the website comment section that their e-mail hot-linked to. Asked for the nutrition for my main course and told them that I hoped to get a positive response as this was starting to look like a run around. What do you think about using this thread to list companies you've written to for nutrition…
