  • If you're using it right it puts the pressure on the frame itself, not the plaster/drywall around it. The only damage I've done with mine is trying to use it on a doorway my husband installed instead of one of the ones that came done with the house. Theirs was much sturdier- his broke!
  • I don't know if they're the same model, but I have a timex and it's fine for what I want it for. My only complaint is that there is no way to adjust for male/female, so it assumes I'm male. I just take the end average heart rate and put it into a website that gives me a more accurate calorie burn. For $12.99 why not try it?
  • When I use my HRM it's similar to the estimate given for Aerobics- high impact. It definitely depends on your instructor, but having a heart rate monitor is the only way you'll know for certain.
  • I never have, but am looking to buy pepper spray that fits in the palm of my hand. I live in a quaint, usually-safe town and in a nice neighborhood, but you never know! Especially when I run on trails (old rail beds) they are very secluded and usually not well-used. I'd rather be on the safe side!
  • I don't know where you get the dvds, but Steve Cotter is really good. Not so much fun (he's pretty no frills) but he is really good and stressing form and will get you doing the exercises correctly.
  • I'm one of the few people that didn't see any results on the program. No weight loss, no inches lost. And I felt like I lost muscle. I did like the program- and still use the cardio routines in combination with weights each week. It just didn't work for me doing cardio only. Everyone is different- and like I said I'm the…
  • I never did the program though- I always used the workouts to supplement other things I was doing. I LOVE HIIT workouts and the 45 minute routines. They were a bit tough to get the hang of at first- and she changes quickly- but it never felt like working out. It's a fun program!
  • I did it barefoot on carpet- I felt like my sneakers would catch and cause more injury than doing it barefoot.
  • Turbofire is much more fun than Insanity! And definitely easier- start there and then move to Insanity when you're done.

  • I didn't do the nutrition plan- and that's a big part of the results. Even without the official plan and just eating better in general I lost 8 pounds and 3 inches off my belly. In contrast I've only lost another 3 in the 9 months since I ended the series. I'm on P90X2 now trying to get those kind of results again!
  • Dance! Look up Zumba videos for free on youtube!
  • I'm a recent convert! Until recently I always turned up my nose at Aldi because I knew it had a reputation for being so cheap. Plus we have Wegmans in this area and there's nothing that can beat Weggies! I love their boxed items- pancake mix, cake mix, brownie mix (all the junk food!) and we've had good luck with the…
  • Is anyone else finding the total distance in the workout and the distance when you log it completely different? For at least half of the workouts I've done so far the total distance done in the workout doesn't equal the distance when I go to log it as that workout.
  • I love P90X. As another poster said, you can modify every move to make it work with what you're capable of. The cardio routines aren't nearly as fast paced as Insanity, but the weight routines are great. Stick with it and you'll see great results.
  • LOVE IT. I was almost to prude to try it, but it was a blast. It is major upper body strength! Think of doing a pull-up- and then holding yourself there. I've only done it once, but I really want to install a pole in my basement for the workouts!
  • I always pack an apple in my gym bag to eat on the way home. Chocolate milk is a great alternative to protein shakes too- the right balance of carbs and protein.
  • For me it was intense- but not dripping sweat can't catch your breath heart rate really high hard. It's much more focused on muscle growth. I had great results- and still use several of the videos in my weekly routines.
  • Signing up for August 25th in Ohio. Wyndham Mountain is closer- but it's up the side of a frickin' ski resort. Ohio = flat!
  • I love mapmyrun. Especially now that you can load your own and others routes onto it. I have Zombies, run! but haven't actually tried it yet. It just looks fun! I'm just worried I'll be staring at my screen and trip over something as I run :)
  • Done. I snuck them in while Tony Horton was yapping between sets!
  • I probably wouldn't bother. But that's just me. I never log things like house cleaning either. I suppose you could log it as dancing??
  • I just printed off the workouts- I think I'm going to do the advanced beginner set along with P90X2 for the next 12 weeks. Love that the workouts change up each time! Thanks for the link!
  • Steve Cotter is slow! Lol! But I like his workouts when he gets into them- I use a circuit video he did that has about 3-4 20 minute workouts. The Russian is insane too. (Pavel?) Google Kettlebell Goddess.
  • I wasn't a big fan- I liked what P90X did for my body much more. But there are some people out there with amazing results! Give it a try!
  • I just did my first indoor sprint- it was fun! The one I did didn't have set distance though- only a set time for each event. To prepare the bike/run portion I did a "brick" once a week- biking for 20 minutes and immediately following that with a 20 minute run. It helps to get the feel of how much like jello your legs will…
  • Some people will advise you to keep your heart rate relatively low (140 I think?) but more importantly listen to your body! You'll know when you've pushed too hard.
  • And one more thing- don't think of exercise during pregnancy as a way to keep the weight off. Keeping a certain weight or being 'pregorexic' isn't healthy for anyone! Exercise because it makes you feel good and keeps you active. (I gained 50 pounds with both kids! Don't stress it- it will come off!)
  • Do what you can for as long as you can. With my first he was really high, and squished my lungs. I stopped running and swimming because I couldn't catch my breath, but I was kickboxing and lifting weights until the day I delivered. With my second I swam the entire time. Do what you are comfortable with- try to keep you…
  • I don't know how much you'll tone with Insanity- it's mainly cardio. You will likely lose weight, but I found that I lost muscle without the weight element in there for 2 months.
