  • I notice some of you are using dance as a workout. I love that, too, but I have not as yet put it into play. I am kind of waiting for our Northern Thailand winter to set in, when I may not feel like getting into a swimming pool after a 50 degree night. (BRRRR) Any way...some great tunes I have danced to in the past: Play…
  • What about swimming...do you guys know if that is a good fat burner? I am doing weight training and treadmillm 3 times a week, but swimming 8 times! I LOVE the lovely rubbery feeling I have afterwards...HUGE endorphins akin to a runner's high. But sometimes I wonder about the fat burning aspect.
  • What do I love about myself? Yikes. This is actually very good thread. I never really think about this. Hmmmm. I love that I can 'laugh with those who laugh, and cry with those who cry." I love that I am not easily, if ever, intimidated. I love that I have not allowed excess weight to keep me from public speaking, teaching…
  • joined in September. Have been on this new lifestyle for 5 1/2 weeks. Started at a horrifying 324 pounds Now am down to 312 pounds. God is good! My goal is to lose NO LESS THAN 100 pounds in one year. ( Hopefully more)
  • Oops, the Thursday workout is the same as Tuesday.

MWF 4:30 - 5:30 pm - swim 1 mile Tues. 6 - 7 am Swim 1 mile Tues. 5:30 - 6:30 pm swim 1 mile Saturday - Afternoon swim 1 mile Sunday - rest (but busy with my work) I am going to ask my trainer about breaking things…
  • By the way, today I noticed my pants ARE loose. I must be losing!m:)
  • Have you ever read, "Eats, Shoots and Leaves"? It is hilarious, published in Britain. Subtitled, the 'zero tolerance approach to punctuation.' Great book!
  • I live in Thailand so alot of food is unmarked and I have to use this website for guidance. However I am able to go by calories, not joules. Just wondering if there are any sites out there that have good caloric details for Asian food especially Thai and Vietnamese or Japanese. When I eat out here, that is what I…
  • Thanks again all of you. I can't tell you how much your encouragement means. I am willing to believe the site...cmriverside. But it is scary. With the amount of exercise I am doing I am being give a HUGE amount of calories that I am allowed to eat. Still, I have given the site my goal of losing 2 pounds a week....maybe it…
  • Well...seeing that I have more than 100 pounds to lose....I think there is no question of me leaving. I will be here for quite some time! And I am sure I will definately need help once I reach target....I have never in my life been able to maintain any weight loss.
  • You guys are AWESOME! I feel so encouraged, and I do believe I need more calories, because instead of feeling good doing all this excericize I feel like I am going to die....I am sore and tired all the time every day. Clearly my body is telling me I need more. I tried the last couple of days to up my protein intake and I…
  • Thanks you guys....I needed to hear that! I have a question, cmriverside....since I am excercizing so much, I am being given a HUGE amount of extra calories. I am I really supposed to eat that, or is it better to stay at my 1550, which I was given as a daily avg. target if I wanted to shift 2 pounds a week? If I eat more,…
  • Hey skinnier me...are those recent pics of yourself? Look at those cheekbones!!! You must be doing amazingly well. Thanks for all the great recipes. Deb
  • M ike, these are great features and I LO VE this board. It has given me such a sense of community in my new life style choice. Thanks so much for all your hard work. Deb
  • You are right, Lisquinn...it is MUCH easier with this site. And there are so many really nice people here to be a support. I had a similar situation years ago...I lost 90 pounds in 18 months. Then we moved from Scotland to the USA, with a cut in salary and I could not afford all the 'special' items I was able to purchase…
  • I have been so concerned. I have been faithfully on my new lifestyle regime for over five weeks now. I was doing some form of excercize for at least one hour a day, with weight training included 3 days a week. For the past 10 days I have upped that to 2 hours a day, ( swimming a mile, sometimes morning and evening) I guess…
  • Tina...this list is amazing. I am going to give it a bump to bring back up top. Also, I cut and pasted it into my documents so I can read it whenever I am feeling weak. Thanks for it. PS. where did you get this, may I ask?
  • I think this is a great topic because it speaks to all of our hopes and dreams of being the best we can be and having the life we can enjoy. I need to keep these 'can't wait 'till I cans...' ever before me so that I will have the hope to keep going, day after day, week after week...even is the scales are not kind. Oh, by…
  • These sound amazing and right up my alley....I dont miss the sugar but the salty treats.
  • YES! I want that too. And here is more: I live in a Southeast Asian country where literally most of the women are between a size 0 and a size 6. Needless to say I have not been able to buy any clothing here at all for 8 years, and in fact have to wait to shop every 2 years when we go home!! :( In the tourist areas are…
  • Wow, I just checked out that site and I am SO stoked: my chosen cardio exercise is swimming and I am burning off nearly 1000 calories each time I go! Wow! I started off daily and began to drop back...now I am going to go daily again!
  • Sarah, that kind of pressure only adds to the problems I agree with Skinnier me. He should love all of you. There are plenty of great guys who will love you that way. Do talk to him. He may think he is helping you to face it. But lowering our self esteem only makes it all worse. I have gained 100 pounds since my wedding…
  • To be able to paint my toenails without giving myself a hernia!
  • OH MY GOSH...Tina these are amazing. LOL! I can relate to soooooo many...just about all of them really...except the great sex. married 20 years to a hunk who loves every inch. But I would feel better, I know.
  • thanks you guys....at 150 pounds overweight, I need all the extra help i can get.
  • I am wondering if I am burning off more calories than the charts say due to my overweight. Does anyone know? Do you know if the calculator on this site is adjusted for our relative weights. For example, when I swim vigorously for 30 minutes, do I burn up more calories then a gal who weight 120? Anyone know? I would sure…
  • I have heard that people who weigh daily are more likely to keep it off. I know myself, everytime I gained it all back, I went without weighing myself for months at a time. It is like a daily commitment appoinment with my scale. Good or bad, I look at it, then deal with it.
  • That is a great goal, skinnier_me! I am a life long swimmer...I know you would LOVE it. Maybe reward yourself with some lessons to go along with that swim suit! Speaking of swimming: Sliding down the slides a water parks again. OH I miss that And here is a big one for me: We live overseas and next summer we will be coming…
  • Years ago I did a trick with myself to fill me up. I would steam a cup of 'free" veg: ie: broccoli, brussel sprouts, green beans, with half a stock cube for flavor. I crave salty snacks in the evening like chips and I found that this helped me to overcome that
