• This is the scale I purchased.
• I just bought a Nokia scale which I like. It's a wi-fi scale which I have hooked up to here and Trendweight. Of course, it differed by about 3 lbs. from my old scale but I just bit the bullet being as this is the scale I plan on using from now on. I had a little problem setting it up at first because I hook it up through…
• Instead of rewarding yourself with food for eating healthy, maybe you can try rewarding yourself with something other than food. Maybe treat yourself to a mani/pedicure or a new outfit. By rewarding yourself with food, you're basically un-doing everything you did to get to where you are and it just doesn't work that way.
• Even though I went over my caloric intake, I decided to log it for Saturday. This way I can get an average for the week and start my new week on Sunday. Thanks, All......
• I do have my scale linked to Trendweight and, I also get it with the Nokia dashboard which is the scale I have. I don't understand what you mean by the water weight variation though? Do you mean the up/down fluctuation?
• Seems like a good attitude. Just keep in mind losing 0.5 pounds a week it will be a while, like 3 months, before you will for sure see that weight loss in the noise of random weight variations due to changes in water retention. What I mean is one month from now you could be heavier than you are now because despite having…
• Thanx for all the responses, Everybody. I just want to say, so I don't have to "quote" from a number of responses, I am 56 years old. I do walk back/forth to work but it's not a very long walk. It, literally, takes me less than 5 minutes to walk there, downhill one way/uphill back home. I don't, or haven't started, doing…
• Keto is not about "no carbs". It's about eating healthy slow acting carbs as opposed to quick acting carbs which spike your blood sugars. And, I agree, maybe the alcohol/liquor wasn't the best analogy but you wouldn't offer a diabetic a slice of pizza and a piece of cake if they came for dinner. It would send their sugars…
• I'm not a doctor but I do know a little about diabetes and with an A1C of 9.1, she is definitely diabetic. Now, unless she's had it since a young age and her pancreas does not produce insulin at all anymore (or very little), she is most likely a T2 diabetic which can be controlled and/or, even, reversed by following a low…
• I went over but I think it could have been a lot worse. I'm following low carb so I switched out the mashed potatoes with mashed cauliflower and the cranberry sauce with a l/c version I had made last night. I did have the stuffing and 1/2 a small sweet potato along with some gravy. For dessert, I had my l/c version of…
• Sorry, I don't have any pictures but I had turkey (white meat), sweet potato, stuffing, gravy, homemade low carb cranberry sauce, mashed cauliflower, and a biscuit. For dessert I had low carb pumpkin/cheesecake bake and a cup of Nespresso Decaf Cappuccino. Quite a bit over my calorie/carb intake but, Hey......Thanksgiving…
• You would definitely have to count carbs if you are doing keto. Keto is about keeping your carbs low enough so your body will burn stored fat for energy.
• @ mamabear081......I'm pretty new also and just recently found out how to send a friend request, myself.......lol. Anyway, if somebody answered this already, I apologize (I'm still in the middle of reading this thread) but what you have to do is click on the person's name to the left of their post. A box will appear with…
• My motivation (for the 2nd time around) is diabetes runs in my family.
• First of all, don't ever feel stupid or ashamed for posting/asking a legit question. That is how you learn how other people handle, or cope, with the same situation and, as you can see from the responses, you are definitely not alone in this struggle. Personally, since I am following a low carb lifestyle, I can honestly…
•
You can grind up mushrooms in place of the bread to hold it together and it tastes amazing.
That sounds good. I'll have to try that next time. Not sure my son will eat it though......lol
• Jody's Pumpkin Cheesecake Bake is one of my staples for a snack in the evening and so easy to make. 15 oz. can pure pumpkin 8 oz. cream cheese (softened) 1 cup of Splenda 5 eggs 1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and continue to…
• I understand how Atkins is suppose to work but I've found a lot of people, who follow Atkins, choose not to get out of the "Induction" phase for fear they will no longer be in ketosis. I chose to just skip the induction phase, altogether, and find what amount of carbs I can consume and still lose weight. So far, it's…
• Woo-Hoo!! Well done........ :)!!
• We always have a salad with our Thanksgiving meal, also. Growing up, my Mom actually would make a salad with dinner every night.
• How about a shrimp cocktail or cut up fresh veggies with a spinach dip?
• Cheese........preferably pepperjack.
• I work Mon-Fri during the day and Saturday, overnight, every week. The only morning I don't have to get up early for work is Saturday morning so I have a few beers just about every Friday night. I average about a 6 pack (Coors Light) and, believe it or not, my weight is actually down when I weigh myself Saturday morning.…
• I've never heard of the "exchange' thing so I can't comment on that but eating a low carb diet will definitely help you loose weight and quite possibly reverse your diabetes. Like another poster had pointed out, 6.4 is really not that high for an A1C and a b/s reading of 155 is a little high but not that high. Really, what…
• I just deduct the fiber from my carbs to get my net carbs for the day. The same as you would do if you were grocery shopping and looking at the nutritional facts on a product you were buying. At least in the U.S., anyway. Our food labels don't automatically deduct the fiber to give you net carbs.
• I created an account but it said I needed a Nokia scale or a fitbit before I could continue.
• I don't have a fitbit. Christmas is coming though. Maybe I can talk my boys into getting me one for Christmas.... ;)
• This is not every week. I tend to shop daily being as I work in a supermarket but things I like to keep on hand are: frozen/fresh veggies, frozen/fresh berries, cheese, seltzer (I love Adirondack White Chocolate seltzer), chicken, boneless pork chops, ground beef, bacon, sausage, butter, olive oil, avocados, cream cheese,…
• P.S., I just order a new scale, also, to set up with TrendWeight.
