I wish someone properly explained to me about how to lose weight! When I was 13, I read all the magazines my grandmother had (First and other magazines) which promised so much weight loss in a month. But I really didn't understand it all. From my understanding, if I ate less calories and worked out that it just worked. So,…

You situation sounds similar to mine a few years ago. Back in March 2009, I had lost 10lbs in a week by diet and exercise. For the rest of the month I lost 2lbs for a total of 12lbs. I could not lose any weight until almost May 2009. However, I noticed in that time that I was losing a massive amount of inches and decided…

I want to reinvent myself.. change my eating habits, eat healthier, do more of the advice I give to others when they ask me about health/nutrition since I love to read health books. So, ReinventingLisa was born.

Nope never! LOL interesting to hear though.

I took a look at your diary and it does look pretty good. One thing I noticed is that you should work on reducing the sugar. Both your protein and fat are high, which is fine, but I'd also try lowering the protein a bit. For some people, that could mess them up. Your calories are also bouncing all over the place, so that…

I still miss the Spice Girls LOL!

For me, I started a few days into my diet and started having massive headaches! I do eat enough calories, but I think it was the change in the quality of the food I was eating. I started eating less carbs and more natural foods vs. high sugar and carby foods loaded with sodium. It eventually went away, but it was weird at…

Thanks for all the replies! I was wondering myself if they were just being jealous.. I have a friend that would bring up my weight when we weren't even talking about my weight. The last time she did that, I lashed at her and told her straight up that it was my body and I'll do what makes me happy so stop bringing it up cuz…

Def not on the shot anymore! I gained 20lbs in a month from taking that from April-May 2011 and I'm never taking it again!

It depends. I have my calories set up at 1350 calories but I usually end up eating round 1100-1250 calories. I thought 1200 calories was set too low, but i end up usually eating under my set goal anyways.

I'm 5'4 and my highest weight was 197.4lbs! After a weekend of eating all the wrong things, I stepped on the scale to that one morning. I always thought I'd never surpass 175lbs since that was my highest weight 10 years ago and I remember how crappy I felt then. Well, seeing that I was about 3lbs shy of 200lbs and seeing…

I'm a really picky eater especially when it comes to fruit and vegetables so I try to sneak them in when I can. My favorite meal is a lean high protein/high fiber chili, and a protein shake made with lots of strawberries and flax seed oil.

I like to weight once a day, but I find it more counter productive. I'd find myself thinking that I "did good" so I can have something for that. Bad idea. Creates an endless cycle sometimes so I find it better to weight once a week.

Great idea! I eat eggs regularly, and was thinking about what to make when I start my new job next week. Although my hours for work will only be 4pm-12:30am for three weeks.. I'm still trying to find ways to save me time.

Big difference! You look great! Makes me motivated to take out that new Jillian Michaels DVD and try it out LOL.

When I'm bored, I just bike and read a magazine for a half hour. I read two fitness magazines that also motivate me while I'm biking, so I usually end up running on the treadmill and doing the elliptical after. You won't burn a lot of calories on a bike but I've found reading some magazines helps get me going! Maybe…

10lbs (or more) would be great. I haven't lost anything yet, so I'm staying focused. I do exercise so hoping with watching my calories that it will start coming off more easily.

I need to lose 10lbs. I haven't lost anything this year so far. :( On the plus side, I've started this month with some basic goals. My goals for February are: - drink 1 gallon of water daily - 30 grams of fiber daily - at least 100 grams protein daily Doing good on the water so far. I'm almost at 6 cups, and just need two…

Sadly, this is a topic very misunderstood. Did you know that it all started when it was a suggestion that eggs might be bad for your cholesterol and it was published in a medical journal without any scientific fact? It's since been debunked, since they now understand how the body converts cholesterol and it's your body…

I just bought the DVD Sunday, but I haven't tried it yet! Hoping to do it atleast 3 days a week in addition to my gym workouts. I'm one of those unlucky ones where an hour of cardio just doesn't do it for weight loss. I'm wondering if I have a thyroid problem but I don't have medical insurance to get that checked out. :(

The best advice I read in a magazine years ago when I was stuck, was to do these things to see changes: - Limit carbs to no more than 100 grams a day - Aim for 100 grams protein a day - Aim for 20-25 grams fiber a day - 5-6 mini meals no more than 3 hours a part - Drink 3 cups of green tea daily (I make this also with…

I eat a lot of protein since I'm trying to gain muscle while i lose weight, you could try protein shakes. I buy Isopure Peach Mango and use a half scoop with a cup of unsweetened almond milk and a half cup frozen strawberries. Comes out like a thick strawberry shake, and doesn't taste funny at all! That's about 25 grams of…

I agree with all the above statements. What I've noticed that works for me in the past in eating high fiber/high protein. I'm trying to aim for 20-25 grams of fiber a day, and up to 100 grams of protein a day. Also, I've heard about success with eating your goal weight maintenance calories and I'm more or less following…

I remember when I was in Basic Training for the Army back in 2006, we were told not to drink more than 4 cups of water an hour. Any more could lead to water intoxication.

Depends on what kind of snacks you're talking about. You can eat a lot of fruits/veggies for under 200 calories. About a cup of strawberries has only 50 calories.

I want in! I'm hoping to actually lose a little bit more, about 10lbs a month, but I'd be happy with atleast 25lbs!

I'm the same way but I'm also an emotional eater. I would eat until I'm practically stuffed at every meal even though I might not be as hungry. It's weird sometimes. But when I watch what I eat in terms of trying to lose weight, I think I balance out better. I forgot it what's like to not be stuffed full of food, but not…

Which low carb diet are you following? Generally, low carb is defined as eating under 130 grams of carbs a day. On the Atkins, induction level are under 20 grams of carbs for 2 weeks. Also, I think the percentages are a bit off on this site. It gave me 45 grams of protein a day and that's way too low for me.

I would like to join. I have 60lbs to lose.
