  • There is no "magic" pill for weight loss other than eating healthy and exercising. If there is a pill out there, it will only be a temporary solution. You will gain every bit of it back, plus more if you don't learn healthy eating habits now!
  • Zero, unless you add creamer.
  • A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. It's a misconception that makes people feel better about themselves when they say they aren't losing weight. What is true is that 1 lb of muscle occupies less space in your body than 1 lb of fat. The only true test is to take measurement.
  • I love strength training! Great for toning and shaping! I do a mix of both cardio and strength, the best of both worlds!
  • After reviewing your diary, it looks like you need to increase your calories. Sounds like your body is in starvation mode, which means it's holding on to every calorie you eat. Which is probably why you aren't losing and could possibly gain. You should be eating between your BMR and TDEE. "Eat more, weigh less" Please…
  • "You can make excuses all you want, but at the end of the day all you'll have are your poor excuses and another wasted day" "EXCUSES are the nails used to build a house of failure" "I don't have time is the grown-up version of the dog ate my homework" "Fitness is like marriage, you can't cheat on it and expect it to work"…
  • You might want to cut back to only eating back 1/2 of your workout calories. I also checked out your food diary, maybe up your protein a little more and reduce the carbs and fat just a little bit. Good Luck!
  • Great Job!! You look amazing! Keep up the good work!
  • I suggest you eat carbs!! If you are in ketosis, it means your body is starving. If you're not losing weight it's because your body is telling you it has nothing left to lose. The fact that your body has said "no more" will eventually lead to serious health issues, organ damage and possibly death if left untreated. Your…
  • Just added you! Good Luck!
  • Welcome Newbies! Please feel free to add me and good luck!!
  • You will be able to sustain yourself with 1200 calories, but only for a short period of time before your body say no more. Make this a lifestyle change, not a diet. Walking is the perfect cardio exercise if you are unable to do anything else. The key is finding the right balance. Check out this link.…
  • Forgive yourself and move on. Today is a new day, just stick to your everyday goal.
  • To keep yourself from getting bored, join the group classes your gym has to offer! It's a great way to have fun, learn from your instructors and make new friends who are on the same journey. Good Luck! Feel free to add me!
  • If you are only eating 900 calories a day and then exercising, your food deficit is way too low for your body to sustain for any length of time. It will eventually shut down your kidneys and cause serious health issues if you continue on like this. It is possible to fuel your body and still lose weight, the healthy way.…

  • Not everyone on MFP is "fat". I've never had a weight problem, just the 10 lb fluctuation from time to time. I joined MFP to learn how to be healthier. I eat to live, I don't live to eat. Don't get me wrong, I love food that's bad for me, and sometimes indulged, but in moderation. You choose to eat the junk food, while…
  • Exercise is the best anti-depressant....and it's FREE! Take the kids to the park, walk around the track for 30 minutes and you will burn about 130 calories. This is a lifestyle change so it wont happen over night, but taking one step at a time will do wonders for your attitude and depression. You can do this! Feel free to…
  • I may go months without weighing myself. If my clothes fit comfortably or feel loose, I know I'm okay. Weighing yourself daily can be either make or break your day. Causing depression or lack of motivation if you live for the scale.
  • Zumba is awesome cardio! Being a Zumba instructor I may be a bit bias, but it's a fun workout that will burn between 400-700 calories an hour. Also a 30 minute brisk walk burns about 130 calories. Strength training is great for building muscles, but you definitely need some cardio.
  • You have to make time! The excuse "I DON'T HAVE TIME" is the equivalent to "THE DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK" ;-) Taking care of yourself is just as important as the kids or boyfriend or job.
  • NEVER.....I mean EVER skip breakfast! ;-) Something light to let your body know you're not starving it. I eat 6-7 times a day, but keep it all within my allotted calories. I'm never hungry and most of the time strive to even make it to my goal.
  • Exactly! If you're hungrier at lunch, eat more. Just stick within your allotted calories per day and you'll be fine.
  • I will, thank you Kevin!
  • Don't beat yourself up, you're not a failure! Forgive yourself and move on because today is a new day. You're more than welcome to check out my food diary, I went over my calories this weekend (both days) without doing any exercise. Did I feel guilty? Nope....lol I don't deprive myself of my sweet tooth cravings, I just do…
  • Age is only a number. I'm 43 and in better shape than I was in my 30's. It's never too late to start your journey. Good luck to you, feel free to add me.
  • I'm 43, just sent you a request. Good Luck!
  • Couples who play, pray and workout together stay together. I just threw that in there, but it's true. ;-) Good luck to you both!
  • I agree! My husband and I workout together on occasion, but if he decides he's not feeling up to the gym, I go without him. If your gym offers classes, join them. You may meet other people who will motivate and inspire you to push yourself harder. Your life is the result of the choices you make, so accept his choice and…
  • Yes, go to the gym and leave him at home on the couch! You're doing this for you, not him. Once he sees you in the gym and making an effort, it might motivate him, but don't let his excuses be yours. "Fitness is like marriage. You can't cheat on it and expect it to work."
