  • I'm in the same boat. Caught it in January and I still can't taste some things (specifically, peanuts and whatever makes Pad Thai taste good. It's tragic since those were some of my favorite things). Yellow squash and zucchini are some of my favorite things right now, along with bell peppers. Actually I think sauteed bell…
  • Time to go to Sams!
  • Masks are a placebo to assuage some of the fear that people have about the virus. I'm fine with that. I'll play along. I would rather this than shut down the economy again. But my mom had double lung surgeries and my dad has extremely bad claustrophobia, so they can't wear them, and I don't think we should shame them for…
  • I did not gain any weight back while on vacation. I am home now and worked out and am counting calories again instead of giving up.
  • I just got the Samsung watch, but I was going more for looks with workout tracking being second. I got the rose gold and I really like that mine looks like a girly, normal watch, but it can also track steps and workouts. It isn't as accurate as the others, but I'll actually wear it all the time, and what good is a fitbit…
  • I'm back on the wagon. I've logged for a week now, and gone to the gym 5 times. Someone posted this workout as their NSV a little while ago and I love it! https://www.drworkout.fitness/fat-loss-gym-workout-plan-for-women-12-week-program/ I have always liked doing weights, but knowing what weights to do was confusing, so I…
  • I graduate from a very hard Ph.D program next May. I don't want to look fat in my graduation pictures. Also I just want to be healthier and see what my body can do.
  • Could be worse... any time I gain weight, I gain it on my hips and bust, which gives people the illusion that I have a smaller waist. This means the first sign that I've gained weight is people asking if I've lost weight. Haha.
  • I think food has always had moral connotations to it. Most major religions have dietary restrictions. Now we don't have the specific religion to tell us what to eat. Instead, we make up what is "good" and "bad" based on flawed understanding of the latest journalist's retelling of a scientific article, which is then used by…
  • I'm trying to get back on track after a year or so off. I've developed some good habits during the year like not going to bed with a messy apartment and taking vitamins nearly every day. Oh, and I wrote a dissertation, literally. My hair is beautiful now thanks to the vitamins and I've never had beautiful hair before, so…
  • I don't know what these "head colds" are that people speak of. If I get a cold my lungs always feel achy, even if I'm not coughing a lot. Is that still a head cold?
  • I fell off the wagon for a while, but I logged today, so that is good. I'm in a really good place psychologically, so I haven't felt as much of a need to exercise for emotional stability, but I probably need to start just so that I am more active.
  • Was kinda bummed recently because I feel bloated and the scale hasn't budged this week. But I put on leggings and a tight-ish shirt, and I have a waist!! And my stomach is a lot flatter than it used to be.
  • I experiment on people.
  • I really don't like meeting new people and small talk and BBQs and all that. I want to sit in someone's living room or go to dinner and talk about real things, but having to answer more questions about what I do and where I'm from seems like torture. ...But I feel like I need to meet new people and hang out because I like…
  • There is an old story that has been told many different ways, but I was told it like this: Once upon a time, there were these two young lads visiting their grandparents on summer vacation. They soon got bored, and started pining for adventure. Seeing this, their grandfather said to them "There is some old treasure hidden…
  • I found a bra that fits well. It is a 34C. IDK how, because my band size should be a 36 or 38, but I was trying on sister sizes, and this bra style didn't have one in my size so I tried on the 34C and it fit like a charm, and I can wear it on the second hook... Weird. So I'm a C-cup now. That sounds a lot better than being…
  • It depends. I lost a pants size about every 10 lbs. I'm 5'8, 190 lbs, and size 8 now. I don't have big hips and only carry weight there when all other options are exhaused, haha. However, I still haven't lost a shirt size, so I think that is going to take a little longer.
  • In 10 lbs I'll be the weight I am on my drivers licence.
  • This is how I conceptualize my eating. I "spend" calories when I eat something. Since I'm a numbers person, this works really well.
  • Took @VUA21 's advice and started to run slower. Today I ran longer than I have since college, and I think I can do the C25K program at this speed. But I could have walked faster, lol. I run like a horse... a dressage horse.
  • My size 8s fit, even though I'm bloated due to TOM. I've had size 8s fit to some extent since December, but every time I realize it, I get really happy because I've never been smaller than a 12 before since I've been an adult.
  • I generally eat "clean" but it depends on by whose standards. I also like popcorn that has MSG in it. I think figuring out how to cook and eat healthily is a good idea. But I think a big theme of the people on this forum is that if you are too restrictive or strict with your diet, you are going to fail. You have to find a…
  • I weigh more then, and am really hungry too. Dark chocolate and low-calorie foods are great! I'll eat a lot of popcorn (160cals for 2&!/2 cups) when I need something salty and crunchy, and massive amounts of roasted veggies.
  • I'm right there with you. But I've just decided to feed into the water-gain... Drinking more water and eating watermelon because it is better than eating chocolate- which is what I'm craving right now.
  • I have low iron too, and have a sensitive stomach, so I take a liquid iron supplement (Gaia Herbs PlantForce Liquid Iron at Wholefoods). I take it with water 20 minutes before eating, and it doesn't hurt my stomach as long as I drink enough water afterwards.
  • I had to take a week break from "running" because I had lasik surgery. Today I ran, and the first two minutes weren't painful at all. I've never run without pain* before (sad but true). If I keep this up, maybe someday I'll actually be able to run. *Note: I usually don't suffer from joint pain or "unhealthy" pain, just my…
  • I want to complete the Couch to 5k program. I've been walking/running regularly for a while, but never pushed myself to get as much better at it.
  • That's awesome! I love your avatar, btw!
  • My boobs are disappearing and I'm already an A cup. I'm going to have to start wearing bralettes. But they look better, tbh. More curved and feminine.
