  • Nov 11th, 2014 I am about to start my post op chemo regimen and the Oncologist gave me the choice between GICAPOX which involves cycles of IV treatment for 1 day, Capeitabine pills for 14 days and then a week of rest or GIAJFFOX which involves 48 hours of chemo treatment through a port administered in cycles every two…
  • Oct 9th, 2014 I got the pathology report today.. Good news.. All the tissue surrounding the tumor was healthy so it looks like they got it all.. Not as good news.. They found cancer in 2 out of 7 lymph nodes that were removed and tested so it looks like another round of chemo... I am doing okay all in all. Just gotta keep…
  • Oct 1st, 2014 Home sweet home!!! I got sprung from the hospital yesterday. They sent me home with a lot of home care instructions including a wound suction cup still hanging out my *kitten*.... But I am home! Healing time
  • September 30th, 2014 Well, they did it!! They cut the tumour out of me!! Today is post op day 4 and with a bit of luck (with the help of a home nurse) I will be heading home soon!!! Now I wait again both to heal and for the pathology report... I have a permanent ostomy so I've got some stuff to learn but road to recovery,…
  • Definitely okay!! Thank you :flowerforyou:
  • You have every right to vent! I truly understand what it is like waiting in tests. All you can do is try not to let your worries get the best of you. My motto ever since being diagnosed with rectal cancer is breathe in... breathe out... repeat. Hugs, Alison
  • I won't know until after surgery unfortunately.. Fingers crossed that it will be temporary but there is a strong possibility that it will be permenant... Just over two weeks until surgery now... Alison
  • August 19th, 2014 Well surgery is scheduled for September 26th... I have been taking full advantage of my time off work and been hitting the gym almost every day. I have actually lost over 15 pounds since being diagnosed on May 1st.. I am a little apprehensive about the procedure.. The Doc thinks I will be in the…
  • July 23rd, 2014 Treatments have been over for a week now.. Still no surgery date. I am off work so I am spending my mornings at yoga and my afternoons at the gym... Operation get as healthy as possible before surgery is in full effect!!! Cheers, Alison
  • July 12th, 2014 I made it to hot yoga this morning!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay me!!!!!! Now I am off to the annual Wiener Dog Races at the local horse race track.. Feeling pretty good about myself today
  • July 11th, 2014 Another week gone and now I have only 3 treatments left... I am so excited to start the next phase which is to concentrate on getting as healthy as possible before my surgery date. Since I am off work my plan is to take advantage of the free time and replace the daily treatments with daily trips to…
  • Whoops.. Just realized there was a separate area just for recipes so I will look through there
  • July 5th, 2014 20 treatments down, 8 to go.. Things are going well, the pain has subsided and I am completely off the pain killers. I met with my Surgeon last week and he figures that surgery will be mid-September. They won't know until they get inside me whether or not the coloscomy will be permenant or not and what I…
  • June 26th, 2014 Today is day 15 which means I am officially half way through mt chemo/radiation treatment period. The side effects are showing but manageable and the pain is definitely subsiding.. I even managed to get a workout in yesterday  Breathe in.. Breathe out Alison

  • June 18th, 2014 So I got pulled over by the cops on my way to radiation this morning... Stupid me, I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. As soon as he got up to my window, the waterworks started.. I felt sorry for the poor guy, he didn't know what to do but needless to say he let me off with a warning. 10 down, 18 to go.. Breathe…
  • May 16th, 2014 I noticed something new today. I have some white lines forming along the side of my tongue and my mouth is really dry all the time... 7 down, 21 to go Breathe in,... Breathe out
  • May 15th, 2014 I am feeling a bit more optimistic today. I went out yesterday and got some Udderly Smoothe lotion and a really comfortable pair of slippers. I just have to deal with whatever comes at me. I have so much to be thankful for and I am not going to let this get me down! Breathe in... Breathe out
  • June 14th, 2014... I am feeling pretty down today. My feet have started to get sore. I understand this is a common side effect of the chemo pills. I can barely handle the pain of the tumor itself and now this. I am thankful for the weekend off treatment but scared for the week to come. I have had 6 days of treatment and…
  • My name is Alison :flowerforyou:
  • June 13th, 2014 Today is day 6. So far so good. The radiation has irritated things a bit but I am dealing with it through a combination of Advil and T3's.. I am looking forward to the weekend off. Breathe in... Breathe out...
  • June 6th, 2014 Today was my first day of my Radiology/Chemo mix... The Radiology was not so bad but I am not so crazy about the way the Chemo drugs make me feel.. :ohwell: 1 down, 27 to go Breathe in.. Breath out
  • June 3rd, 2014 It has been a month and the diagnosis stage is finally over and I start treatment on Friday... No scary surprises on the CT Scan  I am so ready!! 28 sessions of a daily radiation and chemo mix Breathe in... Breathe out
  • May 29th, 2014 My Oncologist managed to get my CT Scan moved up and it's tomorrow... I am relieved and terrified all at the same time.
  • May 22nd, 2014 I met with my Radiologist today. It went well. Sounds like radiation and chemotherapy in my case won't be that bad.. The bad news is that because my tumor is so low I may have a permanent colostomy bag after surgery.. Breathe in.. Breathe out.
  • May 15th, 2014 Got the call about my CT Scan today. June 27th. Seriously?? I have to wait 6 weeks... :noway: I have my consultation with the Radiologist on May 22nd, the Surgeon on the 23rd and the Chemo Specialist on the 28th. I am staying positive though. I can do this!!
  • May 7th, 2014. I had an ultrasound today which showed that the tumor has entered the 3rd layer of the intestinal wall (apparently there are four). The good news is that it hasn't seem to got into my lymph nodes but the bad news is that it looks like I may have to have chemo and radiation therapy while I wait for surgery.…
  • Hugs to all of you and thanks for the kind words. I am thankful I found this group (although sad that there is a need for it).
