  • You may want to check back in your two previous threads on the same subject, several people have offered helpful tips on how to calculate the calories in your pizza: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10707722/1-3-of-6-slices https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10708492/pizza-calories
  • And to play off my analogy above, I'd say yours (and others using a similar strategy) would be more like embarking on that same trip to Osnabrock, North Dakota when you've been there before and have a decent recollection of how to get there. You had to use the map your first time, but now you're generally familiar with the…

  • Truth be told, bodyfat% and 'body composition' are useless and a reason to charge more money for those type of scales. They're 'measured' using BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), which, on consumer-grade devices, is highly inaccurate and variable. I mainly bought the Withings scale for the ability to sync over wi-fi.…
  • Everything you need to know is in the first post of this thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1
  • Do you have diabetes or some other disease/medical condition where a small amount of sugar would cause health concerns? (There is sugar in berries and some peanut butters as well, so I'm not seeing a significant difference here. The body doesn't know any difference between intrinsic sugar and added sugar - it's all sugar.)
  • Considering that a 2 liter bottle of Coke is about 800 calories, yes, that would make a significant difference in one's calorie intake. So whether they're counting calories or not, they just reduced their calorie intake by nearly 800 calories per day. That would definitely have an effect upon their energy balance. I don't…
  • ^ I'd second that advice (and the rest of @AnnPT77 's post, which I snipped for brevity). @Sardelsa knows what she's talking about and has the results to prove it.
  • How long have you been doing it, and what has your change been in scale weight?
  • Holy Cow. I'd never heard of the stuff before, so I went to their website. What a truckload of pseudoscientific bovine manure they're shoveling! I got a headache from rolling my eyes so hard. That's a great example of the supplement industry at their worst and most disingenuous.

  • Honey, whether raw or otherwise, is not inherently "healthy" or "unhealthy". Like any other food, it depends upon its context and dosage within your overall diet.
  • Yep, that's the WS-50. The air quality thing pops up if I touch the silver button in the center of the scale at any time. I can't think of any reasonable use case for it, so I don't bother with it.
  • My 'intuition' tells me to find the nearest all-you-can-eat sushi bar and make them regret their marketing model. :D
  • I'd take a step further - if you want to use something, take a complete source of protein such as a whey protein shake at some point before or after your workout. There's no need for intra-workout protein supplementation. BCAAs are useless without an adequate amount of the other essential amino acids:
  • 16:8 works for me because I'm generally not terribly hungry in the morning, and if I eat an early breakfast it sets the hunger signals in motion, making it harder to meet my calorie goals throughout the day. I also like having lots of calories for a big dinner and ice cream for dessert afterward. With that said, I treat it…
  • Sounds like yours is the WS-50, which is the same model I have. Nice scale, very reliable wifi sync. As you said, I take the BF% numbers with a (large) grain of salt, and I have the heart rate feature turned off so it doesn't even display (it's all customizable from within the phone app). I have mine set so it only shows…
  • It often makes a big difference if one reads and interprets a study in its entirety rather than just gleaning the points which reinforce what they want to believe.
  • If Dr. Punchbowl's woo was true, then all vegetarians/vegans (the vast majority of who eat diets high in carbohydrates) would be morbidly obese and gaining weight/fat continuously and uncontrollably. Because teh insulinz. Since the above is demonstrably false, so is his theory.
  • Research shows that not much of anything is sustainable for long term weight loss. The vast majority of people who lose weight regain it. "Intuitive eating" is largely new-age psychobabble. Humans (like most animals) didn't evolve to lose weight, we evolved to be efficient fat storing machines for survival in periods of…
  • I think Lyle's The Ketogenic Diet book doesn't get the love because he wrote it from a factual, evidence-based point of view and didn't include enough magical, miraculous promises. Too bad, because it's probably the best, most objective reference on ketogenic dieting in existence. He's also authored four other books which…
  • 1) That's not how it works: https://weightology.net/insulin-an-undeserved-bad-reputation/ 2) Substrate utilization is irrelevant to fat loss. 1) A calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight/fat. 2) "Starvation mode" is a myth: https://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/ In the context of the OP, there is no such…
  • It's not a universal thing with either Garmin or MFP, because I use a Garmin device and have GC connected to MFP (in iOS), and it has never even once happened to me. Sounds like the people having this problem may have something messed up in their settings somewhere - or maybe it's specific to one particular platform, since…

  • I’d love to have somebody who believes this nonsense explain how I lost 75 pounds while averaging 200g of carbs per day and eating ice cream for dessert virtually every night.
