  • My goal will be 120 miles with a stretch of 130 miles
  • Hit my stretch goal for February of 120 miles (should end up with just under 124 by the end of today) so I'm pretty happy with this month. Now to calculate March goals.
  • @PastorVincent where can I find said book?
  • In for a nice even 100 miles. Stretch goal is 120 again as this would mean I don't miss a single run day.
  • Hit my goal and my stretch goal and even then some. After my run home I will be at 134.5 miles for the month, not going to lie I will probably do some laps around the block to hit 135 miles. @PastorVincent loving all the movie references but it makes me feel like a bit of a nerd since I not only recognize them but can…
  • @cgolub2 I would suggest just logging the whole workout as a "strength" or "cardio" workout depending on intensity/what you did. There aren't really any individual exercises to log. I just log as a general strength workout and let my Garmin tell Myfitnesspal what I burned.
  • @_nikkiwolf_ another way to gain strength for push ups is renegade rows as they will help you maintain position and gain arm strength while being able to adjust how much you are doing. @Avidkeo is 100% right though, there are tons of different push ups and forms depending on your body, strengths, and what you are trying to…
  • @7lenny7 Thanks for the article. From the sounds of things I will just need to extend out my long run and hit the trails for hills. Beyond that I'm pretty covered (I'm a lifter with a running problem so I strength train heavy 3 times a week) although the 50k in February is probably out.
  • @MegaMooseEsq @7lenny7 I was dong about the same volume when I broke my foot and I had long runs that passed the 20 mile mark every other week. While my volume was a bit more then if you break it down for the most part it was just more condensed (I ran at max 4 days a week). While I don't have a race in mind at the moment…
  • Broke through my monthly goal and should even break my stretch goal if I keep going at this pace. I do have an odd question for anyone who is up to speculating. To set it up I run 6 times a week, to and from work at 2.5 miles each way and then a "long run" on Saturday of 5-6 miles. This sets me up for 30 miles a week.…
  • Instead of using "diets" to narrow your food choices how about every 5 days you pick a different country and make recipes from there. This way you get that something new every 5 days so you don't get bored and you also get to expand your horizons at the same time.
  • Go big while you go home?
  • Still on track to hit my stretch goal by the end of the month. I should have a bit over 65 miles by the end of the day.
  • I'll be at 30 miles by the end of the day (still have to run home from work) so that puts me on track for my stretch goal. We will see how the glutes hold out as today was also heavy squat day. @MobyCarp @PastorVincent thanks for the glove recommendations. I'm not sure if our running store actually carries gloves as it…
  • By the end of the day I should be at almost 16 miles for the month. Just 104 more to go for my stretch goal. @MobyCarp What were those gloves you were talking about with the wind shield? I really need to upgrade my gloves for the colder week or two that we have here down in AZ and I'm looking for recommendations to keep my…
  • If it ever stops raining I will run 6 miles today. If it starts to get late I will just run something and get wet/cold. Still plenty of day to work with so I'm optimistic.
  • @tita0427 I must be one of the weird one as I use my Garmin connect a lot. Mainly for group running challenges though as they can get fairly fun. @msarobix I also don't run to race (I haven't competed in one yet) nor do I get the draw of it but I do obstacle run on a regular bases. While I don't do these for time I do like…
  • @7lenny7 Thanks! It is good to be back up and running :)
  • Since life has stabilized a bit for now I'm going to jump back in the group and set a goal of 100 miles this month with a stretch goal of 120. If the weather holds out then I should hit both. I would like to hit another 1000 miles for the year again this year but we will have to see how jobs line up and where I end up…
  • I hadn't thought about it that way. I have a heavy legs session that borders a run day and I was going to do something easy but now I'm thinking about doing my sprint/"hill" work after it since you have a point about the fatigue.
  • Looking to pick some brains for experience and guidance if anyone has a few moments. I'm starting up a 24/18 rotation (24 days there, 18 at home) for work and will go from at best a treadmill and limited time to free all day and running all over the hills. I would like to be able to train up for the 50km race I'm signed up…
  • I think I would say I more care about air flow that cleanliness. I don't really like a funky smell but I live in the desert where the dust blows so I'm used to things being dusty. As long as there is some good air flow through the building to get rid of the funk (BO, chemical, or otherwise) then I'm fine. Beyond that it is…
  • I just imagine myself as cheese.
  • I'm not vegan (or anywhere close) but my family does eat a lot of veggies and we can get them really cheap. You just have to do things like hit up the veggie trucks (the trucks the sell off the rejected produce for cheap as we got 60lbs of veggies for $10) and farmers markets. Also as stated already buy dried grains and…
  • Welcome to the group and feel free to add me if you want. 34, dad, engineer, nerd, lifter and runner I also have an open diary (mostly carb and protein eater) and I eat everything that doesn't move fast enough. I've been lifting longer than I can remember and recently found a love of long distance trail running. Sitting in…
  • Getting my feet on the ground with the changes life is giving me. I'll try for 50 this month.
  • While I'm now in maintenance I remember the struggles. I don't have any weight to lose but I'm go with encouragement and accountability. I'll join in if you want.
  • I have big bushy eyebrows that do the trick nicely  I also use I hat in the summer that has a plastic in the brim for the visor part and it seems to do a really nice job of helping channel the sweat towards the edges. I got it off a vendor years ago so I can't recommend a brand but I would look for that component…
  • As long as you have a good overall balanced diet day to day the rest doesn't matter too much. Meal timing is like 5% of the puzzle if you really want to push it. For most of us it doesn't really matter at all.
  • High explosives, it's also my job :D
