  • Hi all - just checking in after taking about 10 days off from MFP. I lost a little more weight even though I quit logging (Happy Dance!) It's day 108 for me. I actually have to calculate the days as I don't really count anymore...I just don't drink anymore. I went to a wedding the Saturday before last and the reception was…
  • 98 days (14 weeks) AF today - but - I hit my weight loss goal a little over a week ago and no longer find myself motivated to use this app. I am going to take a break from MFP (and their incessant blogs and ads) and hopefully never have to use this app for weight loss ever again. Best wishes to all of you.
  • What I did not write above was that of the 20 or so in the AA and Al Anon group that I attended for nearly 3 years - 2 are dead from drug overdoses and one is in the penitentiary for selling drugs including the drugs that killed one of the two young men. Both of the young men that died and the young man that was jailed…
  • I went to Al Anon meetings while a family member was doing AA meetings - yet I still drank at the time - never gave it a second thought - I was a self centered jerk. I found the meetings to be tedious most of the time but every now and again, someone would say something and BAMMO! like a laser to the heart, I was dialed…
  • Wow...great Monday morning read. @feelinfoofoo - @vermontrebecca6929 - @hollyscherer1125 Welcome! In addition to the awesome ladies in this group, there are a several of guys here too...and we, guys and gals alike, have all been where you are. There are great people and there is great support in this group!
  • I really like Rx Bars - they do not have as much protein as some (12 gms), but their mixed berry and chocolate peanut butter bars are very good (Walmart) and their ingredients are not full of chemicals
  • I am smoking two 9-lbs bone-in Boston butts (for pulled pork) for a church get-together at our house later today. I started the butts at 7:40 PM yesterday evening. They are almost done. They look and smell amazing! 24 people are coming. This will be the single biggest non, or minimal, alcohol get together we have ever had.…
  • 16.2 miles cycling, 1/2 mile swim - 75 minutes
  • Sorry - but I had a SV today that I want to throw up here - I hit goal weight with 0.2 lbs to spare. Total weight loss was 18 pounds in 11 weeks. I did this obscure, weird diet plan called "counting calories and exercising"...it will never catch on.
  • 3 months AF today ---also--- Hit goal weight today. I am stoked!
  • I don't so any sort of fast...However, I do eat lightly for one or two meals and then eat a normal supper. I keep my calories at goal (500/day deficit on average). I am usually hungry-ish until supper, but because I have plenty of calories for supper, I am completely satisfied after that meal and sleep like a baby. Using…

  • I have arthritic knees that were barking at me bad before I lost my weight. After I lost the weight there was a marked improvement but they would still bark at me if I was not keeping active. So I cycle and swim - lots of motion and low impact. I also will run a bit but I take it easy and run at about 11 or 12 mph pace.…
  • I lost 75 pounds in 18 months when I was in my early 50's. I did this "fad diet" that nobody has every heard of called "Diet (moderation) and Exercise"...it never caught on...wasn't "faddy" enough I suppose. OP - you were motivated to post above - use that motivation moving forward. Moderation and exercise really does work.
  • Yesterday on the KATY Trail. 17.9 miles - 71.5 minutes - 15.0 mph pace.
  • 12 weeks AF today ... next week will be 3 months. Yup. I just said that 😎 I had a little bit of a struggle earlier this week, but that is in the past. Learned from it and moved on. Also, I have been hearing off and on...usually in an incredulous voice ”You’re STILL not drinking? Not even beer?” Since when was beer not…
  • @dbhDeb - At least one 1.75 Liter bottle of Jim Beam ever 5 or 6 days, or so. Plus some top shelf thrown in when I wanted to be a more sophisticated bourbon drinker. Some days were heavy and some were lighter, but I never missed a day. When I had the flu, it would help me get over the flu, same with a cold or with…
  • @lorrainequiche59 - haha - too funny. They should have worded their request much better. What I think they were wanting you to do - if there was a parts list - is to take a picture of the missing part from the parts list document. If there wasn't a parts list - never mind :# @RubyRed - You wrote about your Easter tale from…
  • This evening on the KATY Trail between McBaine and Hartsburg, Missouri. 67 minutes. 15+ mph pace.
  • My doc said stay the course - stay AF - keep exercising and eating balanced meals - retest in 2 months. I also know that today was the first time I actually told my doctor the truth about how much bourbon I actually drank every day/week.
  • Sorry for the long post - but I have a lot on my mind today. I promised my wife no alcohol until Easter. Easter is in 6 days and I am 11+ weeks AF at the time of this writing. BUT - Liquor logic is starting to rear it's ugly head again. As you may recall stopping drinking got me off of BP meds (so happy about this) -…
  • @BuffMom84 - While I am a HUGE fan of iced tea, when summer rolls around - Arnold Palmer's are my AF drink of choice when golfing, BBQing, anything outdoors. Simply put they are 1/2 iced tea and 1/2 lemonade. Worth a try...
  • I had the same thing happen when I lost my big weight (75 pounds). I thought I looked good when I hit goal but a few months later I noticed I had a "gut" again - albeit a much smaller "gut" than the party ball I had before.
  • 11 weeks AF today...I am still battling some occasional demons, but they are not as strong or formidable as before. In fact the demons give up much faster than before as well. @donimfp - congrats on 14 days - I think the hardest part is behind you now! @bigmanatee - Glad you made it back. It doesn't matter where the blame…
  • @nbusam - Glad you dropped in on us. Don't be a stranger. Hope you will post some more. @kevinrfletcher - hahaha - been there and done that too many times myself. I would type a longer message but I need to get on my bike before the cold weather returns tomorrow :) @BuffMom84 - I am glad you quit lurking. My wife still…
  • Hit 'em straight!
  • This weekend was our first beautiful - no coat needed - Spring day. So - on Saturday - I did a planned hour "sprint" bike ride on the MKT and KATY trails. Due to past flooding I had to carry my bike about 1/4 mile, but, oh well. At about 45 minutes, I got a flat. It was my first one ever - I mean like in over 10 years. Of…
  • 45 minutes cycling the KATY Trail - got a flat tire avoiding a flooded section - I had no patches or spare tubes (duh!) - 2.5 mile run/walk back to the vehicle
  • I turned all of my exercise apps off or deleted them about 2 years ago. It was liberating. The only apps I use now is my dumb CASIO watch - that does have a stopwatch - and my music. It might take a little longer to finish the route, but it sure is more enjoyable now that I can stop, take a call, visit with a friend, etc.…
  • I log daily and do an "exotic diet plan" called: CICO + exercise :) I eat whatever - in moderation - and exercise hard 3 or 4 times per week. I would love to have a few more active friends on my friend list...Add me if you want.
  • Omad diet for me would be "I mad" diet for me haha. I agree with @nutmegoreo about 2 meals a day. Glad it is working for you.
