  • I've dealt with Fitbit twice. The first time was for a damaged Ultra years ago, and they wanted me to send them a picture of it with the receipt. They did NOT replace it. They sent me a 50% off coupon for the One instead. The second time was last year, and I lost my Fitbit completely. They actually at first said that I…
  • Congrats on signing up for that half! I am signed up to run one on April 11th this year. My training plan starts on January 25 (only because I have a cruise from the 17th-24th so even though I am running now, there's no point to start a training plan only to interrupt it 12 days later for a week). I also need to lose some…
  • It doesn't matter what size I am, I always suffer from low self esteem and/or confidence. I never seem to be the "right" size, in my mind. What honestly has worked for me is not even thinking about size or weight any more. I set fitness goals (like running a faster mile, or setting a half marathon PR, or lifting more…
  • I like the plans in Greg McMillan's book "You (Only Faster)." He also helps you to develop your own personalized plan instead of just following a cookie-cutter one that was created for the general population.
  • This would be me. Although, I've never let anything like that change my routine...what happens to me is that I am ultra-conscious of things and I start pondering and thinking about them when I go that way. Any kinds of distractions are annoying, whether you take offense to them or not. Distractions are not good, because…
  • Looks pretty tasty to me. I think a lot of the commenters are applying their own version of a weight loss diet to your food...so some people are freaking out at the carbs, others don't understand why you are lower on protein than they would be... But bottom line, if you like it, if it fits into your daily calorie and macro…
  • I am 5'5" tall. Average weight this summer was 135 pounds. My goal was around 125. I'm pregnant now and weigh 145 or so. My goal is to not get above 170 by the time I give birth. When I have the baby, I will re-set my goal for 135 so I can be where I was and then move the chains to 125 pounds again. For the record, I still…
  • I wear 32E and keep them strapped down with max support running sports bras even if I am not running. Most sports bras are only medium or light support, even if they claim to be for higher impact exercises, so you really have to search and make sure you find something that truly is for max support. Lately I have been…
  • I just love what I do. I don't exercise that I don't like, but I love endurance running and I love to lift weights. No tips anyone could give me would make me enjoy trudging along on a treadmill, for example. You just have to try different things until you find something you like.
  • Unless they've changed endomondo, the calculations wouldn't be different if you carry the phone on you while you exercise. I used to while I was running and also during a Turbo Kick class when I just had the phone by my water bottle. I used a heart rate monitor with blue tooth synced to my phone with the endomondo app, so…
  • What kinds of injuries do you have? Insanity is nothing but intense cardio with plyometrics which could be bad on knees, hips, and even shoulders for the burpee-like movements. P90X is a combo between weight training and cardio with some yoga. Personally, I would recommend doing weights (at your own pace) to strengthen the…
  • I don't bother with tracking caloric burn from lifting, but I do use the Jefit app to track my workouts so I don't have to carry around a notebook anymore. The benefits of weight lifting are not the calories burned while doing it...which is great, since it really isn't that much to begin with.
  • I don't "diet" to lose weight. I eat to properly fuel my running. I used to think that I was changing how I eat so that I could lose weight and look good, but when I came to realization that endurance running IS something that I will do for a lifetime, and that what I eat will specifically affect how I run and how much…
  • I don't remember exactly how long it was because I wasn't even timing it. I remember it being a little more than 2 hours, but I honestly can't tell you exactly how much more than that. As far as a fitness background, I may have just started running this year, but I have always been active. I am a Turbo Kick instructor and…
  • I went running this afternoon down the road from my house without a house key...and my husband went to work and locked the doors...

  • This. I started out strapping my phone to my arm and using Endomondo. In July I broke down and bought a Garmin watch. I personally can't keep pace running to music as some of my favorite songs are fast (therefore I run faster) and some of them are slower (therefore I slow down). I do listen to music sometimes on long runs,…
  • I call myself a powerlifting runner, lol. I run 25+ miles a week and I also lift heavy 2-3 days a week focusing on bench, OHP, squat, and dead with some calves and abs exercises tossed in at the end. Feel free to add me if you want. I'm always looking for friends who eat properly (meaning don't starve yourself on VLCD when…
  • I just made my workout plans for the rest of this year and part of January...and this isn't even my training plan for the half. I start out around 25 miles per week and end up closer to 35-40 per week, apparently. Surely this will make me a faster runner than I am now, regardless of how the 5k goes. That said, I think I…
  • What an amazing transformation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations, and I can't wait to see your final before/after pictures. So inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Maybe I'll just make my goal 2:05 for this first time around and try to break 2 hours when I have more training, like the October race that I am planning.
  • I had a cheap, generic phone arm band that I bought from Academy Sports that I used to use when I took my phone running. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I probably still be using it if I wanted to carry my phone on runs anymore. Lately I've just been using my Garmin watch and mp3 player clipped to my waistband and nothing else.
  • Are you counting the dog walking as exercise? If you are, then I would stay with the sedentary adding all exercise and eating AT LEAST half of them back. If you are only logging other exercise as exercise (not the dog walking) then you might want to bump up to "lightly active" and then just log the other workouts and eat…
  • I agree, it can be overwhelming, especially at first! That's why that particular post was made because it answers a ton of questions all in the same place.
  • I've been posting this a lot this morning, lol. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants That thread will answer the questions in your post and much, much more. :flowerforyou:
  • :noway: Propaganda "documentaries" and biased journals by doctors really won't help... Again I'll post this link... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants
  • You answered your own question. Just continue to get leaner via calorie deficit and moderate exercise and you will see those muscles eventually. You only see muscle definition when fat is lost, and fat is only lost through the deficit.

  • Everyone has their own "problem areas." When we lose body fat, it appears that nothing is happening there, but it really is. My friend on Facebook described it as "lakes and puddles." When water evaporates on a hot day, you can see the puddle disappear faster than the lake because it started out smaller. But that doesn't…
