  • */ instantiate humblebrag /* I got the majority of my flooring for free when I helped a Crossfit gym move into a new location. They gave me their old 36x48x0.5" horse stall horse stall mats, pair of farmers carry handles and some other things they were tossing that I incorporated into my home gym.
  • As powerlifter, equipment is key for me. A quality stiff bar, a rack with safeties rated for load, and plates -- lots of plates. Those were my primary buys. After that, cable machine, dumbbells, bands, combo leg extension and curl machine, and other conditioning equipment (air bike, ab mat, ab roller, speed rope, etc) to…
  • I've added two new speciality barbells, an Axle Bar and SSB -- both from Titan. Its a nice change of pace from regular old competition SBD.

  • If you buying a barbell might as well as buy a 7ft barbell anyway. Which one? I'd look for a powerbar from Bells of Steel, Titan, Rep, or even Rogue.Buy the finish that makes sense for you space: if its liable to rust get anything but a bare steel barbell. A basic bushing bar is what you all need. As far as landmine, look…

  • That's sweet. I should have sold more of my older stuff, but with a future as unpredictable as it is, I really had a difficult time parting with anything since so much flipping it took to get what I had to that point. I took the skills I learned from reconditioning barbells and plates and rowers and turned that into a…

  • I keep a spreadsheet of everything I own and to track incoming and outgoing buys and spends. Other than the Rogue equipment which I purchased new, my gym had been largely funded by pre-Covid flips. I have never wanted to use my families income on my hobby so I have for a long time I have run my home gym as a business. One…

  • I have been competing in powerlifting for the last 6 now entering my 7th year and am also a state ref and certified coach for one of the larger powerlifting federations, but I just couldn't justify all the costs involved. What I have functions just fine and am able to make gains. Big thing for me was if the plates angled…

  • The best thing about a home gym over fees and membership at a globo is that the individual can customize their particular workout space according to their goals and preferred method of training. I love the diversity of it.

  • I scored another set of Cap Barbell plates, 335 pounds for $75 from Craigslist. I kept the extra pairs of 25, 35, 10, 5 (they were pretty damn accurate) but sold the rest. Reinvested into new plates from Rep. I had sold my other old mismatch plates sets (5 pairs) over the last few months and saved that too to reinvest.…

  • I have access to a premier health club with just about everything you could want in a gym for free, however, I prefer my gym at home. I will occasionally train at the club, but my home digs is exactly what I need - and safer.
  • Count me down as a candy apple hater.
  • If they would just throttle back on the sugar, the sweetners, the flavor, and the taste of it, it would be a perfectly acceptable product oh and make it taste more like coffee.
  • Hate it. I've long ago reached #getoffmylawn age and think PWOs are throughly unnecessary.
  • Energy drinks like Bang are garbage.
  • I train/exercise five times a week consisting of 75 to 90 minutes sessions. Four months ago, my family and I adopted two puppies who I walk two miles a day. Additionally, I have a part time job on my feet that adds another 1.5 to two miles a day, with a grand total of five miles on my feet for the days I work. Trick…
  • SMH at those who disagree. Call me old fashioned, but I am under the crazy idea that exercise is intended to create an adaptation in an organism by introducing applicable stress response. But heck if we can count carrying groceries as exercise, then every time I do the dishes is exercise too. And people wonder why they…
  • Carrying groceries as exercise? This is a joke, correct?
  • Gym I part time at reopened in May. I was recalled two weeks ago, and regardless, I’ll continue to train at home.
  • I have been building my home gym over the last five years. I started with the Rogue SML-1, Ohio power bar, some black iron 45 pound plates. Over the years I have continually bought and sold making profit on my sales to reinvest in better equipment, new or used. I treat my home gym like a business. I just recently replaced…

  • The thing looks like it’s awesome for cruising around, but for exercise I’m skeptical.
  • Fitlist. Cheap. Frills free. Efficient, intuitive GUI.
  • T Nation is a fun distraction but as far as programming from their website I have never used it. I’d look into, in no order, Juggernaut Training Systems, renaissance periodization, Barbell Medicine, Reactive Training Systems Or the hybrid method for solid programming forward powerlifting, strength, or physique. I’m…

  • I like to log the very few meaningless calories I burn doing housework and then crushing massive laundry basket PRs as exercise.
  • They are confused. Don’t do what confused people do.
  • Iron Master adjustable dumbbells. Get in line quick.
  • Good news is you got the big threee, bad news I doubt you’ll be able to adhere to twoadays, especially with a run the day before a squat session. But go ahead, give it a try. You’ll figure it out and adjust, or fail and give up: perhaps you’ll even hire a trainer. There are much better economical ways to accomplish your…
