  • I do Intermittent fasting and have lost about 10kg in less than 4 months. I don’t track or weigh my food and and I eat whatever I want in a shorter window. I do low carb, and I eat a lot of whole food. Somehow, it’s working for me with minimal exercise.
  • All I know is I have lost 9,6kg in 3.5 months and 6-8kg to goal, so who knows why I couldn’t lose before. Who cares? Not me, I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. Happy days and thx for the debate! 😊
  • I find that home cooked meals are really hard to track. I make almost everything from scratch. Ugh! Try adding lots of ingredients together in a recipe and work out exactly how much you’ve put on your plate. 😝 Today I tracked my food for interest, 1350 cals. Pretty average day I would say and this morning the scale shows…
  • The only thing I can’t figure out was why I couldn’t lose weight while on 1200 cals doing several small meals a day. I tried tweaking it around to eat more as well, tried 1400 and 1600. I even tried 800 against MFP’s guidelines. I might track for a few days just out of interest to see how many cals I consume in a day.…
  • I thought IF was nonsense before I tried it myself. For years I did the 1200 calories in the form of several small meals a day but I didn’t lose weight. I can’t figure out why the calorie deficit didn’t work but IF does? I’ll track my calories for a couple of days just for interest to see if there’s much of a difference.
  • Absolutely, many people don’t lose weight on IF for many reasons and many gain so it has to be done right. Nothing but water and black coffee/tea, not even stevia during the fast. All I know is that I have tried WW, Isagenics, raw vegan, doctors diets, nutritionists, zero carb, weighing and logging every morsel over the…
  • I don’t know tbh. I eat whatever I want when I open my ‘window’. I don’t count calories, I eat until I’m satisfied. I have the odd glass of wine or dessert occasionally. I’ve lost 8,4 kg or almost 20 lb in 3.5 months! This works! I can’t describe how good I feel. There are a few Facebook Intermittent fasting groups you can…
  • Okay, so I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for 3 and a half months, and I found it to be nothing short of miraculous. Calorie restricting does not work for me. I don’t do Keto but I don’t go overboard on carbs either. I fast super clean. Water and black coffee. That’s it. Believe me, I have tried just about every diet…
  • I usually eat lunch at about 2 pm , dinner at about 6.30 and close at 7. Since my last post I have done a few 40 hr fasts here and have lost 7kg in about 3 months and have about 10 to go. Other than that, water and black coffee. I never thought I could go without food for that long but it’s not as hard as I thought! I do…
  • Yep, it’s amazing how everyone is different, what works for one doesn’t always work for another. I’m just soo grateful that I’ve finally found a solution. I just hope it keeps working for me. I eat a lot, but good real food and not empty calories, in a 4 to 5 hour period. I thought I’d be tempted to eat junk food but the…
  • Thanks Heybales!
  • Thanks bonniejo I didnt even think of it that way! I Think it might be a pinched nerve because I have pain going from my lower back to my hip and burning down my thigh. Hard to say how long it will take to come good, but I have a fantastic chiropractor who works miracles so hoping it won't take too long! :-)
  • Ok, feeling better now. Gained cms have come off again so I am breathing a huge sigh of relief. Jen you did say to expect some water weight gain so maybe that was it. I blew up like a balloon alright! Decided not to weigh myself for a while. Only measuring right now.. Happy!
  • Thanks so much Jen! At home after work I don't move much.. Other than making dinner. I didn't do a reset and have been building up to TDEE -15 and got up to there yesterday. Yes, been feeling hungry some days and feeling tired during workouts but the gym aircon isnt working properly and we have had some 40 degree celcius…
  • Upped to 1900 cal a few days ago, weight and measurements pretty much the same, BUT I am getting stronger, fitter and firmer. Really glad I took photos a few weeks ago so I can compare down the track. It might be time to up some more because I am still hungry half an hr after dinner! Did a killer weight workout with a PT…
  • Nothing! Worked out every day this week so siesta day for me today!
  • I had that a few times! I sweat excessively, but somehow I don't ever get that typical underarm odor. After a workout, however, I smell like an industrial grade cleaning product because of the ammonia stench! I did a bit of research and it's the protein being broken down. Some say it helps to take in some carbs about half…
  • Add me if you like! I am a bit new to this too! Really feeling good physically and mentally since eating more!
  • I have an update!! Here I was this week, expecting no change to my weight and measurements, because of my body getting used to a big increase in calories per day...Not too surprisingly, I lost 100g. But, the centimeters are melting off suddenly! 2cm off waist, 1,5cm off neck, 3cm off hips, 2cm off my thigh! Edited:…
  • @nineateseven‌ What an awesome hubby you have! Just the fact that you have his support will surely help to keep you on track! I totally understand obsessiveness about underestimating calories! It's been a struggle to learn to love food and not see it as some kind of enemy which wants to mess up my body by making it fat! My…
  • Update: I am suddenly feeling so hungry! It was hard to eat more the first couple of days but today my stomach was rumbling! I haven't felt hunger like this, for ages. Something's happening!
  • Thanks so much for your replies! Its great to hear what worked for other people! After years and years of severe calorie restriction, I am so ready to do something which nourishes my body instead of depriving it. After a month of crazy exercise, my body is exhausted so Jenbecca, your advice to reduce the exercise a bit…
  • I am kinda new here! Used mfp for a short while 2 yrs ago but need to jump on board again! Would love to have some new buddies!
  • This is a great thread! Here is my personal experience. I had been eating 1000 calories or less for a long time, and exercising regularly. And I was gaining weight and didn't understand why! Over the space of maybe 4 years I had gained 10kg! Recently joined MFP and it has been a real eye-opener! Since eating more, I…
