  • This is exactly how I feel. I'm all for reducing the white flour & white pasta and making better carb choices but to give them up completely? Nope, not for me. I like bread, pasta, beans & legumes too much, not to mention fruit.
  • 43-year old here. Starting over again as of today. I'm already almost 1000 calories over what I should be so that right there tells me that I NEED this app. I used MFP before and got to my goal weight but then got lazy and stopped logging my food. Then I stopped working out and slowly the pounds crept back on and here I am…
  • Does almost 40 count? I'm 39 but will turn 40 in November. I have noticed that it's harder for me to lose weight now than it was 4-5 years ago.
  • Same here. I don't know what site you used but mine wanted me to eat an astronomical amount of protein. I couldn't keep up with it so I had to adjust my percentages. I think I am set now at 40% carbs, 30% protein, & 30% fat. I try to keep the carbs as low as I can but I don't sweat it if I go over because most of them are…
  • Maybe you are not eating enough. I work with a woman that does way less heavy lifting than you and she eats a minimum of 2800-3000 calories a day. She is maintaining her weight but I think that 1200-1300 during the week when you are dong heavy lifting for as long as you are isn't enough calories. Maybe raise your carlorie…
  • THIS!!! So true! Not to mention that one saying...it takes 4 weeks for you to notice a difference, 8 weeks for friends and family to notice, and 12 weeks for everyone else to notice. Don't give up and don't be so concerned with the number on the scale. Also...I agree with a previous reply...eat more protein! I know you…
  • For me I was just tired of feeling blah. I wasn't fat but I was chunky and I wanted to feel better and I wanted my clothes to fit better and finally something just clicked and I started seeing it as more a lifestyle change instead of a "diet" and it totally worked for me. Of course the sad part of this story is that was…
  • Couldn't agree more! If I had 300-400 spare calories I would have real ice cream.
  • Exercise generally helps me feel better during mine so I don't really change anything.
  • Oh my gosh...so true! I first started my journey on here 12/27/11 and I was 173.8lbs. I worked hard and got down to 150.8 by 10/8/12 and was SO ecstatic! I felt great!! And then I got comfortable...translation; lazy...and before I realized it, I had crept back up to 160. Then slowly made my way back to my original weight.…
  • You should still have a search box above the list of your foods where you can type in the food you're looking for and search for it there.
  • Do like oatmeal? Try some overnight oats. And if you don't like them cold, you can always heat them up a bit. Smoothies are a good quick breakfast. You could keep a blender at work. Fruit & yogurt parfait with some lowfat or homemade granola sprinkled on top. Hard boiled eggs can add protein to just about any breakfast. I…
  • We usually use our slow cooker on nights that we will get home later.
  • Try having a salad with it. Or half of a sandwich.
  • This! I love Fitnessblender!! Pop Sugar Fitness is another good one.
  • 6 days a week. I do cardio every morning before work and go to the gym 3 nights a week after work to do weight training. I also get up Saturday morning and do cardio. Sunday is my rest day.
  • I'm doing Insanity right now. Just finished week 1. I have knee issues so sometimes I have to modify the work outs but I LOVE it. Its the only workout that I am truly drenched in sweat when I'm done. Plus you do a new workout each day so you aren't likely to get bored. I highly recommend it. Since you are wary of spending…
  • Arms and hips. And NOT in a good way in the hips either...lol...
  • That is a great article! OP I am back again too. A few years ago I lost 25 pounds and once I got lazy and stopped logging, I slowly gained back 20 of them. I kept going to the gym but I was also shoveling an additional 1000-2000 calories in my pie hole on a daily basis. Can you imagine how much I would have gained had I…
  • I love this one!! <3
  • THIS! I stopped logging one day and that turned into two...and two to three...and so on until I had gained all my weight back minus 5 pounds. All that work I did before? Down the tubes. So I'm essentially starting over again. Don't let one day ruin it for you like I did!!
  • I wear the same shorts for my morning workout 5 days in a row and then throw them in the wash over the weekend. They're that moisture-wicking material so I just lay them out over the edge of the tub to dry overnight.
  • Do you have a farmers market nearby? We typically have grilled chicken salad for dinner every Monday night and we buy the produce from a local farmers market. We spend less than $20 and get 3 large heads of romaine, a basket of roma tomatoes, 4-6 cucumbers, & 4-6 bell peppers. It gives us enough to have our big meal salad…
  • Get a heart rate monitor for a more accurate number. Otherwise, use the lower number. That's what I would do.
  • ^^^^This! And crock pot meals...there are a TON of healthy ones out there. We just had one last night from skinnytaste.com
  • We used to use the Country Crock Lite as well and one day it was on my shopping list but the store was out so we decided for that week we'd just use the real butter we had in the fridge. I researched a comparison of the two before I put it on my next shopping list and made the decision then that we would never go back to…
  • I was going to suggest yoga too. And try more upper body like one of the previous replies said. Your legs don't necessarily have to be moving for you to burn fat. No one likes feeling "stuck"...good luck!
  • Skinny Taste has a lot of good recipes using ground beef/turkey. I've made the Stuffed Pepper Soup and it is AMAZING!! Lasagna soup is also good. If you don't want to do soup, you could make some healthy sloppy joe's.
  • I am!! And I can't wait!!!!!!!
