  • I could have written your post myself. I hate the gym and I want nothing to do with it. SO..... I went to nerdfitness.com and found a beginner workout that I can do at home. I also have PCOS, along with Hashimoto's and Fibromyalgia, and Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot. That makes walking SO much fun (note sarcasm). There…
  • Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration. I also have thyroid issues and every day is a battle to stay on track but reading your post helps me to remember that it CAN be done!
  • I know how you feel. I used to ride for my job so I rode 8 hours a day (or more), 6 days a week. I was very in shape and very confident in the saddle. I am still the same person with even more experience but my weight and level of fitness definitely leaves me feeling less confident than I used to. I pretty much avoid the…
  • Thank you!
  • I love it! I am in N. Texas also. Feel free to add me as well.
  • (Tofu) Double YUCK Meatloaf
  • I don't really like it as I have to use the unsweetened version (pre-diabetic) so I mix it with my smoothies and with almond milk. I usually only drink/use about 1/2 cup at a time but if I can use less for pro-biotic effects then I will use LESS! LOL! I only use it for pro-biotics, not because I like the taste.
  • My endo/pcp suggested a low carb approach. By that I mean that he wanted me to cut out all processed stuff - sugar, white flour, etc. When I follow it, I lose weight. That being said - I also have Hashi's so I try to stay away from gluten too. I got really burned out and quit MFP and just said to hell with it, I am gonna…
  • This ^^^ When I follow gluten free, sugar free, etc. and really try to eat minimally processed food, I feel a lot better and manage to lose a little weight. I am back to MFP after a long hiatus of not behaving myself and by NOT eating as described, have gained back every pound I lost.
  • Add me! I have Hashi's/HypoT. I have had it..... well, forever I guess.
  • My name is Mindy. I live in Colleyville, TX. It's just NE of Fort Worth, still in Tarrant County. I have two horses, both are Paints. My mare's name is Dixie, she is a sorrel overo (my profile pic) and I also have a gelding named Lonesome. He is a tobiano palomino. Although I have shown Lonesome, Dixie is my show pony. I…
  • I am new here too and trying to deal with the pain and other fun that FM has to offer. :) I think the worst is the pain (obviously) and the fatigue. I KNOW that exercise will make me feel better in the long run but sometimes pushing past the pain to do it is just too much. I do however, ride my horses whenever I get the…
  • I personally think (based on no scientific evidence whatsoever) that making them go gluten free and have as "natural" a diet as possible will only benefit them in the future. I want to do it with my kids, just not sure where and when to start. I am a little afraid of the backlash as my daughter is a super picky eater. My…
  • I am STILL working on getting my Armour levels where they need to be but I felt WAY worse on Levothyroxine. When I first started it, I didn't notice a change at all. It took the dose being increased twice to start feeling better. I started out on 60mg and didn't start feeling better until 105mg. I am now on 120mg. I go…
  • There are A LOT of people on here with Hashi's. Try the "Hypothyroidism" group. There are a lot of knowledgable people that have done a lot of research and have a lot of great info. A couple things have made a big difference for me (when I stick to it!): Gluten Free - I FEEL better. I dont know that it helps with weight…
  • FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC!! You look great!
  • My current weight is 241lbs. My goal weight (for now) is 175. According to the calculations, if I were to "maintain" at 175, I would need to consume 2320 calories per day. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! If I eat over 2000 calories per day right NOW, I gain weight. I am maintaining at 1800 cals per day. Technically, at…
  • You look great! I have a long way to go and get really frustrated with the whole thing sometimes. I needed to read your post today. Thank you! Keep up the great work.
  • I recently went to a clinic and the clinician had us move our horses on the lateral in order to pick up the correct lead. I am sure you know what that means but I'll explain just in case..... My gelding has trouble with his right lead. The left is a piece of cake but I have to cue just perfectly for the right lead so the…
  • Thanks everyone. I couldn't keep three horses for several reasons and in order to buy the mare, I had to sell one of my current horses. I took Snazzy to his new home today. From the moment I met the owner, it felt right. She has two other horses, both mares, that are beautiful, fat, healthy, and obviously well taken care…
  • My friends and I like to ride the Trinity Trails on horseback! We just did a ride from the Stockyards to downtown and back.
  • Sometimes I get a feeling - FloRida Just Dance - Lady Gaga Those are my workout starting songs!
  • You are doing a great job! I also have Hashi's and I get very discouraged sometimes. I recently started a workout called "Peak 8" and I am hoping this can send me back into losing mode. I have found out that it does not matter how little I eat (try to stick between 1500-2000 low carb/gluten free), if I do not exercise, I…
  • No, not TOM but I did think that maybe I need to cut back on the carbs a bit. I asked my mom about it also (she IS diabetic) and she said I could just be having issues from the weekend as well. She said my pancreas is overloaded and trying to get all the sugar and crap out of my body and might be having a tough time. That…
  • ^^^ This! I have hypo/Hashi's and it seems like I have to starve and exercise constantly just to maintain. If I eat and dont exercise, even if within calorie goals, I gain. It really sucks. I am gluten free, working on dairy free, and stick to low sugar (for other health reasons). I eat lots of protein, veggies, limited…
  • A wonderful dressage trainer once told me "Riding light has NOTHING to do with your weight!" I weigh more now than you did at your starting weight and don't have any issues either. Other than needing to use a mounting block to get on my 16.1 hand horse! The problem with my riding and weight is not that I am a bad rider…
  • My horse drags his feet too. I read an article from a dressage trainer that suggested alternating 2 poles on the ground, one raised slightly (a few inches), 1 pole down, 2 poles up, and so on. Mix it up basically. Work them at a walk, trot, canter, etc. This is supposed to help them pick up their feet, work more off the…
