  • There is a clear health outcome connection between age and vaccination status. Targeting people 50+ is being smart about the whole pandemic, unlike how it has been handled. And our goal should be to shift the scales by focusing attention on prevention for that age group. Any penalties should be modest rather than…
  • I could get behind this for the US, if it was "for all adults over 50". With that restriction it would likely pass SCOTUS review since it targets the people most at risk and who are overloading/disrupting our healthcare system
  • I suspect more people are flooding the ER lately because other test options are too backed up. They have symptoms and just want to get tested, not admitted. I was very fortunate to get drive through testing same day I was showing symptoms after being exposed. I think everyone is going to get covid, whether you've had one…
  • Isn't there an underlying assumption you would then get another booster every three months, to keep you at the peak of protection? I'm taking the approach that I'm already due my shot, and I need the booster to get me through the rest of the winter/spring. Maybe by that time we'll have a "new and improved" version…
  • I noticed I'm sleeping better now that I track it with my fitbit. I assume some daytime things are going on, which is causing your mind to race in the night? Maybe try positive sleep affirmations to help calm your mind! * I invite peace and serenity into my space. * I am calm, I am safe, I am at peace. * I look forward to…
  • LOL, I'm feeling it.
  • This is too complicated I can get a 40" TV for under $200 or spend $3,000 on a 77" TV. Both give me equal access to entertainment and news. Do I pack my lunch or eat out frequently? Is my car 10k used or a $35k new purchase? Both can be reliable transport. Do I go to 24hr Fitness, or use a deluxe gym with a personal…
  • Instead of eating less, increase your activity, which gives additional health benefits. Do daily walks as an easy way to increase calories out.
  • WHY NATURAL IMMUNITY DOESN'T COUNT IN THE USA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz7fZOfPf8M My Summary:* CDC recommends vaccination even if you've had COVID due to the lack of data * Israel study supports Natural Immunity alone is effective for relatively young and healthy people, but not those with comorbidities. * Natural…
  • Don't stress out. What counts is your trend over weeks and months. Likely you'll be over more days than you are under, and still lose weight.
  • Thanks for the link, it does support the vaxx is better at preventing hospitalization than prior infection!
  • Bad news from across the pond - Europe becomes COVID-19 epicenter again; world deaths down 5% Here's an interesting Korean study on how social distancing and mandatory masks reduced spread on mass transit. I'm glad we still have a mask mandate in my city. Safe traveling in public transport amid COVID-19
  • That link doesn't say what you think it does.* It only looks at a group hospitalized for COVID symptoms * It shows unvaxxed admissions are 5.5 times higher than vaxxed COVID Admissions * It didn't include any datapoints on natural immunity from prior infection So, it supports the expectation that getting vaxxed reduces the…
  • Are you trying to say the study is bad, or his commentary on the research? You can do better than just throwing out an ad hominem
  • While maybe not your intent, this sounds to me like we should treat the unvaxxed as lepers. In fact, getting vaxxed is more about reducing their risk of hospitalization and death, not the spread. Even the vaccine makers don't claim it reduces spread, they claim it reduces symptomatic illness (less hospitalization and death)
  • I think the only workable strategy is to require everyone to wear masks, regardless of vaxx status. Keep the message simple and both groups are susceptible. Compliance isn't 100% but at least everyone has the same rules.
  • I'm just talking about the real world, and in my area the vaxxed act like their are bulletproof. Only vaxxed people are allowed to go to events, bars or restaurants. Places where they are mingling unmasked.. Since unvaxxed can't even enter a bar or restaurant, they are stuck at home. They are also required to wear a mask…
  • That was my take as well. I find pets at the gym very distracting, and they make me feel inadequate (cause I can't train my pets to behave that well)
  • I really like my fitbits, but they do seem to have a life that isn't much beyond warranty. I almost got garmin this cycle but went with the cheaper fitbit.
  • If she's not on the same path as you, get her commitment to support you but don't try to involve her too much. It you two are constantly talking about weight loss, it'll be a point of conflict. So talk about other things that don't put her on the spot about dieting. This is your path not hers. You'll know if she later…
  • Both can be true.* The vaxx makes you less sick and quicker recover, so you you less contagious * The vaxx makes you more confident, and you reduce social distancing and engage in more risky behaviors (no mask socializing), so you are more contagious.
  • I don't think that's correct, if it was we wouldn't have seen the spike in recent months with the majority of citizens already vaccinated. The numbers are higher than before the vaccine was available and my state was leading on getting vaxxed (WA). I'm fine with some pressure on people getting vaxxed, but we had that…
  • I recommend the basic fitbit. I found I really like how it records my sleep, I'm sure it's not perfect but it's mostly right and helps me focus on getting good quality sleep. It also integrates here if you are tracking calories.
  • Our leaders have consistently messed up with their COVID messaging. The Vaxx reduces your risk of hospitalization and death, which also frees up our ICU capacity. This is a powerful enough message by itself, without the prior pretending it makes you immune/bulletproof.

  • Another John Campbell update, on low Vit D and increased mortality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwNgKJ-7YWQ
  • Accelerating the vaccination of young people is probably the best and fastest way to shut down COVID (herd immunity) without having to use a big stick. If we are going to raise insurance rates for unvaccinated, it should be focused on people >50 yrs old, since they drive hospitalizations. Most people were like me, their…
  • While vit D is super important, I'm OK with it not being tracked here. I get tested and manage through supplementation and time outside. I don't think tracking in food would help much since it's in very few foods in consequential levels, and it is highly variable. How wild was your salmon :/ Farmed salmon has a markedly…
  • I try to do both. I accept myself for where I am, I've reflected and it's the result of my actions after college (when I had my best bod). I also want to change, to improve my future health and activity levels.
