  • I went to the mall to buy "riding" boots yesterday. I managed to squish one foot in a boot, the other wasn't happening. How is this an NSV? Even though the boots were too small, they were NORMAL calf, not WIDE calf. In that, I consider it a NSV!
  • Oh, don't start out doing anything too crazy. My first thing was limiting snacking. It was really hard at first because the afternoon snack on the long drive home was more habit than hunger (and a whopping 1,000+ calories!!!). I replaced it with a piece of fruit or some veggies and a beverage.
  • Since you were talking about protein powder and yogurt, I thought I'd chime in. I often have a snack of this at the end of the day. Here are the stats from one of the days: ...........................................................................cal.....carb......fat.....protein Bodytech - 100% Casein Unflavored, 1…
  • I did Atkins years ago. Lost 60lbs in 39 weeks (I found an old tracker). For me it worked. This time around, I've lost 80lbs so far (about half way to goal) doing WW which is not Keto - though some people do do keto on WW. From my experience with Atkins, I know that carbs are my enemy. When WW added beans as a zero point…
  • Now I'm working on the hitting 90 lbs lost by NYE.
  • If you're in the Philly area, Dragon's Guide to Philly Fabrics is a good resource (though a little dated, hasn't been reviewed in a while).
  • Did my virtual 5k yesterday morning, have a 10k turkey trot coming up. Still plodding along. 21.32 miles down, 1910.68 to go.
  • IMO depends on how many bells and whistles you want. I have a fitbit 2 that I really like. The main plus for me was waterproof - I had just started water aerobics as part of PT when I got it. It automatically figures out what I'm doing (I was surprised it knew swimming when I was swimming). Before I got a tracker, I used a…
  • I know what you mean. I started WW at 318 (started attending meetings at 305 so that is my official start weight). I've lost 80 so far (238 - it's weird to type that  ) and have had my ups and downs (more ups than downs lately LOL). My first 50 I thought were "easy" - they came off in 6 months and I thought I'd be at…
  • Like @UnixGuru a loss this week, but not as good. (My WW weigh in is noon on Wednesdays) Fortunately, I didn't gain with my too much partying and not enough logging. I started off my Wednesday with a virtual 5k (I NEVER do this sort of thing, virtual or otherwise). I walked up and down the street (literally, the road…
  • That's an interesting experiment. I wonder how it would be received......
  • I have had bad knees since I was a wee lass. In college, I discovered rowing machines in the gym and fell in love. In fact, I so loved rowing, the women’s crew coach saw me and invited me to join the team. Being someone who was always the first to be cut from a team in tryouts, I was ENORMOUSLY flattered. However, the…
  • I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of X causes [disease] comes from anecdotal evidence - I do thus and so and have [disease] therefore thus and so caused it. Without scientific evidence, there is no actual conclusion.
  • Past Tookland and on my way to meeting with the dark rider. 8.33 miles in. I have a virtual 5k coming up, that will help boost my numbers.
  • Rough weekend, too much fun not enough logging. Hopefully I don't derail all the good I did in October!
  • Hi. I look forward to getting to know you.
  • Ended up having to re-start since it didn't record (and it's nicer to start on the first of a month). 3.85 miles yesterday. Out of Bag End and on my way to Tookland.
  • Like @UnixGuru a gain this week. (My WW weigh in is noon on Wednesdays) I too think it was water weight since on the 30th I pigged out on popcorn and the burger I had for dinner tasted like a salt lick. So, to combat that, I'm gonna be drinking (water) like a fiend this week and hopefully will be going the right direction…
  • Seltzer here too. I have a corny keg rig so I can make it in 5 gallon batches. My step-mom loves to drink quinine water (aka tonic), says it helps her not get leg cramps. I make tonic syrup and other mixers.
  • What @kami3006 said. I see it in the clothes I’m wearing, but in the mirror, I still see the person I was 80lbs ago. We are our own harshest critic.
  • I was trying to think of that. New boots? Nah, all the cool ones will be done for the season. I’m not a shoe 👠 chick, so I’ll have to think of something … 🤔
  • Ah, I guess you're in south jersey. Driving to work in north jersey, I hear lots of talk on the radio about bears. Regarding wildlife - we have large predatory birds in my area (SE PA) like eagles. I have cats. We do not let the cats out unsupervised nor do we let them leave the porch (which they learned really fast). We…
  • I think also you need to consider where you are. If you're in the middle of the bible belt, they probably won't go over well. OTOH if you're in Haight-Ashbury, nobody would notice. I've stretched my ear piercings (modestly by most standards) and my mom likes to remind me she doesn't like it. Where I work has a very…
  • I got the "you're making us look bad" last week. they had deposited a dessert tray in the kitchenette with cookies and fruit. I grabbed a banana. One of the guys nomming cookies said I was making them look bad - though I knew he was making a joke about it.
  • s'truth! When I'm not logging, I'm not losing or, at least, maintaining. I know not tracking is how I got to where I was and tracking is how I've gotten to where I am. full moons are awesome! I love laying in bed and looking out the window at the moon-dappled yard.
  • That's awesome! I wasn't quite that high, but I was about 320. You go!
  • I had one earlier this year. I was "waffling" around in the 250's for a couple months. Then, one week, I went for my weigh in and the receptionist gave me a weird look. I had dropped 8 pounds in a week. The only thing I did different was added a couple ounces of ACV here and there. I'm sure it was something else, but I'll…
  • i've found the blog "deserts with benefits" offers some less guilt recipes.
  • Nope! I took pole classes until I got a hernia (I was also 300+ but everyone in the class was SO supportive!). I thought it was a lot of fun! I also think TRX is fun! As for what else you can do - I'd say TRX. If you're handy, there are some great instructables where you can make your own for under $10 (I'll be posting one…
  • You've piqued my interest. I'm also March (but a little further in). What with the holidays and such, this would be good. HW - 325 SW - 318 CW - 238 Challenge GW - 203 GW - 168 - 155
