  • Two consecutive days of running! Still no time to catch up. Job is crazy! But it's a 3 day weekend for me (gotta love working for a bank), so I should have a bit of time to relax. 2/5/18 - 5.5 miles 2/8/18 1.0 miles + step class 2/9/18 - 5.5 miles 2/13/18 - 6.0 miles 2/15/18 - 5.0 miles 2/16/18 - 6.0 miles Progress: 29…
  • Again, not trying to catch up. Just a quick check in. Work is keeping me super busy, and I haven't gotten many runs in. I did run 5.5 one day last week (can't even remember what day that was), and got in 6 miles over lunch today. Slim chance that I'll make my goal this month, but at least it isn't due to injury or illness.…
  • I'm not even going to try to catch up, as I've been MIA all month. Haven't done much running due to being busy with the new job. I also bumped my new medication up to twice a day, so am dealing with the same awful side effects again: nausea, fatigue, etc. Hopefully I'll get back to normal in another week or so. Hope…
  • Made my stretch goal of 100 miles today. Ready for a rest day tomorrow. My legs are tired after 5 days straight (that started with my long run)! I thought this might be my highest mileage month ever, so I went back through my training logs. Nope--my highest mileage month was January 2016, at 107.1 miles. That was also the…
  • Hmm...I stomped my January goal into the ground (should finish at right around 100 miles and goal was 60 miles). If everything goes according to plan, I should be around 100 miles again in February, but I'm hesitant to put up such a lofty goal. I think I'm going to go with 75 miles to allow myself to take extra rest if…
  • 3.75 miles and half a step class today. Lots of meetings! And now I'm off to my going-away party at work. Need 4.7 miles tomorrow to hit 100 for the month... 1/02/18 - 1.75 miles + Step class 1/04/18 - 3.50 miles + Step class 1/05/18 - 5.75 miles 1/08/18 - 2.00 miles + Power Pump class 1/09/18 - 2.50 miles + Step…
  • @HonuNui & @KeepRunningFatboy - Love the medals! Now I have bling envy and want to sign up for some races... Well, I had a meeting go over by about 30 minutes today, so I missed my Power Pump class. Had planned on running 2 to 3 miles and then going to class, but I ended up just hopping on the treadmill since class was…
  • As I promised her I would, I took my pupper for a run today. We did 4.75 miles (to get me to 27 miles this week), and that was apparently not nearly enough for her. Maybe I should have taken her with me yesterday after all. Though the lack of potty/sniff breaks was pretty nice... 1/02/18 - 1.75 miles + Step class 1/04/18 -…
  • Unplanned rest day yesterday due to a hectic work schedule. Took a day off from working on the old house today and took advantage of the beautiful weather to go for a long run. Not sure why, but decided I'd try 10 miles and was planning two hours to get through it. Apparently, today was an extraordinarily good day. Ran the…
  • First off - @AlphaHowls - Congrats on hitting goal! Your mileage is inspiring. Another day without nausea today. Maybe I'm over the hump? I hit the treadmill before step class, hoping to squeeze in 3 miles. I had 30 minutes to work with, so I set the time on the treadmill for 30 minutes and just went for it. I was really…
  • I was not well at all yesterday, so did not get a run in. I think the new med is causing nausea issues in the morning. I take it at night, with dinner, and usually have nausea for about an hour--starting an hour after I wake up. I think I did not eat enough calories Monday night, because Tuesday I was nauseated for most of…
  • @LaurenFOB2301 - That sounds like a pretty minor ankle roll (ouch on falling, though!). I'd recommend making sure that you move it as much as possible--to the extent that it does not hurt any worse. Honestly, the fact that you were able to (and did) run on it immediately after is great news (and good therapy). When I first…
  • Well, I didn't get in my 8 miles this weekend. Took Saturday off, and struggled my way through 6.25 excruciatingly slow miles yesterday. I ran in the evening, after working at the old house all day, and had eaten about an hour before I went out (which I normally do not do). Just an off day. Jayde was clearly annoyed by my…
  • Went out for another run over lunch today. Was going to do 6 miles, but decided to make up for cutting my run short yesterday and did 7 instead. It was a beautiful day. A tad warmer than yesterday at 45F (7C), sunny and 15MPH winds. I think this was my most consistently paced run of all time: Mile 1 - 10:30 (had to wait at…
  • @girlinahat - I wear Balega Blister Resist socks. They are made of mohair (still a natural fiber, but hypoallergenic), so should not aggravate a wool allergy.
  • Missed step class again today. We're having an internal audit at work, and the audit entrance meeting overlapped with my class. I ended up taking my lunch break at around 1pm and went outside for another 5 mile run. It was in the low 40s with 13mph winds. I had brought a long sleeve top and capris, which turned out to be…
  • @HRKinchen - Congrats! That is such a great achievement, and I know you must feel awesome! I hadn't run since my Sunday long run due to icy roads up home (ruined my Monday plans), and a doctor's appointment yesterday (ruined my Tuesday plans). Today, I skipped out on my Power Hour class and went outside for a run instead.…
  • Took a rest day yesterday, as we had to make a 4 hour round trip to pick up a parts vehicle for one of our car projects. Decided to try out a true long run today, which I haven't done since September. Took Jayde with me, and we got in 8 miles. Just a few stops along the way for her to sniff and do her thing. Plus one stop…
  • It's definitely scary living in a place where snow is an abnormality. I grew up in northern Missouri and learned how to drive on snow and ice from the start. These Okies are terrifying in winter driving conditions. They all seem to think their 4wd trucks can compensate for their raw stupidity... A couple years ago, I drove…
  • @7lenny7 - Love it!
  • Decided against a rest day today. I just have too much energy--tired legs be damned. It was chilly out (19F/8F wind chill OR -7C/-13C wind chill), but sunny. The running was uneventful. Slow and steady at a 10:39 pace. I ran my normal route from downtown to the river trails. Crossed the bridge over the river and ran the…
  • Welcome, @Link2Life ! It looks like you're off to a great start. (Side note: Your horse is beautiful! I ride also, and own a BLM mustang and a QH) I got in 2.5 miles on the treadmill before step class this morning. Set it for the Rolling Hills program, level 1. Avg pace was 9:48/mile (24:33 total time). It was pretty…
  • Well, the temp didn't climb quite as high today as the meteorologists were promising, but it was still in the low 50s. It was pretty windy, though, at about 25mph (out of the south). Luckily, the wind was in my face for the first half of my run, and at my back on the return trip. Made the second half feel a lot easier! The…
  • 2.5 miles on the treadmill today. Slower than yesterday @ 9:13 per mile, but still a good pace. Had to stop at 2.5 so that I could go to my step class. Tomorrow is supposed to be super nice (60+F!?! In January?!?! Yes, please!). I'm going to skip my strength class tomorrow and just go for a nice longer run (4-6 miles,…
  • Tried to catch up on reading, but gave up with several pages left. I did not run this weekend. Just poor planning on my part and a lack of motivation. I did bust out 2 miles on the TM yesterday at lunch, before my strength class. By the time I made it down to the gym and got changed, I had 17 minutes before class started.…
  • @Ryokat - I usually pull my coat sleeve up a tad, and make sure my Garmin is against my skin, covering the space between my sleeve and my glove. That way it has contact with the skin and is also visible, while all of my skin stays covered by something. Have never had a problem with that "exposed" part of my arm getting…
  • Went out for a run over lunch. It was 44F and sunny with a light breeze, so very pleasant weather (sorry all you folks getting hammered with winter storms). Didn't really have a plan for distance. Just decided to take it slow and easy and keep it to 1 hour or less. I ended up doing an out and back run down on the river…
  • 3.5 miles on the treadmill today (in 30:49 - 8:48 per mile), plus a step class. I'm a little behind pace on my goal, thanks to what remains of my cold. I think it will be totally gone after another few days, so I should be able to get back into the swing of things. 5.25 miles completed of 60 mile goal.
  • Setting my goal at 60 for this month. I finished December at 53.1 miles, thanks to a cold and several consecutive unplanned rest days to finish out the month. 60 miles should be very doable for me. I plan to increase my distance per run some this month (instead of doing 5K each run). Just taking it nice and easy!
  • Yesterday was an unplanned rest day for me. I picked up a bug from my sister's kids over Christmas. Had a 102f fever and runny nose. No fun. Fever was gone today, so I came to work. And I ran 5k over lunch to try to clear my head a bit. It was way harder than it should have been given the pace, but that's to be expected…
