  • Thank you so much for sharing. If anything I think you make a great case for how we treat our health is a primer for how we let ourselves be treated, as well as a first "defense" to what we cant control! But on a more personal note, I applaud you for your adventures into the foster care world. It's very close to my heart…
  • You're right! This consistency is the key, and we have to have discipline to make the right choices for what's good for us. We live a healthy lifestyle because we're aware of the value of our health, an awareness impossible if we don't appreciate the value of ourselves. That was the point I was trying to make. Thank you…
  • @RunningChaplain @Meljoy2018 @littlewomensmom @HoneyBadger155 @lbryans929 @tinafaye13 Thank you all, and good luck on your journeys! If we get to share success, it's because we also share the struggle. Keep it up, you all are inspiring. Thank you. <3 @girlwithcurls2 @AJB1014 @dhiammarath @scalebeater @smartaleca @jean133mj…
  • Second 5k last night, I did NOT run any extra miles (like my first one...) and brought my average mile time down! I'm also less sore this time around, even though I ran more of the course than I did last time. Third and final summer 5k in four weeks!
  • My first 5k race was tonight. I came in second to last, 48 minutes. Because I had gotten confused and ran 4 miles instead of 3. This is the funniest, most confusing victory I've ever had. Less great, my family wont stop screaming "Stop Forrest Stop." But I guess I earned it.
  • Finished c25k last week, tonight is my first official 5k! I guess it will be a 'victory' when it's finished but I'm already psyched.
  • I've been training for my first 5k and have noticed that the c25k workouts are much easier for me to complete on a treadmill than outside. For the past few weeks I've resolved to run outside only, going down to different parks as much as possible to get through each prescribed workout. Today I went to the park and realized…
  • Beautiful dress! I've seen your pics and journey along the way here and you're always an inspiration, but today I noticed your username and it cracked me up. :D Well done!
  • Aah! I finished Week 5 Day 3 (the doozy) of c25k... that's 20 straight minutes of running. I didn't think I would do it on the first go but I made it all the way through and only the last 3 minutes or so felt unbearable. :D On top of that, I hooked c25k up to MFP (just learned you could do that!) and it registered my jog…
  • I guess it's not a victory yet, but I signed up for my first THREE 5ks! There's a series of three this summer, one each in June, July, and August, giving me plenty of time to finish training and also check my progress month to month. Just committing myself to doing them is a huge step for me. It definitely gives new…
  • The past several weeks the scale has gone steadily up. Haven't been logging regularly, which is certainly part of it, but... This morning I got new trainers for my birthday, and I promptly broke them in with a little C25k, week 4 day 1. Ran for five straight minutes! After I showered up I tried on the new-with-tags Michael…
  • You look beautiful. Confidence, smile, curls, swimsuit, body--- YOU make the beach look fun. Way to go!
  • Exactly one month ago I posted about being terrified to go to my first boxing class. I've been going at least once a week (most weeks twice) and tonight I got so into the work out that it registered on my Fitbit as a 'sport' for 15 minutes! I really did fall in love with it. Can't wait for next week!
  • Ate my Whole30 compliant sweet potato, broccoli, and tuna dinner, while my family ate pizza. Only wanted to cry a little bit. (Mostly joking.)
  • SO awesome. Keep posting along your journey- I hope day 364 is as triumphantly tongue in cheek as day 34! Way to go.
  • Had to get an appropriate Eagles shirt for work today, guess who's sporting a youth size! Super pumped for the Birds now. (: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!
  • That when I'm regularly exercising I crave sugar less. The last couple months have been the busiest of the year, with 14 hour shifts. Work involves an easy 10k steps, and lifting several pounds periodically, so I haven't felt bad leaving workouts by the wayside. I have, however, felt bad. Cranky, irritable, exhausted, and…
  • Thank you! It really is amazing. Right now I'm focusing on training because I can only commit to one (hopefully two) classes a week and I am hardly in prime physical condition. It would be amazing to spar some day--- I won't pretend I wasnt having visions of Rocky all day. (: How long have you been boxing? Any tips?
  • I did love it! Yes, the exercises before hand are super intense, but they were genuine warm ups, not exhaustive. I was totally jazzed! Here's to two more years, and beyond.
  • Signed up for a local gym a few days ago, and followed through on trying the boxing class tonight! Love, love, LOVED it. I have a new go to! Now to request a schedule adjustment to have Monday and Wednesday evenings free to box....
  • Thanks for the reassurance, everyone. I LOVED it. It's a skills class, so we were hitting but pads, not faces. ;) The instructors gave me some tips to practice at home. So sad I won't be able to go until next week!
  • That is serious strength to pull commitment and motivation out of losses that big. Kudos to you. <3 Haven't been trying for kids but have been exploring how nutrition can balance hormones and reduce PCOS. Jumpstarted that process with the Whole30 program and my period has been regular for the six months since then, for the…
  • Well the sweater's the same!
  • Too excited to wait until halfway... Or to take a more neat, scientific set of pictures. 9 months, 39lbs down, 41 to go.
  • Always hated my legs, especially calves. I've never been able to wear over the calf boots. Today, I went shopping, and I wondered if maybe the inches I've lost meant I'd gone down from a fourteen. Only a picture can say this so I hope it works.... https://i.imgur.com/nwXyC8R.jpg
  • The parking lot at work is teeny tiny, not just the number of spaces but the size of the spaces. The car next to my tiny Kia Rio parked WAY too close for anyone to get in... So I just went to the other side and climbed into the driver's seat from the passengers! Didn't accidentally honk the horn, change the gear, adjust…
  • Not a nurse, but I wear scrubs for work. My XLs have been too baggy for weeks. The Ls I picked up today fit! My butt hasnt fit into an L in YEARS, and not a camel toe in sight!
  • Completed Day 1 of Couch to 5k! (Third attempt, third time's the charm!) :)
  • I think that is exciting! It happened to me the other month that the scale didn't budge more than half a pound, but all my clothes started slipping off. So something is happening, right? Good luck the rest of the way!
