  • You are stunningly pretty. What a jerk!
  • I was recently introduced to roast veggies and now they are a staple of my house. Here is one combo I recently tried because it was the combination we had on hand in the house. yams (peeled and cut into chunks) fresh (homegrown in my case) beets peeled and cut into chunks Onion cut into quarters or large pieces drizzle…
  • I have a calorie allowance (generous but not ridiculous) and will stay within that. I have added up the calories of what I'm eating ahead of time so there are no surprises. Happy happy Thanksgiving. May your list of blessings ever be increasing.
  • Great JOB!!! Congratulations on both accomplishments.
  • Woot! Very nice! Keep up the good work! Great job.
  • Thanks kak1018, I didn't even go to college until my children were born and I was in my 30's and I discovered that I needed some mental stimulation....I thought I'd get an associates degree. LOL. I did get an associates degree that I'm very proud of.....but then I kept going. It is never too late. You will do it when the…
  • Thanks, fjones0021, It has been a very very long hard journey.
  • HONK! That is me tooting my own horn. I passed my oral preliminary exam a week ago today. I am now officially a Ph.D. candidate, (two and a half more years of research / writing to go.) I did this while getting back on the exercise bandwagon, I've been going to the gym three-five days a week the last two months and bike…
  • Edit: I just read of your long hours. Hmm. Dogs need to go out sooner than 15 hours. A cat would be better, or two cats. Dogs would work if you or someone else could spend some time with them to let them out and play for 1/2 hour or so at lunch or even at the nine hour mark. Or, get two female rats. They are smart and…
  • I've been gluten/wheat/dairy/egg free for more than a dozen years. What are you looking for specifically? Easy to pack along hiking? Lunch stuff? I'm not checking in much because I have a super busy month, but email me if you need to and I'll get back to you. Lara bar Luna (I have trouble with these - there may be some…
  • Good luck. You can do this. You are so worth it.
  • Train yourself to only like the high quality goods. Become a bit of a chocolate snob. I really like scharffenberger 70% dark chocolate. It is so rich and filling that you don't need much to be satisfied. Their bars are small and spendy enough that it is a treat and not a daily indulgence.…
  • As a native Oregonian I concur that Oregon has a lot to offer. *If* the grey (more than the rain, the grey) did not get me down more and more each winter I would not have left. I lived in a number of places throughout Oregon from a small town of 350 people to Portland (I've also lived in and loved Los Angeles - so I've…
  • There is a lot to like in many places. It sounds like you are flexible and open and would fit well in many places. So look at the climate of the programs you are looking into. What will help you reach your goals. Are there other considerations such as nearby airports or other amenity that you will want to factor in? What…
  • Well, Portland Oregon, ski in the morning, surf in the afternoon, bike anytime.
  • Height 4'11" start weight: 117 current weight: 114 weight lost this week: 0 lbs goal weight: 105 lbs (BMI of 21) MIL passed away this week, TOM, DH out of country (for MIL), kids are a handful not to mention school. I'm delighted scale still says 114.
  • Congratulations! Twenty-five was the first age I liked. It only gets better from there!!:flowerforyou:
  • Congratulations! You've saved enough money to pay for college for each of your first two already! And enough for your retirement, and family vacations, and enough to contribute to, if not outright pay for weddings. Wow. In this day and age that is a tremendous accomplishment. You say your husband is going to do all the…
  • or this link (or google "nordstrom dresses" and click on guest of the wedding for ideas.) http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/6014174/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6014174 But really, your friend will just be delighted you are there and not too worried about what you are wearing. Be semi dressy and confident and comfortable.
  • Nooo, please not the gym. I'll take sweat FAR over an instant sinus headache, asthma, and, if I don't get out of there quickly enough possibly even a hospital visit. (Natural scents, flowers, lavender oils, they don't do this to me, it is the artificial scents that do it...) The entire floor of the building I work on is…
  • There are a number of us out here who are allergic to perfumes and colognes. So if you meet a special someone it might be worthwhile to find out if she is allergic to prior to setting off allergies or asthma. I hope you meet the right slow-dancing partner soon, with or without the scent.
  • Thanks all. DH made it back to Dublin in time to say goodbye and is able to be with his family during this time.
  • A lovely woman passed on today. She had a smile on her face. Her family is sad but at peace. ~Laura
  • What a great story. I feel for your wife...although I don't understand her response she is certainly entitled to it...just be supportive of her and call her several times a day while you are away. Good luck in figuring this all out. Sometimes these things can get very complicated, but are very worthwhile.
  • An addendum to my previous (very long) post. We taught our children hitting others is wrong and, as noted, we don't spank. We taught them to stand up for others. My then third grader had the fortitude to go and talk to the principal when her teacher, who she liked and admired very much, hit a child in her classroom.…
  • First, I have not read through all the posts, just a few so I am not aware of where this has gone. I am posing my opinion only, not judging others, just saying what works for us and why we feel as we do. I know parents who spank, but most of the parents I know do not spank. I don't spank. I was spanked often and usually…
  • Make an appointment with another doctor, without telling the first, for a second opinion. You can ask your eating specialist doctor for a referral. After you meet the second doctor you can then make a decision whether or not you want to change doctors. You can actually interview doctors. IT is not right that you dread…
  • Aw, thanks everyone. It means a lot.

  • MIL suffered a heart attack and is in a coma. DH is traveling back to Ireland to be with her and his family. A decision to continue life support will be made Thursday. I won't be around very much. ~Laura
