  • Congratulations! You look amazing! You're right, it's all about the mindset.
  • I know how you feel, sort of. I have relatives coming into town for two weeks and it's their first time in the US. They want to hit all the places they've heard about but never tried. Five Guys, barbecue places, mexican food, everything. I want to enjoy their visit with them but it's too early into my efforts to really let…
  • Only do it if you're intending to stay low carb for the rest of your life. I'm doing low carb because I have high blood glucose, and the changes I've made to my diet are what I intend to eat forever. Even if you do lose weight on a low carb diet, once you start re-incorporating carbs, you'll have to re-teach yourself how…
  • I was really struggling because I love my crunchy snacks. That's where I really started thinking I might cave, but I recently found a couple of things that scratch that itch. I was really desperate when I combined raw bell pepper with cream cheese and smoked salmon, but it was surprisingly delicious. I put it into my…
  • It's worth repeating so I will! Track everything. For things you crave, track them ahead of time. Every time I have a craving for McDonalds, the amount of calories, sodium, and carbs in a tiny meal is enough to turn me off. And even if it didn't then at least I'm making an informed decision.
  • My heart goes out to you. I've been there. You feel like you're powerless to stop putting those chicken nuggets in your mouth. You don't know how to stop. It spirals deeper as you berate yourself and continue eating to numb the pain. I know it's easier said than done, but try to tell yourself that this is your choice. Say…
  • Thanks for all the feedback! Glad to see I'm not imagining it. I will be much more mindful of my carb-substitute intake from now on out!
  • Interesting! Do you think there's a scientific reason behind it? At first I thought it was the sudden increase in fiber, but after a month I thought maybe that wasn't it after all...
  • I love this thread. Even if I don't have a mini goal at the moment, it motivates me to think of one, which then motivates me to keep going! Today, my mini-goal is to GO TO THE GYM. I haven't been to the gym in over a year, and I have a huge mental block against going. But I want to reach my 10,000 steps today but it is…
  • Two to report today: 1. Dinner last night: Everyone ate burgers and I had a salad with burger patty on top. Today's lunch: Braised chicken with a big variety of vegetables. The NSV: Every bite was DELICIOUS! I really enjoyed my meals even though just a couple of months ago I would never have been appetized with a plate so…
  • Yes I tried them for the first time this weekend. I couldn't quite get over the texture. I finished the meal but didn't feel like it satisfied my mental-craving for noodles. But I know a lot of other people love them, so I guess it's just not for me! Too bad... I keep thinking I can find a carb-substitute that will…
  • I think it's good that you recognize you're eating too little. Your body probably wants more, but the hungry feeling is gone (as it is for me). There are definitely days when I want to hit my calorie goal but I just can't bring myself to eat anymore. When I look at my diary, I usually find that I've eaten a LOT of…
  • I really haven't *seen* any changes to my body, but today for some reason I decided to try on the shirt I bought a few months ago that was slightly too small for me. I bought it before I even decided to try to lose weight, and I bought it thinking "why am I even buying this, I will never wear it." Well today, it fit…

  • Your strength and persistence is an inspiration! What's the best (or some of the best) parts of losing all the weight??
  • I'm sort of in the same situation. I've been hovering between 225 and 222 for the past three weeks. I'm trying not to get frustrated, and I'm still logging everything, telling myself all the usual: Weight loss isn't linear, make sure you log as accurately as possible, don't live or die by the scale, etc. It's tough not to…
  • I'm still trying to build a lifelong habit of tracking, so I log everything every day even if I have to guess. And I do end up guessing a lot because I'm still learning how to best use this tool and the scale and nutrition info sites, etc. But I want to know what I'm eating, so I can learn where I need to make adjustments.…
  • Have you tried looking at the Maintenance boards? They have a thread dedicated to losing the last 10 lbs...
  • Actually, I didn't make any sort of assumption about your personality or character. I'm sure they're great. And no, I don't think men wanting to find a mate is so horrible. How is that any different from a woman wanting to be more attractive by getting slimmer? In fact, I don't even know who you're talking about when you…
  • Thank you! Those pictures look amazing... I will definitely try it.

  • I was with you until I saw this one. What happens when you actually reach your goal weight and goal body fat percentage but the "being treated like a human being worthy of a bit of affection from time to time by someone I'm attracted to" doesn't come with it? This back and forth battle with your body might be something…
  • I have noticed it being a LOT easier for me this time around, because of this particular belief. I have done atkins in the past and it was purely a weight loss thing with no understanding of the nutritional science. I cheated (and I use the word cheat on purpose) a LOT on atkins and of course gained all the weight back…

  • The fact that you're italian and so surrounded by carbs on all sides makes it even more amazing!

  • You can add me. I'm usually around 1300 and try to keep under 50g of carbs per day. (Ignore yesterday, I had a carb day)
  • Thanks! Yeah my low carb tortilla got soggy and couldn't hold up to the pizza sauce/cheese/toppings. I'll keep an eye out for this bread and try it out!

  • That's very admirable! I've been trying to keep in that mindset, but the image of fresh, hot, cheesy pizza kept intruding into my brain. But I'm seeing it as a small-scale victory that I planned it out, kept it in control, and went straight back into LC today. So you don't miss anything that is carb-loaded? Or do you just…

  • I try to divorce the food thoughts from what's going on in my body. I used to always think, "Wow, I have cramps, I must eat chocolate." True, the cravings are there, but I used to turn it into this causation thing which excused me from having rational thought about it. Now, I tell myself that I have a choice and these…
  • I hope to be able to make a similar post in a year or more. Thanks for the inspiration! Congratulations. You look great!!
  • It's been 42 days since I've started trying to slim down, and while the numbers on the scale were moving, the inches aren't coming off. I measured myself at three different points and am still getting the same numbers for 4 weeks. Well yesterday, I noticed a t-shirt that used to fit me a bit snugly was a TINY bit looser. I…

  • Ok I found something that's working pretty well for me. Lieber's Thin Rice Cakes w/ Sea Salt. Only 4g of carbs per slice, and very satisfyingly crunchy and munchy. I've also used it as a toast-substitute. Today for lunch I had a Lieber's Thin Rice Cake with avocado and cheese and it was delicious.
  • What do you think of those shirataki noodles?
