  • Hey! Wonderful job! I know others have said it, but swimming is a great alternative for days you may be in too much joint pain. Not a replacement, but still wonderful. I would recommend a step counter, or pedometer, to track how much you walk. Wear it for a week or two to see your trends, then make slight adjustments…

  • Thanks for the input so far! When I get tired, I typically take a walk around the facility I work in. At least once per hour. Though, I can only do that so many times before it takes away from my work requirements. Breaking my intake into smaller, but more, meals isn't possible either because I can't bring food into the…
  • I use to survive on Rockstar energy drinks until I started logging them here and realized how bad they are. Lol. I swapped to the new Mountain Dew EnergiIng Fruit Punch. For sleep... Example last night: Sleeping by 9pm. Awake at 1230am to fees the baby. Sleeping by 1am. Wake up 450am to go work out. Leave no later than 6…
  • Unfortunately I can't work out after work. It just wouldn't fit my schedule. I'm usually getting 6 hours of interrupted sleep. I have a newborn at home. More sleep is always desired, but rarely possible. Lol It might be a calorie issue? I'm eating the recommended amount for my weight loss, and eating back my calories I…
  • You can download Samsung Health, if it isn't already installed, and use the work out programs it offers. There is a wide range of exercises you can do, for free, for whatever your needs are. They have programs that don't even require equipment. They have programs that don't eat up a lot of time. The programs also includes…
  • Yo, Everyone is more than welcome to add me! I've been looking for others in this situation. I typically park a little farther away in the parking lot than I use to in order to get extra steps. Before I get to my office, I usually take a tour around the facility. Taking the tour around the building gives me an extra 600…
  • It appears that you're adjustment is double counting. I know this because your goal of 1500 cals is based on your Total Energy Expenditure for the day. (Total you burn based on your bmr and activity level.) This number, is almost identical to your "exercise" for the day, which tells me it's double counting calories in your…
  • Grace mentioned it above, but swimming is great exercise and easy on the joints! Kudos for thinking of that!
  • The last few reply's have been right on! Thanks for helping me understand. I was including all calories burned for the day, from walking, sleeping eating, etc. I would add exercise separate, subtracting it from my overall total. I didn't understand, hence the confusion, that the calorie intake is = to my TDEE, not…
  • I have my apps disconnected from MFP. If I don't manually input anything, it won't show me how much it thinks I've burned. (Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?) If I can figure out that piece, then I think the rest will come into place as you've instructed. Thank you.
  • Great s3. I only everything manually because s-health seems erroneous information to mfp. Height 5'6 Weight 158
  • Thanks for the input, Regarding the calorie burn via steps, the steps also include calories burned while resting all day as well. (so, not just calories via steps.) It would be misleading for someone else to read, but it's just a way for me to track all of my calories, minus the calories burned via workout. Should I not…
  • I got 10,000 steps 5 of the last 7 days. I have a desk job and I really have to stay on top of this in order to reach the 10,000 steps. Now that I'm praying more attention to this, I'm looking forward to this challenge for next month! Keep up the good work everyone!
  • I hear you man. I got a 2 year old and a 2 month old. The dad bod is alive and well on my end. Sugar has been a big battle on my end. Finding replacement beverages has been a battle! I noticed that eating almonds and cashews have helped cut cravings. Makes me feel full and they are lightly salted. I don't rely on the sugar…
  • I hate trail mix, so I went and bought the nuts I like (cashews and almonds) and put them into to go bags as snacks. It was a little expensive, but they last months. A half of a cup is enough to last me through the day. They are high in calories.
  • I've cut my sugar intake in half (I was bad with sugar), and cut out a majority of sodas (but mostly rockstar energy drinks.) I replaced those sugars with some complex carbs and they give me the energy I need for the day. It also cut down on cravings cuz I feel more full. Sending friend request.
  • Could it be a matter of "when" your weighing yourself? Always in the morning? Always at night? If you're going through a gallon of water a day, I would expect someone to weigh more later in the day than when the first wake up. I think, that alone, could give you varied results.
  • Would it be better to just add calories burned that my s-health tracks manually since there is a discrepancy? I saw a FAQ that shows that there is an actual tracking issue going on with s-health, which was part of my confusion.
  • I've done this and forced a couple of syncs. There is almost a 600 step difference.
  • I use my s3 with Samsung health. It pushes all the info to my phone. Then mfp updates the Calorie Adjustment, but doesn't seem accurate. S3 and Phone say I have burned 1500 calories. The calorie adjustment shows i will burn 2600 with 0 calories earned. Which makes no sense. Do the calories you burn from your daily step…
  • @AnnPT77 that thread is what I'm looking for! Thank you! I appreciate all the feedback from everyone. As I pointed out, I'm not trying to cut weight, just replace the fat with muscle. Not going to buy anything to make this happen. Just looking for suggestions or tips. I love being 160, I just need it to be a healthy 160!…

  • I got those numbers plugged in for weight goals. Will mfp adjust my calories needed if I start training? Or do I need to do that manually? I'm still learning, thanks for the input.

  • I know there's been a lot of responses, but I personally love doing core exercises. One exercise that took me forever to complete was drawing the alphabet with your feet together while on your back. (Like lifting your legs 6 inches, then drawing in the air.) Do capital letters first. If you make it through those, do lower…
  • Thank you for all the responses. 1) I made my diary public for viewing. 2) I started tracking so I have a better understanding of what I'm putting in my body. (I don't usually get 2k calories per day, and my activity level burns away most (if not all) those calories I get. I tend to eat bad foods more than healthy foods.…
