For some there is a strong genetic component. I see occasionally young people with cardiomyopathies or valve disorders despite no unhealthy habits and being normal weight or even fit. Some high cholesterol and high blood pressure is also genetic and can’t be controlled with diet and lifestyle and those are two things that…

A personal trainer years ago in my 20s had me deadlift weight that was way too heavy for me, but he insisted I could do it and that was the way to get results. Well despite using proper form I got injured. I now have two bulging discs and constant back pain. Never again.

Anyone have advice for getting rid of snails? I have the tiny ones, way too numerous and small to handpick and they ruined my lettuce and strawberries. I have tried slug pellets and deadline without success. Please help.

Good for you! You have some good motivation there! Best of luck!

I’m not sure if you’re male or female. The most important thing for women is having a high HDL. For men, having a low LDL is more important. As many have mentioned, you can usually improve it some by increasing exercise, lowering saturated fat intake, increasing healthy fat intake, and by increasing fiber. Some of the best…

Phentermine is all bad. It is very similar to meth. All of the stimulant drugs can cause heart damage. I haven’t heard of Topamax being prescribed for the main purpose of weight loss. Maybe that’s a new thing. It is typically used for migraines and other things.

As many have suggested, you can change the amount of milk or sweetener to lighten it up. I love a latte too. I use soy milk, less than 1/4 cup usually, some Splenda or Monkfruit, and sometimes a little Ghirardelli sauce for a treat. Sometimes I also use creamer but once the total calories add up it is still about 80…

Congrats on your weight loss. Don’t give up on life. Diverticulitis is very common, especially as people get older. A lot of people like low carb diets but in general they do not provide enough fiber for good gut health. You might be able to still keep your current plan but add a bunch of berries, a little oatmeal, greens,…

This is very true.

Based on your photo and measurements there is no way you are 30% body fat. Those things are wildly inaccurate. You look about 19-20%, really lean actually.

I have used multiple calculators and get about 1250 for my BMR and I’m 70 lbs heavier than her. Her numbers are believable. She is the size of a child, not an adult.
-
I don’t find that hard to believe. She is tiny. I am short, weigh 155lbs currently and my TDEE is around 1500 cal per day with 5000-7000 steps. I know this from years of data.

Very active

See your primary doctor for basic labs first and a few extra like CK level. Do not exercise until you have been cleared to do so.

You are losing fast. Your expectations are unrealistic.

I usually have pain. I have migraines which have gotten worse since the birth of my son. I also have two lumbar bulging discs and nearly constant pain but the severity varies. Sometimes it is nagging and mild, sometimes severe. I got injured from a personal trainer that had me lifting way too heavy. I’m really hoping…

For your size, 1400 is too little. Definitely eat more.
-
If you are at maintenance, then decreasing your calories will help you lose weight. In the past when I had only a few lbs to lose, I had to be very restrictive with my diet and be extremely active to lose anything.
-
If it has been at least 6 weeks since you weighed yourself and you are not losing, the answer is almost always because you are eating too much. The problem is, some people may think they are eating 1200 calories, for example, but they are really eating 1800 because of logging errors, cheat days, etc.
-
If you’re losing a pound some days, that is not all fat. Some is water weight and it will go up and down.
-
Drinking water has nothing to do with weight loss. The amount you are eating now is your maintenance level. You can lose weight by eating less. I know this is easier said than done.

At 5’0” 120 lbs I was a size 4 …..oh to be that size again.

I don’t think it is true that men have no luck on dating apps. Until I met my husband I had a hard time as a woman. I got a lot of dates but majority of guys were not looking to be serious and it became very clear to me that most of the guys I met were juggling multiple women at a time. So clearly, those men had no problem…

I have a Zip, which is a step counter. I feel it is very accurate. I have used heart rate monitors before and they overestimate my burn a lot because my heart rate goes up a lot during exercise.
-
Wow that’s crazy! Best of luck to you and I wish for you a speedy full recovery.
-
You can probably eat more than that but it seems the exercise burn is way inflated.

The vast majority of people have constipation due to low fiber intake, not low fat intake. Definitely increase the fiber in your diet.
