  • Exactly - I have long moved on from calorie counting and was diagnosed as a diabetic in 2017 so use the app to log and count my carbs but it just made me laugh out loud with the “I can see from your photo that you are so strong and I know you will get through this” - really? From a photo 4 years before I was diagnosed?…
  • No it was a Christcj one. Same pattern as another one a while back … What do you use for mFP Beautiful and fit Single or married Then wanting to go straight into WhatsApp or Telegram
  • you can't reverse it. You can put it into remission but if you then go back to eating the way you did your sugars will just rise again. Low carb - set yourself a limit and adjust - I aim for below 100g carbs. Exercise key as well. And understanding WHAT spikes you. Every diabetic is different.

  • Slight change in my plans - I think two days in a row of schlepping about after disobedient golf balls (lord I lost so many yesterday on the back nine) but more to the point my knees yesterday were so painful after not having played for well over a month (and I am doing two days in a row, heaven help me!). So Friday will…
  • Shifts, hotel food - I am not gonna lie, goodly folk, I was a little trepidatious stepping on the scales this morning and setting about myself with body fat callipers and tape: As always a lot of these measurements are imperial except for the callipers (which are easier to read in mm)... What can I say - it's how the UK…
  • So starting mid-month but I wanted to see what the physio said... hip issue related to compensating for Achilles tendon issue and so easing back into workouts and golf instead of thinking I am a 20yo in the body of a 52yo! Job-wise - I am into the last 6 weeks of this role with no idea if I will get a continuation contract…
  • I have had to bring in fruit because diabetes meds and LC diet has caused severe issues and leaves me jammed up unbearably badly. Have taken to 1oz of dried apricots/dried apple rings and because of severe cramps in my legs I buy Sainsbury's kids-size fairtrade bananas and alternate with apple slices with some sort of nut…
  • I know I have been in head down new job mode since May - Hopefully sticking myself with a new Libre sensor when I get back from a week of overnights in Manchester next Monday and then ready for August. Be interesting to see how the last couple of months with intense summer of sport shifts have affected everything. Although…
  • I have added dried apricots and apple rings to my diet simply to get fibre as low carb blockage is absolutely no fun.
  • I just looked and I set mine to 35% because it was as close as I could get it to 100g of carbs a day. As I wore a sensor a lot in the early days, I have a far better understanding of my carb tolerance, I know I can extend to 125g ON OCCASION but more usually I come in around 80g or below in a day.
  • Been a period of adjustment... first I had to get a part time job just to make ends meet after all freelance shifts as a sports writer on a newsdesk went with the pandemic. Then my lodger got me a job where he worked, doing payroll for film and tv productions, so I had to adjust in being in an office 3 days a week with…
  • On my diabetes diagnosis everything was high but my weight had plummeted, so the overriding immediate concern at the time was get the BG down from a dangerously high level, and stabilise my weight from dropping like a stone. The key for me was getting a Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitor, which allowed me to monitor…
  • I stopped counting calories when I was diagnosed as a diabetic, and instead I use MFP to track my carb intake (the hard way - not using Premium!) I find I usually come in WELL under my calories, and as such I no longer close my diary entries for the day as MFP certainly used to get its knickers in a twist if you ate way…
  • Quick entry - adjusting to a new job in an office (with REAL PEOPLE... and a cat that seems to have adopted the place) has meant no change in weight and a struggle to get past just Treadmill and Spin Bike before being shattered with work. Also this past week was the last week before a new tax year in the UK and it has been…

  • Low fat in the UK at least substitutes all kinds of other nonsense in the form of hidden sugars which do nothing for BG numbers so... no. Low Carb, Healthy fat. Full fat dairy. Dunno (and dare I say don't care) what it's like elsewhere. Even when I travelled overseas I would always get full fat greek yoghurt in my…

  • One of the things I have found really helpful is slipper socks with ice packs. I have plantar fasciitis in both feet over varying years and they absolutely kill me after a round of golf, and these socks are an absolute godsend. I have the ones with a pack for the bottom of the whole foot, and half a pack for the top of the…

  • First some news. As some of you may remember - I have had no freelance shifts since lockdown - and save for a couple of writing gigs for a week at a time, no money outside of rental income from lodger coming in. Lodger has fixed me up with some part time work where he works - payroll for film and Tv productions. I started…

  • Today I feel a lot better but come what may I am glad I had it, and should get the second one within 10-12 weeks. But in terms of my glorious comeback after a month of knee issues and working Aussie hours, it was unfortunate timing. The advice my bestie gave me to massage the arm a lot and pop solpadeine (codeine and…
  • This week... 2 workouts done Logging and carb counting done But my LORD my arm after the AZ jab! Day 1 - aches, drippy snout, sneezing more than Lazarus, and huge headache. Day 2 (Thursday) and I have seen more lively Dodos than my right arm - guess this week is NOT the week I will be practicing my golf swing in the garden…
