  • I lost 50 pounds. I went from a US 10 to a US 0 or 00. I can count on one hand the number of people who have commented. I don't think it's out of jealousy for most; I think it comes down to the fact that I live in a very reserved area. The very few people who commented were all from other parts of the country or world…
  • I use it for maintenance. I'm not rigid on timing. I tend to eat for the first time after 1:00 pm, and I stop by 8:00 or so. If I've drifted a couple pounds higher than my preferred weight, I'll skip lunch and just do one meal a day for a couple of days. I've been successfully maintaining this way without tracking my food…
  • My level is set at sedentary. But my question is what is going on with those numbers. It's not necessarily giving me more calories on more active days than on less active days (273 extra calories on an 18,000-step day but 35 extra calories on 23,000-step day?).
  • There usually is 00 and XXS at Ann Taylor, but you may have to ask them to order it and have it sent to your house. My local AT's manager said she chose to carry more tall sizes rather than 00 regular in store. The other customer (tiny woman who also clearly took 00) rolled her eyes with me at this pronouncement.
  • What's your BMI? A lot of people find they need to be in the middle or bottom half of the healthy range before the fat on their problem areas becomes less problematic. You can't spot reduce. So keep losing fat, and then maybe think about a small bulk to build a little muscle if necessary.
  • There are probably cheaper options for you. I'm 24" waist, 35" hips, and I buy cheap jeans. My favorites are Grana where I'm a 25 in the high-waist jeans and a 26 in the mid rise that hit right at the top of my hip bones. They go down to at least size 24, which should fit you, being an in inch smaller in waist and hips. My…
  • I didn't. My maintenance does seem to be close to what MFP said, but I'm basing that on my weight loss speed only. I don't actually track in maintenance. Instead I weigh myself daily (if I notice I don't weigh myself for a few days or am dreading it, that's a sign to get on the scale and start tracking for a week or two).…
  • I guess what I usually do is about 19:5, sometimes 20:4 or 18:6. I started doing it for weight loss because I'm not hungry in the mornings. When I first eat (at 2 or 3 in the afternoon), I usually have something light (230 calories is my typical lunch), and then I eat a normal-ish dinner (that I track when dieting, when I…
  • If you're feeling low energy still, you might want to get your B-12 and iron levels checked. You should supplement B-12 unless you eat enough nutritional yeast. You can definitely get enough iron without animal products, but B-12 is different.
  • I wear a size 0, and I have them. Make of that what you will.

  • Remember that not saying anything is not the same as not noticing. I dropped five clothing sizes, and only three people ever commented. I decided it's because I live in a very reserved place.
  • Scanning everything is not even close to the same as weighing it. Packaged foods are rarely the weights they claim to be, and the difference is pretty much always in one direction. Something that says it's 100 grams is often 120 or more. You need to get a good scale and weigh everything. Everything.
  • Maintaining 45-pound loss for about two years now. I don't track my calories in maintenance now, but when I did, I found my TDEE to be pretty much what the calculators predicted for someone of my age, height, and weight. I have not noticed the large drop in metabolic rate that the researchers found in The Biggest Loser…
  • The very first thing you need to figure out is the actual size of the drink you are ordering. It's going to vary from shop to shop because not everyone uses the same size large. Find out (ASK) how many ounces or ml are in your drink size. Specify the milk you want used. How many shots of espresso do you get? Subtract that…
  • Like everyone else said, I'd really check with a doctor about the suspected candida. As someone above said, system-wide candida is really, really rare in healthy individuals. Even if you have IBS, you'd still qualify as basically healthy in this standpoint. It really is seen almost exclusively in immune-compromised…
  • How much weight do you want to lose? You're already at the thin end of your healthy bmi range. Your old weight of 118 is severely underweight (bmi of 16.4). At most, you should lose only a few pounds. Honestly, you may just have round cheeks, and I fear that if you really can only perceive yourself as attractive at a…
  • I'm at maintenance but find that eating only one or two meals a day lets me maintain my weight effortlessly, without logging. The few times my weight has drifted upward a couple of pounds have always been after holidays or trips where I was eating more meals regularly, and I lose it pretty quickly when I get back to my…
  • This is me. I don't like how I let myself go, so I don't want to have it mentioned. Lucky for me, I live in a very reserved area, and the only people who've ever mentioned it are either from a vastly different culture or are very close friends with whom I'd discussed it.
  • I had this same experience. I was stuck in my starting size 10s for about 25 pounds, and I swear they fit the same for about the first 20. I searched like crazy and couldn't find anything on mfp about it. All I found were a bunch of posts complaining they'd lost inches not pounds. I just keep going and eventually it…
  • A million times this!! I maintain without tracking most of the time, but I check my weight pretty much every day. That way I will know when I've gone up. It's a lot easier to correct a 2-pound gain than a 10-pound gain! This is also why I keep a relatively narrow range. If I see my weight up two pounds or more for more…
  • I measured rib cage, natural waist (just below ribs for me) and the very top of my hip bones. Even without a lot of extra weight there when I started (or so I thought because my tummy was flat!), I lost s surprising number of inches from those spots. It's also nice to track more measurement spots than just your waist and…
  • I really found this to be true, to at least some extent. I do sometimes still get strong desires for foods, but it's much less than before, and I feel that I an choose to indulge or not, whereas before it was much, much harder to not indulge. When I was losing, I tracked every bite that entered my lips, and I did do ahead…
  • 108 is actually the bottom of the healthy bmi range for someone who is 5'4". At 5'2", the bottom is 101, which would put someone at a bmi of 18.5.
  • I was really tired this morning and just wanted to hibernate inside (don't work today). I made myself clean the house, run laundry, and go for a walk with the dog. I'm still tired, but I feel a lot better both because I was a little productive and because I got some exercise. Before, I would have stayed inside and been a…
  • I find 28s at a specialty lingerie shop near my home or order known brands/styles online. I like to support the specialty shop, so I try to shop there. Amazon has several brands that come in 28 and 30 bands. Just check that it's fulfilled by Amazon and offers free returns. Also, I find that the UK has a broader range of…
  • Measuring cups are really not accurate. How tightly is something packed in the cup? Is your cup even really a cup? I've got two sets of measuring cups, and they don't hold the same amount. Food scales are cheap. Get a digital one and start weighing your food. It's really the only way to be accurate. There are lots of…
  • How do you know how many calories you were eating? Do you weigh your foods? A lot of people come on MFP whining that they've done everything right, but pretty much always they're being really inaccurate in their logging. Read the "getting started on your path to sexypants" thread, figure out a reasonable calorie goal,…
  • I monitor more like this. There are programs and apps you can get to track your weight, but I do it more old fashioned without those. I tend to be between 114-116. Occasionally I'll see 117. Most often I see 115. If I stop seeing 114 occasionally, or if 115 stopped being the most common number, I'd adjust my intake and log…
  • Yes! It's so prominent that I can't rest a book or even my arms holding a book there to read. It jostles my book/my arms up and down a lot. I'm told it's normal.
  • It seems to be off for women with lower bmi. My BMI is 18.9, and it gives me a body fat percentage of 28. That seems kind of high for someone whose hip bones stick out when standing, with a 24" waist. If I lose two pounds, I'll be considered underweight by BMI, and yet my body fat % is close to 30? Doesn't seem likely. I…
