  • Thanks for the tip, I just got a food processor a few months ago - I will try this!
  • Welcome everyone!
  • My favorite is spinach, frozen mango, frozen mixed berries, vegan protein powder, chia seeds, and sometimes coconut oil. If you are new to green smoothies I recommend starting with spinach, you can't taste it at all. Then you can start working more "green" with stuff like kale and denser greens, and maybe even less fruit.
  • Green smoothies are great for breakfast. Usually I'll do an apple and raw almond butter instead because I'm so cold in the mornings and a smoothie doesn't help with that. But during the summer months I do green smoothies for sure.
  • I put them in smoothies. Lots of nutritional benefit and no change to taste. I've been wanting to make chia pudding for a long time but haven't ever done it.
  • Great, thanks for adding them! I've been meaning to try onion bread for years and I never have. Maybe this weekend!
  • Veggievixen79 that is great! You should be proud of yourself! Now just keep it up and discover the improvements your body will make.
  • I just made raw almond milk this weekend for the first time - so delicious and easy, but a little pricey. Also, I don't know how "raw" it actually is but I believe it is healthier than store bought. 1 bag raw organic almonds from trader joe's - 12 oz - soaked overnight 2 vanilla beans, seeds included (I'm lazy, why not…
  • Mary, congratulations on finishing your challenge! It sounds like it was challenging at times, which is exactly how it should be :) Anyone else doing a 30 day challenge in January?
  • You could ask for an MRI. In the meantime, you can try using knee braces while standing or exercising and see if that helps. Good luck!
  • I have an excalibur. It has been great, absolutely no issues, I love it! It is a little loud, but it's just sort of a humming sound . . . I don't mind it. But it is definitely audible.
  • The brand my nutritionist sells is Thorne Research. The dosage is 500 mg 2x daily. Let me know if you try it, I'd love to hear if it helps!
  • Yoga - especially Bikram yoga! (I'm biased). This will give you a good cardio workout that is challenging and will help strengthen your knees. Also, I'm sure your doc recommended bicycling, but I enjoy bicycling with a book, the gym tv and headphones or my iphone - it's easy to zone out and sort of forget you're at the gym…
  • You ladies are exactly right - we all have classes that are "bad" or where we struggle more than other days. We always say at my studio, the only bad yoga class is the one you don't come to :). Even if we can't balance for crap and fall out of postures, lose some flexibility in our back or hamstrings - it is all…
  • Thanks for all of the responses you guys! Meeting with a new nutritionist tomorrow, if she brings it up I will definitely suggest a blood test.
  • I looked for the group but it isn't popping up - can I get an invite please? Great idea, btw!
  • I'm always stiff in the morning classes - a great way to start the day but I have to reset my expectations for my body. I'm planning a 30 day challenge in January. Last year I did a 30 day challenge in January and then a 60 day challenge in March/April. Felt great!
  • Hello everyone! I'm a certified Bikram instructor, I love the hot room. I practice 2-5 times a week, depending on my schedule. I started practicing about ten years ago but have definitely had lapses in practicing - a few years when bar stools were more important than backward bending ;). Anyway, glad to find this group!…
  • Yep, I have an excalibur. It's great for making snacks, and it has a temperature control so you can keep things full of their raw enzymes. You can dehydrate fruit and vegetables really easily - sundried tomatoes, mango slices, pineapple are my favorites - and you can also make easy things like flax crackers. Feel free to…
  • Dave's Killer breads are the best! Always vegan and he does have some low cal breads that are still totally delicious.

  • I think part of the problem is getting to that place where you want to binge - for me, the binge starts long before the bag of chips get ripped open. If I want to be able to have a healthy relationship with my body I have to be healthy - that means dealing with stress in other ways and taking care of myself so that I don't…
  • I think there have been a lot of good responses on here so far. What struck me the most is the comment that he would divorce you if you gained weight. That, my friend, is conditional love and is no way to live your life. Bottom line (for me). My advice, to take or leave: Ask him about it, give him the chance to clarify his…
  • Amy's roasted veggie. It's vegan and delicious, and totally hits the spot when you want to sit on the couch in your pjs and indulge :)
  • I've been at this for over 5 months now, and my wight loss has certainly not been linear. I went weeks and weeks without losing, and then would drop up to 7 pounds in one week. It is totally random (or at least complex enough that I can't understand). But over those 5 months I've lost 25 pounds- averaging 5 pounds a month,…
  • Bump! Thanks for sharing!
  • Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to stay away from soy and wheat right now because I'm having joint inflammation issues and haven't figured out what it contributing. But I do have some peanut butter, and I could try the rice/lentil combo. Thanks!!
  • Yep, I eat it with either jicama usually or raw flax crackers that are really easy to make in the dehydrator. Your salad looks great!
  • Ok, I'll start: Author: Alissa Cohen Book: Living on Live Food Ingredients: 3 cups sunflower seeds, soaked 8-12 hours and sprouted for 2-4 hours 1 c lemon juice 1/2 c scallions 1/4 - 1/2 c tahini 1/4 c braggs aminos 2-4 slices red onion, cut in chunks 4-6 TBSP coarsely chopped parsley 2-3 med cloves garlic 1/2 tsp cayenne…
  • Hey everyone, I'm 30 and have chronic knee pain- such a bummer! I have patella alta with a lateral patellar tilt- which means my knee cap rubs constantly and causes inflammation. One thing I highly recommend is yoga! Especially for arthritis pain. When I had my MRI done they noted that there wasn't nearly as much damage…
  • I love jicama! I use it to eat with dips or I'll sprinkle cayenne paper and lemon juice on it. I always slice it up so I just eyeball a cup of it and call it good. Lots of fiber I think, but anyway it makes me feel full!
