Going out to eat...
I usually don't go out to eat. I'm going to a place I've never been to before, the Belmont Brewing Company. http://www.belmontbrewing.com/ I'm not sure what--other than a salad--would not sabotage my plans. Any ideas?

Holiday letdown
I'm struggling with what I think is 'holiday letdown'. I'm NOT looking forward to heading back to work. I don't want to self-medicate by indulging in food. I did some cleaning today. But I don't deal with the post-holiday very well.

Need some helpw/recipe
I'm in the process of posting a new recipe (for cream-cheese pie). But I'm having trouble getting a calorie count for two items because of the odd measurement (the calorie counter here hasn't been much help). 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt is way less than a full serving. But no one I know uses just 2 tablespoons. I'm…

Expensive coffee?
http://shine.yahoo.com/shine-food/starbucks-most-expensive-cup-coffee-ever-worth-185800479.html "Not long ago, $7 was the price of a hearty lunch. Now it's the price of a cup of coffee. Not just any coffee, but a Grande-sized cup of Starbucks' new Costa Rica Finca Palmilera. The rare beans are part of the chain's "reserve"…

What to do with pumpkin?
I have two pumpkins (one rather large and one small one). Looking for some ways to enjoy it. I already know about the seeds, but I would like some other ways to enjoy it. The only way I've got at hand is to cook it down to mush (about the consistency of canned pumpkin) for pumpkin bread.

Exercise question
I've been using a sledgehammer to mash aluminum cans for recycling (our can crusher's messed up). Set them up, squash them down. Does anyone know how many calories I might have burned by repeatedly lifting a sledgehammer? I don't see anything comparable in the strength-training list.

What happened?
I eat and I exercise. But I've gained some of my weight back. There's something I'm either not doing enough of or doing too much of. Down to 150 pounds, back up to 154. :noway:

Need some banana ideas
Some low-fat ways to enjoy bananas (and other fruits) besides fresh and dehydrating (I have a dehydrator, which works for some fruits).
-
Frustrating
I'm noticing that a few of my faves are not as low-fat as I thought. Tomato sandwich--what I thought was a low-fat sandwich is actually about one-fourth of my daily calories (480 calories on a 2000-calorie budget). :noway:  Homemade potato salad--150 calories :noway:  Has anyone else ever had that kind of…

Dealing with stress
I don't deal well with stress--one of my ways of dealing is to eat (and the wrong stuff, at that). Could use some advice.

Birthday food?
I have my birthday coming up. I'm not sure if I want to have it be a cheat day or not. :drinker: The family tradition of late has been for a trip to a nearby restaurant. One serves very good Asian food; the other is an all-you-can-eat buffet of all sorts of Asian food (along with some salad). The latter is about the only…

Caffiene question
I've been wondering about caffeine. Anyone know if it's possible to be addicted to it?
-
About caffiene
Does anyone know about sodas and caffeine? I've decided to cut down on my soda intake (if you've seen my food charts, you'll see diet Coke on there). But if I'm going to cut down on diet soda, I do want something sweet to take its place. Besides flavored water, which I've already started drinking.

Confoozed
:noway: OK, my slider says I've lost three pounds. Hooray! That was yesterday. TODAY....the scale says I've jumped from 154 lbs back up to 159 lbs. Granted, I ate, and I drank quite a bit of water. I've been told that I could NOT have gained five pounds in one day, that it's all water. What say you?

A friendly warning....
about walking or sitting in the sun--wear a hat. We had a yard sale at our place today, and I got my exercise with that and taking our signs down afterward. Since I unwisely did not wear a hat, I am just now coming off the WORST headache of my life. :frown: And a sunburned scalp (OUCH!).

Rice salad recipe?
We have an abundance of rice at home, as well as a soon-coming abundance of little yellow tomatoes. Does anyone have a good simple rice-salad recipe?

Veggie plate recipe
This is a favorite with MOST members of the family (except the one who insists on meat for dinner). Note: we've only tried this with the Velveeta cheese. I don't know how it will work with other cheeses. The cooking can be done ahead, when the weather is cooler. Needed: 4-5 of your favorite veggies-in-season (example:…

OOPS! Went to reverse gear!
I just started in MFP (I've only been in a week). Here I am, trying to lose weight, and I'm already in reverse gear. I'm dealing with people who bring not-so-good food in. How do you all stay motivated and keep going?

Weight loss/odd situations
How do you deal with the food when it's a situation where you didn't make the food (like a potluck or a holiday party)? When we can make our own meals, we have more control over what's in it. But in a party or family gathering, this is not always the case. What do you do?

Newbie w/sweet tooth
Hi! I just got started here. One of my stumbling blocks: a sweet tooth!
