Pre/Postworkout vs food
I see a lot about having a "preworkout" and especially a "postworkout." First, are these basically shakes made with protein powder? If not, what are they? Are there benefits to having a protein shake over just eating a high protein food, and if so, what are the benefits?

Chin ups or pull ups?
I'm doing StrongLifts 5x5; still a beginner. I would like to add some of the assistive exercises into my routine, but I don't want to add too much too soon. I'd like to add either chin-ups or pull-ups, but not both yet. My goal is to strengthen and add definition in my triceps. Should I add chin-ups? Or pull-ups?

Alternative to barbell row?
I find the barbell bow, even when I do it correctly at a lower weight, puts a lot of strain on my back. Is there an alternative lift? Is the barbell row even necessary?

Recipe builder dumps ingredients
anyone else having this issue or know what to do about it? I use an iPhone to build my recipes. They are usually fine the first time I add everything and log the recipe when I have a serving. But if I go back to the recipe a week or so later, suddenly all the i gepredients in the recipe except one or two are gone -- and of…

Woo hoo, experienced the "whoosh"!
I had been getting a little frustrated, as I had been weighing, logging and exercising diligently but bouncing around between 140 and 143 for two weeks (I'm 5'5"). Today the scale said 138.5! Happy dance. Now I hope it's not just water weight and the scale says something similar tomorrow (I'll take anything below 140!).…

Recipe calories not logging correctly
my apologies if this has been covered before. But how do I get the MFP ios app to log recipe calories correctly? When I input all the ingredients for a recipe and then log the recipe, the calories logged are always significantly less than shown in the recipe. For example, today I made a breakfast recipe of scrambled eggs…

Want to lift...what to look for in a gym/trainer?
I want to begin lifting but have never done it before. I want to start with a trainer, to learn good form and habits. What should I look for in a trainer in terms of knowledge/certifications, etc.? And what should I look for in a gym in terms of weights/equipment?
