You don't have much to lose, so 2kg in a month may be realistic for you. You may want to try increasing your deficit. Try going down by about 100 calories a day, and see what happens. Take it out of your carbs, not protein. Many will say this has nothing to do with weight loss, but your fiber is really low. You should be…

It took a few days when I started dieting for my appetite to decrease, but now I find I'm satisfied on much less food than I expected to be. Unfortunately, this goes away every time I indulge in sweet treats. For some reason, sugar just doesn't satisfy me the way other foods do, I want more, and I end up having cravings…

I enjoy the idea that I've "earned" calories through exercise. There are days when I just could not make it through on the 1200 that MFP has given me for the day, and exercise calories allow me to go over it without getting red numbers in my food diary. I don't eat when I'm not hungry, though. I certainly don't eat all my…

It appears that the study was done in Greece, which is why the women were from there (they didn't import participants).... In reading the abstract, you will notice there were 91 participants with PCOS and 48 controls (no PCOS, regularly menstruating), so 139 total women. Average BMR for PCOS women was 400 calories lower…

For my first one, this link summarizes how the men involved gained fat free mass while losing weight and body fat http://muscleevo.net/calorie-deficit/ The full info is available on this one: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/58/4/561.abstract 14 obese females eating 800 kcal/day lost an average of 16 kg over 90 days…

Finally finished it! Sorry for lurking so long. Is it still the 30 day shred if I took waaay longer than 30 days to get through? They removed workout 3 from vimeo. I finally found workout 3 online, the same day that the copy I ordered arrived... She does not stay in time with the music. It can be awkward to look at the…

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9309627 A study where participants lost fat (were in a calorie deficit) and gained muscle at the same time. It has been scientifically established that it is possible to gain muscle in a calorie deficit. Clearly, OP is not obese. However, she may be new to lifting. If she is aiming to…

Different people have different metabolisms. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18678372 Study with 98 greek women with PCOS. Some had BMRs as low as 1116 calories a day taken by indirect calorimetry. I've read posts from women who have been told by thier doctors that their TDEE was 800 calories a day. Having a low TDEE…

According to the online calculators, my strength gains, and my mirror, I've gained muscle mass eating less than 1300 calories a day. People gain more on a bulk, sure, but as long as the muscles are challenged and there is adequate quality protein intake, lower (but healthy range) total calories does not stop protein…

Congratulations on your success so far. Two pounds a week is great, and will get you safely (if not quickly) to your goal. Rapid weight loss puts you at risk for gallstone attacks. You can google the risks of rapid weight loss. When eating so few calories, it is really important to be sure of getting adequate high quality…

How long have you been losing for? Changing your exercise regime or how you eat can cause you to hold onto water, which can mask weight loss. Hormones may also cause you to hold onto water (if you don't like what the scale says, sometimes you just need to wait a week). Not drinking enough water can cause you to hold onto…

You look amazing - great work :)

You can scroll to the bottom of the food diary page. There should be a green button to the left that says "view full report", or something like that. If you click on it, it will give you the fiber information. You can customize your food diary so that it shows fiber instead of something else without going to the full…

The difference can come in thermic effect, or the bioavailabilty of the calories. For example, fiber has 4.1 calories per gram, and some calories from fiber are included in the calorie count for any food with fiber. The percentage isn't standard, by my salad on MFP included 3/4 of the calories for fiber, when the fiber was…

I use spices in my recipes, and I enter them in the recipe calculator. You probably aren't missing more than 10 calories per serving though. I'm pretty sure there are entries for a "dash" of pepper. Salt has no calories. Things like thyme or oregano, just divvy up the tsp, like .5 tsp for half, .25 for 1/4 tsp, and .125,…

The test of glucose on oxidative load and the SSB on cardiovascular factors were both causative studies, not correlation
-
The test of glucose on oxidative load was done under laboratory conditions. Sugar absolutely does challenge the body in unhealthy ways. Recompers and those who are very active do need more carbs than others, and being active itself protects against many of the impacts of higher sugar consumption, but sugar is not a…

Good for you - you are doing amazing. You look great. I love your attitude as well. Best of luck going forward :)

If your Dr. is recommending that you eat sugar to reverse heart disease, I would suggest you get another Dr. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2862465/ "Recently, in the Nurses Health Study, a positive association between SSB (sugar sweetened beverages) intake and risk of CHD (nonfatal myocardial infarction or…

There's fitness videos on youtube you can do for free. You can also do things like dancing in the living room to a playlist to get your heart going. MFP posters won't encourage you to lose 3 pounds a week, as advocating rapid weight loss is against the site guidelines, and most experts recommend up to 2 pounds/week.

I find intense exercise, or just being active helps me with my hunger and cravings. It only took a few days for my hunger to adjust to dieting when I started. I get hunger/cravings again after taking a "cheat" day (i.e. family celebration), but only for about a day. I also get cyclical hunger (and lose less that week),…

I'm very happy that you aren't at the mercy of any cravings. The same is not true for me. Piqued by the arguments on the posts, and figuring I needed to slow my rate of weight loss, I decided to try including treats in my days to see how it would go. I bought some Travelling Joe's 72% dark chocolate squares, with the plan…

You were responding to "Eating strawberries is the same as eating a donut" with "keep believing that one form of sugar is somehow magically better than the other form of sugar". I responded that the differences in impact between the sugars in the donut and strawberries weren't magical, they were a function of amount and…

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110717204913.htm Women who were taught to accept themseves lost 7% of bodyweight compared to women coached on nutrition who lost 2% of bodyweight Positivity and self acceptance works better than negativity with long term weight management, healthy eating, and maintaining…

It's not magic, it's the balance of: fiber (3 g/cup for strawberries, 1.3 g per large donut) vitamins and minerals (vitamin c, manganese, vitamin D etc. for strawberries, donut has is not a good source of any vitamins or minerals) antioxidants and phytonutrients (strawberries yes, donut no) protein (1g/cup strawberries,…

Studies done in mice, proposed mechanism is regulation of circadian rhythm. Applicable to humans? With everything we do to mess up our circadian rhythms, I'm not sure if just eating during the day will be enough to fix things. It certainly isn't necessary to lose weight, but if it helps, why not? Since I started dieting,…

"It's quite possible that somebody could take the approach of losing more aggressively, and once at whatever weight/BMI/bodyfat percentage goal they have, moving into a muscle building phase to reclaim what was lost, and potentially beyond." You wrote about losing aggressively. As people lose lean mass due to weight loss…

There's a lot of resources out there. If you want to change how your body looks you could look into programs like stronglifts, or youtube vids like feeding fitness. I would suggest posting a thread or search for existing threads under fitness asking for recommendations for a beginning lifting program. I forget, did you say…

Pizza can have a lot of sodium. You don't need to be sensitive to sodium to have water weight gain from eating out. Fortunately water weight is temporary. Sometimes people do develop food sensitivities as adults. This doesn`t necessarily come from dieting. Pay attention to how you feel when you try different foods. It may…
