  • Zombie thread 5.5yrs old. Strange 1st post from new member, why open old thread.
  • Personally I've found the best thing for me is to make sure I'm properly hydrated. Other than that, its best to listen to our body and have something to eat, if needed. As you have 200 to 300 calories to "spare", then a small snack would probably help, while still remaining close to target.
  • Hadn't heard of this diet, but a quick google search has raised red flags. Cutting out 7 food groups, isn't necessary to lose weight. I would be more concerned about a balanced diet. There's no scientific proof supporting her claims. Any body claiming that by following their diet will result in losing 15lb in 21 days,…
  • It sounds like finding your "maintenance" calories, would really help. To stop going from one extreme (at 1,200 cals) to then the other (up to 4,000 cals per day). Once you know what your maintenance calories target is, you can then make decisions from there. Even a small cut of 250 calories per day, will see a gradual…
  • I was a uk size 5 (ladies) for over 25 years. My weight fluctuated multiple times over this period. With upto 70lb lost/regained & lost again. With no difference in shoe size. The last time I regained, I did gain more weight (115lb). My shoe size did also change, went upto a size 6 & wider foot. Even stranger, since loss…
  • Was just checking out the forums, as having a difficult time. Have just read both yoir recent posts and they struck home. Thanks it was just what I needed to hear.
  • Perfectly normal and makes sense. If calories have been counted and logged (sounds like your doing this). Then it doesn't matter the time food is eaten, as its still the same amount/calories. It seems like it works well for you, giving freedom to stop eating, if full. Saving those extra calories (snack) when you need it.
  • Can you start by making small changes, rather than trying to overhaul everything at once. Its not just about losing weight but being healthier overall. Building habits that will help you maintain these changes and not rebound, as soon as you stop "dieting". Your anology states being "in" or "out", of the boat, but there is…
  • Having read your update, following good advice on mfp, from my own experience. Learning to recognize early symptoms. With lower calories seeming to affect neat as well. I think upping your calories would make sense, especially as you are noticing the difference (through your own experience & accurate data). A slightly…
  • I was on a NHS diet plan, but not counting calories. But kept accurate logs, weighing & tracking all I ate. Spent 3 months dieting, fell of track for a few weeks. But then started diet again. I was advised to follow a low fat diet for my heart condition. My concern was my fat intake was to low, but told this wasn't a…
  • I've found the opposite. Since finding mfp, tracking "everything everything that goes into my mouth", has really changed my life. It takes minutes out of my day, to count accurately. Knowing my calorie target, has given me the chance to eat what I like, when I like, as long as I stick to my "budget". Knowing I WAS in a…
  • As well as my physical disability, I also have a heart condition & autoimmune disease. My days can vary so much between "good" & "bad" periods, of each and can be a delicate balancing act. I detailed my loss in a previous post up thread, that is why I have found tracking on MFP works so well. I can adjust calories…
  • Many of us have, here on mfp. I'm glad to say I have. I'm female, physically disabled & needing wheelchair. With other health conditions. So can't "exercise" in the traditional sense of the word. Using mfp, as a tool, I lost 59lbs (4st 3lb). Solely by counting calories. (Daily commitment to accurate weighing/logging of ALL…
  • Through experience I've learnt the hard way. How under fueling, plus lack of proteins/fats. Can have such a negative impact on NEAT, (as well as my health), without realising at the time. (Even under NHS care). Through finding and using mfp, as a tool, balancing nutrition for health & calories for weight loss, then…
  • For me its logging, day in, day out. Keeps me accountable and on track over time. Calorie cycling allows for "life" but balances out overall. Has helped stopped me from thinking "I've blown it" & giving in for days, weeks or even months, as I have in the past.
  • This happens a lot to me, but experience has shown me its water weight gain (due to health issues). It used to freak me out, but I've learned to live with it. As it can be upto 7lbs, but goes, usually within a week. Knowing its not fat gain & nothing I can do about it helps me. Don't not what it is in your case, but hope…
  • Great work and thanks for the update. It's great to hear NSV's!
  • Its not cheating, its great that you know what your starting point is and building on that gradually. While being able to see progress. Without causing injury. Well done!
  • Was looking for inspiration today, as I'm going through a difficult patch. Day 1394 & counting on mfp, but felt close to the edge (metaphorically speaking). When I came across this and it really spoke to me. Posted it on my feed, but can't add it here, so will quote instead. (Don't know author) Mirror, Mirror on the wall,…
  • It seems to be hit and miss atm. I've not had any problems, but have heard some people aren't able to comment or log. Sorry, I've know idea why.
  • 10 weeks, 4 times in a row! Personally, I lost my final 20lb in this way. Was aiming for 0.5lb a week. I would go 10 weeks, no change, then lose 5lb. Another 10 weeks, nothing. Then drop 5lb. Once or twice overnight, or within a couple of days. So 40 weeks and 20lb. Bang on target weight loss. But long periods, throughout…
  • Congratulations, that's a great loss and it's good to celebrate these milestones along the way. Especially being a busy mum, it's important to look after yourself as well.
  • It seems to happen to many of us, as I've often read in these forums. Personally, I lost my final 20lb in this way. Was aiming for 0.5lb a week. I would go 10 weeks, lose 5lb. Another 10 weeks, nothing. Then drop 5lb. Once or twice overnight, or within a couple of days. So 40 weeks and 20lb. Bang on target weight loss. But…
  • The closer you get to a healthy weight, the more on point your calorie counting may need to be. Especially aa you've been struggling to lose your last 10lb to 15lb for 6 months. I agree taking a diet break as already explained, will really help. Then continue with your efforts to lose the rest of weight needed. (Presuming…
  • I know your stressed out atm, but would just like to share my story briefly. As snacking often gets blamed as unhealthy or impossible for weight loss. But that's not always true. I found one thing that has helped me during times of stress (for different reasons) but finding time to meal prep or eat as planned, wasn't…
  • Quote OP I do pre-log, and I enter some food foods into my diary to see what it would do to my numbers then delete if it pushes me over. But sometimes, I might have a small biscuit or a few nuts after I've complimentary diary and I need to stop doing that. [/quote] I often prelog as well, or see if I have enough" calorie…
  • Great seeing this post from the past. I read it back when I rejoined MFP for the 2nd time, in April 2016. Feel its a good time to add my update. I had been a yo yo dieter for almost 30 years prior. Always lost weight, stopped dieting either at goal or because "life" got in the way. Then regained on a constant basis &…
  • I agree with NovusDies above. The 2 key things that have changed this time round and have altered a life time of weight loss, weight gain, loss, gain and (well you get the picture). Is to log and weigh everything, every day. There are times when I have to estimate (an occasional meal out). But all gets logged, no matter…
  • I understand the feeling about looking in the mirror and thinking we still the same. But your photo proves it's not true. Just look at the same t shirt in both pics and how big it looks on you now. I've found this a helpful way for my brain to catch up with my lose. As it seems to work better than looking in a mirror. Well…
