This was me!! I would go to a fitness class and then get an enormous burrito on my way home. Any time I expended any energy I would reward myself with well over twice the calories I burned. edit: fixed bold tag

Spot reduction Toxins Negative calorie foods Gluten free (w/o diagnosis) Vegan/vegetarians are healthier (or the opposite "don't get enough protein and are malnourished") 64 oz water/day is required Juicing (as sole source of calories) Low carb Eliminate sugar Junk food Some of these work for some people (like low carb)…

^^ Yes. When I have my hair done the people who are most likely to notice are those that I know casually. Close friends/family are more focused on my personality than my appearance. The same with weight. If your close friend is actively denying your weight loss (i.e., saying "You definitely haven't lost weight! You look…

No calories are bad. It's too many calories that are bad! The carb/sugar stuff is nonsense. I eats loads of carbs and sugar (within my calorie allotment) and am doing fine. Nutritionally I'm a bit lacking but it hasn't affected weight loss. OP, I recommend a food scale. Extremely valuable for losing weight.

If you set up MFP with your current weight and goals then you will be provided the number of calories you can eat in a day with the deficit already included.

I'm really curious what your meal plan ends up being and how you stretch $30 to last a month! Please keep us posted. :)

Decorating tattoos is an awesome idea! I'd never heard of that but I love it. :)

I understand now. It doesn't mean a body type. The guy on the bus was being an ***hole.
-
Give me an example of this "Fruit Loop" body type. It sounds delicious.

And what's crazy is that the media does not represent the diversity of what people actually find attractive!

I'd check Meetup.com for fun activities and look into local clubs for things you're interested in. Running clubs, yoga classes, etc. Lots of opportunities to meet people with common interests that way. Good luck!

You all look great! Your confidence shines through in the after pictures too. Love them!

I've been lurking this thread but figured I'd share my thoughts. I've never had a lot to lose (maybe 25 lbs) but my body image has fluctuated over the years and I feel embarrassed to admit that some of the thoughtless comments ex-partners have made exacerbated it. I'm embarrassed because I feel I'm old enough that I should…

I've gotten the small boobs compliment too! It's so specific and makes me wonder about their reasons too. (FYI - when I receive a compliment I graciously accept it. I just wonder about it later.) Why can't they just say "I like your boobs"? In cases where they have a history of dating other smaller chested women I take it…

Check your weight entries to make sure you don't have a typo.

Maybe this is semantics. When I talk about habits I think about something we do instinctively. We don't think about it, it's something we just do. I'm not talking about behavior we're conscious of doing. When I go grocery shopping and put groceries away then some of my decisions are conscious and some are habits. Cheese…

Ah-ha! So all your wife needs to do is make sure the bottle won't fall out of the fridge. You could buy her one of these for her birthday and it would be a win-win:

I am greatly bothered by people throwing out other people's food. Unless it's an emergency where you arrive home to the smell of something putrid then leave it alone. (Literally rotting, to be clear. I'm not talking about a smell you personally don't like.)

You said "All I am saying is that it seems sad to me that if a small adjustment on the part of one person's behaviour or habit would have a positive impact on another person, that one would not do it." Let's use the example of putting donuts in a cupboard versus the counter. If I am interpreting that correctly you think…

I would hesitate to accept a FR from someone with no pic at all. I don't care if you grab a random picture of a cat off Google - I feel someone who has gone to the trouble of adding a pic (any pic) is more likely to be engaged and supportive as a MFP friend.

I drink my coffee black but I do have tea with milk (2%) and sugar. I just log the calories and move along.

I think it's fantastic. There's definitely a period where you have to work on integrating it into your routine but it gets a lot easier. And it is eye opening. Pasta and cheese were two areas where I always went overboard without realizing it.

You suggest that it's easier for someone to change a habit of leaving tempting food out than it is for someone to change a habit of (over)eating tempting food. That's where I take issue. Our habits get pretty ingrained and many of us have trouble changing them. It has nothing to do with not caring about the other person or…

I just don't like drinking milk. Has nothing to do with my diet.

Great ideas! Imagine a tuna salad sandwich made with anchovies, molasses and peppermint extract! Plus a tablespoon of salt. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. :D

I wish. This was over a decade ago and I was much less confrontational then. I watched the cake slide into the trash and all I could think to ask was why he threw it away. He said he didn't want his dad eating it because he had to lose weight. At the time he was in his 20s and very much a gym bro with all of the answers…

Ah, this sounds even more fun! For condiments in a savory sandwich: sugar icing, jam, marshmallow fluff. If you're industrious roll out marzipan really thin and replace the cheese. For PB&J mix into peanut butter: sweet pickle relish, yogurt, tuna, guacamole, etc. Everything can use a liberal dash of soy sauce. And of…

This reminds me of the time I made a delicious, rich, and very dense chocolate cake from scratch. Definitely not healthy as it was made with butter, heavy cream, etc., but it was for a large family dinner and everyone had tiny slices. Afterwards I watched in horror as my brother-in-law threw the remaining half of the cake…

If it's anxiety you might talk to a doctor. I can relate, particularly to the Sunday/Monday issue. (The dread of the impending week.) I would use all of the suggestions noted: ear plugs, eye mask (if comfortable), dark room, take at least an hour to read something calming (and a bit boring) before bed, maybe take a bath…

OP, you called it an overwhelming goal yourself. Please don't overwhelm yourself. Plan on losing the weight at a healthy rate. You'll be smaller by graduation and on your way to your GW and to a better lifestyle in general. I think that in itself is a cause for celebration.
