^What she said. The fat cells are getting smaller and less "springy" so they become all flappy. That's just a sign that you are doing things right. Also, we all have our problem areas with stubborn fat. There's just not a lot that you can do about that, but as you keep working those arms and start to put on some muscle…

Feel free to add me, it's always nice to have some extra outside motivation!

Hi, I'm a restarter as well, and could sure use a motivator as well. Feel free to add me. Although I am from Finland, I used to hop in and out of DFW for work some years ago..

+2. No need to wait, just go for it.

You can't avoid losing muscle as well, but a small enough calorie deficit coupled with enough protein and strength training will minimise the loss.

I have a Garmin Vivosmart. I swim a lot, especially in summer so waterproof is a must. That pretty much narrowed it down to the Polar Loop (which I had, but it broke) and the Vivosmart, which I got to replace the Polar. The device is nice, but the MFP integration is rather rough around the edges. Fortunately it seems to…

It's hard, if not impossible, especially when measuring your arms or legs. For my thighs, I usually just try to make a good guess, and if the measure is way different than last time, I'll redo it. For my arms, I just try to measure at the thickest point. Measuring the body is easier, I think. I just measure across my…

Did W6D1 today. As someone who run a bit like Usain Bolt before starting the program (that is, 100 meters OR 9,6 seconds...) it feels pretty good to have come this far. I'm hoping to do a 10K run next summer/fall. If I'm able to finish in under 60 mins, I'll be really happy, but mostly I'll just be happy if I'm able to…

The formula would contain all the necessary minerals and whatnots, so there's no need to have those present in the water. And as the tap water could potentially be contaminated, the doctors would obviously tell you to use a 100 % safe source instead. That has nothing to do whether or not one should drink pure distilled…

Yeah, shakes do leave you hungry, unfortunately. I usually take one as a post workout drink for recovery, or to supplement a meal that was otherwise low on protein. If you are looking for a more "portable" snack, then a protein bar is better than nothing as long as you keep track of your total calories. Beef jerky is good,…

Milk + oats + chocolate protein + peanut butter + banana. Throw in a blender and enjoy. You shouldn't have any problems getting anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories from one shake. And it's all really healthy, too.

Protein bars are really nothing but glorified candy. I'd try to stay away from them if at all possible. Protein shakes are ok, and an easy way to add some protein to your diet. Just get something that's at least around 80 % protein, otherwise you get a lot of fat and carbs with each shake as well. All lean meats are a good…

If you aren't weighing yourself, then at least do not set your goal on losing a specific amount of weight. Having a goal that you will never achieve (well, at least will never know if you have achieved or not) is a sure way to lose motivation.
