http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ I've been doing it for 5 weeks. There's a group on MFP for women who use Strong Lifts.

Squats 5x5 90 Bench Press 5x5 60 Barbell Row 5x5 60 I find it really difficult to build upper body strength. No big surprise I guess as I'm an extreme case of powerful legs/t-rex arms but it's frustrating.

Legumes are great for protein. If you get used to cooking them yourself you'll save a small fortune. Ditto recommendation of Joel Fuhrman. I also like Christina Pirello's cookbooks; My Crazy Vegan Life is my favorite. Btw, Pirello warns against relying on nutritional yeast for B12; she developed a dangerous deficiency. If…

Just started last week, using the 12-hour window. I fast until 12 or so, depending on whether I'm working out or not. I'm not used to working out fasted yet. My goal is to make it to 8/16. I've lost 3 lbs so far, which is great considering I haven't been all that strict about my eating otherwise. And caffeine definitely…

Whey protein isn't vegan btw. Another vote for Vega.

If you drink at home, substitute simple syrup made with Splenda for the stuff made with sugar or mix drinks with diet soda. Some bars and restaurants are beginning to get the hint and offer lower calorie cocktails. It is very easy to drink 300-400 calories if you're not careful. I've cut back from 6 drinks a week to 4 and…

Saw this piece in the Times and started keeping my intake to 12 hours, a very mild IF. I'm getting used to it; will eventually try for 8/16 . Too early in the process for results. http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/well/2015/01/15/a-12-hour-window-for-a-healthy-weight/

Good luck. I'm on an 80% vegan, about 40-50% raw diet. I find I still have to watch my calories but feel much better and look younger (unless I'm deluding myself) than I did five years ago when I started.

Wouldn't be for me either ;)

I suspect that's unusual. I suppose it's possible to binge eat or abuse anything. I personally am not capable of eating five apples in a row. If fruit is a problem for you, by all means limit it.
-
For many of us, sugary sweets can trigger binges. If that's not true for you, great. I also get really sleepy after eating anything really starchy or sugary so that's another disincentive. I have never been remotely tempted to binge on mangoes or bananas. If I could lose weight on pizza and bagels, trust me I would. I'm…

It's a decent amount. Not great--berries and apples are much better-- but I really doubt most of us have issues with bananas and mangos. I'm not going to sit down and binge eat bananas or mangos. Put me in front of a pile of cookies and all bets are off. I'm not assaulting your common sense. If you can lose weight without…

Eh. Mangos and bananas have a decent amount of fiber and really, does anyone get fat from fruit? For most of us this is a common sense thing: avoid or at least ration refined and processed foods, especially sugar. Almost every sensible diet plan out there, from lowish carb to Dean Ornish to WW limits sugary and starchy…

Amen. I refuse to worry about the sugar content in fruit. If don't have a medical issues like diabetes, don't waste your time. Added sugar is the issue along with refined carbs. So I'd second the suggestion to track carbs.

Did WW years ago, lost 100 lbs and have kept most of it off. But, like many of the other posters here, am finding that the unlimited fruit and vegetable thing is becoming a hindrance. So I'll probably drop them. The MFP database is much better as well; it's easy to find the restaurant foods I'm likely to eat on MFP whereas…

Mine is September but I'm telling myself I'm 50 already so I get used to the idea:) Want to get back down to 160ish from 188.
-
I think it depends on your own personal shape and genetic profile. If you don't already do strength training that might help a little. I don't think there's much else you can do short of plastic surgery

Lost a lot of weight 20 years ago. Have kept most of it off. The 20 lbs I've put actually looks better on my torso than the loose skin did. Of course, I'll look better in clothes and be healthier when I loose the weight.

I'm 5'8", currently at 187. I want to get back down to 160. I'm 49 and in peri-menopause which doesn't make it easy.

I'm 80% vegan. I will eat crustaceans from time to time but no dairy. I've never had a hard time getting enough protein. I use hemp seeds in my green smoothies and make sure I have some form of protein (tofu, seitan, tempeh, beans) with every meal. If you're a strict vegan you must take B 12 supplements but the protein…

I'm a WW member but I"m thinking of ditching it. I lost 100 lbs via WW years ago and have kept most of it off; I'm struggling with 20 lbs now but don't go to meetings. I got bored with the meetings and I've noticed there are fewer of them so it's harder to find one than it used to be. I've read that the competition from…

I don't think sugar is "toxic" but Americans eat way more of the refined stuff than they did 40 years ago and that can't be good. I find that ADDED sugar produces cravings. I can have just one cookie but it's a struggle so the less I eat the better. I try to save my sugar calories for alcohol. Not a good thing either but I…

I lost 100 lbs on WW years ago and kept most of it off. I regained 25 lbs, which I'm struggling with. I got bored with the meetings (and there are fewer of them here in NY now that WW is losing business to sites like MFP) so I may go online-only or just use MFP. One of the reasons I got bored is that I'm a vegan on a…
