  • Congrats! You'll reach your goal before you know it.
  • You might want to try either looking on bodybuilding.com for beginner programs, or try New Rules Of Lifting for Women.
  • If I keep shaking my head no at all the naïve posts, I'm going to end up with a concussion.

  • Off the top of my head for me... How to overcome those actions we take that we know are sabotaging us. How to find ways to focus on getting on track with tracking, moving, choices, etc.
  • Behaviors definitely, but really all of the above are helpful when submitted by those (like yourself) who actually do the research rather than just post the next great quick loss plan.
  • I love coffee with my creamer, so I'm having to limit myself to not drinking coffee. But when I do, I use the sugar free Coffee Mate French Vanilla. And when I'm completely throwing my caution to the wind, I use Almond Joy creamer.
  • I don't know, but my head hurts something awful.
  • What? Muscle and bone structure protects our organs. Fat just makes us fat. smh
  • It would be almost impossible for anyone to estimate the calories on the description. It depends on the size of the wrap, the amount of fillings, sauces, etc. What you might be able to do is find an equivalent wrap at a restaurant that has nutritional information and use that as a guide.
  • Look on bodybuilding.com for those exercises and they will give you either alternates or at-home versions you can do.
  • If your schedule works for you, you anticipate that you will be able to keep up with it for the long term, and you are seeing progress towards your goals, there is nothing wrong with it. We can sometimes get so much information that conflicts that we get overwhelmed with trying to figure out what will work or not work for…
  • Look on YouTube for kettlebell workouts. Or just google the same thing and see what you can find.
  • You can adjust the amount of calories recorded but still use the circuit training entry.
  • It looks like a good assortment of foods. The only thing I would say is to get a scale and weigh the food and measure the liquids. 1/2 c calories of something may actually be more than you realize when weighed. Your total calories could be off quite a bit because of not weighing. Just something to keep in mind if you find…

  • Put a calendar on your fridge, and every day you complete the workout, cross that day off. As you workout each day getting closer to your vacation, that may help keep you motivated to do the next day, and the next, etc. Once you are back from vacation, concentrate on your eating for your weight loss and just use walking…
  • You could do squats in place of the lunges until you can start some low level lunges. I hated lunges all along because they hurt my knees as well, but had to finally realize that just like with all exercise, I needed to start at the very beginning. When you do lunges, pay very close attention to your form instead of trying…
  • The trainers I worked with also had one-size-fits-all routines. When I talked to the last one about modifying the workout she had planned, she told me that her workouts were better than the ones I provided examples on. I got the workouts from bodybuilding.com that focused on my goals. When I asked her why, she said they…
  • Are there any sports they would be interested in? Baseball, soccer, etc.
  • Why not try a light workout? Do some cardio to warm up and then some light strength exercises. Possibly even just bodyweight exercises.
  • Lets see... strength training 3x a week, stretching/core (yoga) 2x and cardio 2x. That looks pretty comprehensive to me. If you feel like you want to do more, then the step or swim can be added. It depends on what you want and whether or not you think you can keep this schedule up for the long term. Doing what you enjoy…
  • Enjoy your vacation. Make the best choices you can, but enjoy yourself. Just be sure to get back at it when you get back home.

  • Are you talking about calories burned during ab exercises? If so, unless you are doing those exercises for long periods of time, then the amount burned wouldn't amount to much. Just record situps, etc. under strength training and don't worry about the amount of calories.

  • Yup, I was required to run when in the Marine Corps and hated every step of it. Only ran for the fitness tests twice a year. But about a year ago, I started jogging slowly and finally got to the speed where I considered it running. I actually enjoy it a lot more than I expected I would. I modified the C25k for what I felt…
  • Agree with malibu. If you did housework while reaching the point that you decided you need to lose weight, then counting the calories burned from housework now would not be accurate.
  • Pretty much what you said you are already doing, just nod and change the subject. It would probably be insulting to question her about her recent progress or make any kind of comments about her current weight. If she's insulting others by commenting on their eating, then it is up to that person to address it.
  • Go to www.bodybuilding.com They have programs that will tell you how many reps and sets of a particular exercise. There are different plans available, so just pick one that seems to be simple and get started. Once you start, you can then branch out to different exercises or plans.
  • I have access to an elliptical that I prefer to be on. But what I prefer may differ from what you feel comfortable on. For me, some models have my feet too far apart, or don't provide the amount of rotation that I am looking for. If you can, get a temporary gym membership and try out different makes and models. That will…
  • If you did it before, you can do it again. Just know that you are starting from scratch and give yourself time to get back to where you were before. Push yourself enough that you are sore, but not actually hurting. Be realistic with your starting weights and just get into that mindset where you are getting back your mojo.
  • Same here. I have another 30 days until my operation and then 4-6 weeks recovery. It even hurts just laying in bed at night, let alone doing anything. <sigh> Some day, I'll be back on track and able to do something.
  • If it was a surgery that may require physical therapy, then wait for your doctor to tell you to schedule that. If you push yourself after surgery, you risk delaying your recovery time. Let your body rest and have the necessary time to repair itself. Call your doctor's office and get an opinion on when it's safe to start…
