I use a muscle milk protein powder, 1% milk or almond milk, 1 cup frozen or fresh berries (depending on what i have in the house), and 1 or 1/2 a banana. I really like it and so does my toddler.

^^^ I will second this statement. Focus on eating at your calorie goal and exercising. As you move along you can start to substitute/eliminate certain foods. Clean eating is what you want it to mean. Keep running! As for your legs, make sure you warm up, and then cool down and stretch. Weight lifting while running can help strengthen your legs which could help with the soreness.

Lunges, body weight squats, and one legged deadlift with light weight to help strengthen your quads and hamstring too. That was the only thing that saved me.

Totally depends on the activity. For lifting i prefer heavy metal and hard rock, bands like Metallica, Sevendust, Seether, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin and Audioslave. When I run, I like a varitey of music, anything with a good beat works.

I cant really add anything else of value. You should try to push yourself farther. Maybe looking into a training program of somekind that will push you week to week to add in longer and longer distances, and some intervals for speed work. Changing up a routine can be great for you.
