You can do this without a HRM, just push harder, walk faster until you feel your heart rate increase, then keep that up for as long as you can. Walking is good, but you need to get your HR up to really see results. The other ideas about zumba and other classes are a great idea too.

One month with no change in weight is interesting. I would recoment keeping with the exercise program, and log every single crumb of food that goes into your mouth. That is waht worked for me. Also make sure you are drinking lots of water.

^^^^This! Your problem is not your weight, but your self image and sense of self worth. If you never take these issues head on, you will never be happy in your own skin. Best of luck.
