Remember though, that half of the people that had a high cholesterol had normal cholesterol levels. Cholesterol has NEVER been shown to cause heart disease. the new thinking is that it is an inflammatory process cause by insulin resisitance.
-
yes. See this http://www.yourmedicaldetective.com/public/523.cfm talks about the cholesterol/triglyceride ratio
-
Tim Noakes suggests stretching before bed to help with the muscle cramps.
-
It's the triglycerides that matter. The gold standard for heart attack risk is the coronary artery calcium score. It is a CT scan of the heart.

Hi. For weight loss, some have to go to 25 grams carbs/day. Welcome.
-
Thanks
-
I suggest that you take your measurements. After my initial water weight loss, the scale reading did not change for a month. Lost 7 inches, though.
-
soups, stews (LCHF of course), oxtails
-
I would put the kids on a lower carb diet for their health.
-
Many athletes are overweight, especially when older. The new theory is that overweight/obesity is hormonal--based upon insulin and carbohydrate.

thanks

I share when people ask. I have researched the LCHF lifestyle quite a bit by watching youtube videos, listening to podcasts, and reading. I fell pretty well prepared if someone questions me as I have the science. If they don't get it, then I shrug it off. They have as much right to their way of eating as I do. No biggy.…

There was recently a husband -wife team that rowed from California to Hawaii on a low carb diet. It was in Cereal Killers 2, a documentary. Amazing feat. Tim Noakes has done many studies on the low carb athlete.

Hezrene, 3 pounds in how many weeks? Take your measurements. I did not lose any weight the first month, but lost inches overall. Remember, inch loss id the true indicator of fat loss, not scale weight. Also, I have to watch my calories and portion sizes and watch dairy intake. HTH

The best thing is to have your doc measure your fasting insulin.
-
I have the book and am going through it.
-
magnesium can be helpful. I have 2 TBSP of chia seeds/ground daily.

Talk to his dad and tell him that yu are concerned for your son's health. Get dad on board. too.
-
I would not buy things with sugar, soft drinks, sports drinks, white flour products. Everyone should eat the same foods. Low carb High fat will be fine for him, too. He should eat what you eat. I assume you are LCHF.
-
splenda is notorious for causing loose stools. Watch out for the sugar alcohols, too. I would back off of the Splenda.
-
what kind of sweetener are you using--that may be the problem.
-
what is your fasting insulin level? Watch Dr. Sarah Hallberg on youtube. Great TED talk on how she manages her patients with insulin resistance and diabetes. How many carbs are you eating/day? You have to find your sweet spot for carb level.
-
Good job, MG. Glad that you are tuning in to your body's signals.
-
yes, it is the habit that counts
-
Keri I have to watch the calories. For me, it's carb count first, then calories--then play with the fat grams. YMMV.
-
He has great youtube videos. Thanks
-
Hope you get to feeling better mg.

My primary one is, "I don't want to die fat". My ARCs are a living document. I add to them. Another one of my favorites is "I am a person who is willing to work hard to achieve my weight loss and fitness goals.".
