I'm 232.4 lbs, 6'1, 46 years old and next to no exercise, but trying to build up by getting walking again. ( back problems )

I wish there was a like button. You would get one. lol My cals are set to 2000, which I set myself as I thought thats what men should have. TBH, when people mention Macros, my mind blows. I will have to learn about that. Dieting seems a lot more complex that some people ( not you guys, but slimming clubs etc ) make it out…

Thats fantastic. Thank you to you all. Thats made it a lot easier to understand. The way I see it, for myself, just going off this week alone, I have been working at a deficit every day BUT I have not had the exercise to go with it, for medical reasons, which I am trying to build up. On that note, as I am nearly always on…

Thanks SuggaD. At work I have a sit / stand hydraulic desk plus a wireless headset, so can move about a bit at my desk area. I think I would rather lose some weight then start getting fitter. Obviously try and keep up my walking when I can. Im very impressed with your running especially with DDD. I think the main problem…

jgnatca, thanks for that. The image may well help.

This is the sort of thing where I need to learn about food, carbs, etcs. I would need to learn up on it. what foods have what in it.

I actually have a nutribullet I keep meaning to use. I was using it, then it got put in the cupboard and forgot about. One thing I need to do is increase fibre. Because of the back pain I'm in, I am on strong painkillers, and one of their side effects is blocking you up. I suppose, nutribullet drinks could help with that…

Thanks so much for that insite GaleHawkins. I will certainly check it out. The problem I find with foods is when people say eat things high in this or low in that, I have no idea what to go for. I don't really want to wander round the supermarket reading labels all day. I could imagine it will be difficult to learn about.

FR sent. I cant totally relate to the getting the stair and out of the chair thing. I even needed help going to the loo, which is embarrassing.

Thats an interesting post. Thanks for the info. What difference does increasing the protein and veg make compared to a full blown diet?

Thats 25 stone. It would be ok if it was just weight, but he has advised against normal swimming already, so I reckon water zumba will be totally off the cards. Thanks for taking the time to comment though. Nice thought. I might ask him again once Ive shed loads of weight

Totally amazing. An inspiration to us all.

What sort of foods do you suggest?

Don't be too hard on yourself. Last year was awful for me. It just topped off a bad few years for me on a personal level. You have to be patient with yourself and not punish yourself too much. As my mind is starting to clear up a bit now, I can see that thats what I did to myself. I now have flicked a mental switch and now…

I love chocolate at night. Something sweet. What I did last night, was just core 2 apples. I use a thing that cores and cuts into segments at the same time. Had that, and a banana, and for the mischievous side of me ( not healthy ) was 3 bread sticks from the local supermarket. I checked first for the nutrition, and I was…

Thats an amazing story. I too cannot take part in activities with my daughter but in my case its due to a back problem. I'm on constant pain killers. I have in the last couple of weeks decided enough is enough. I have dug my fitbit out, even bought fitbit scales, and logged every single thing that passes my lips, on MFP.…
