  • Psych101 - OMG. You were my size. At my age, I don't think I can or need to get down to 165; but if I did, not sure I would ever look like your picture! That's amazing. I have lost 22 pounds since December, so have a way to go. You are a definite inspiration, as is everyone who posted their photos here.
  • I'm 5'9" so I'll be watching. Like the photos I've seen and am impressed.
  • You need more fat and protein. Or you need more oatmeal. If I eat the listed serving size, I get hungry, too. But eating a double serving seems to do the trick. Plus I eat a banana or other fruit. Eating a double portion of oatmeal will even allow me to go five or six hours without eating. And I then eat a small lunch, an…
  • 30! Shoot, I would settle for 50! And we all have different lives and different goals. But I am a bit jealous of you needing to lose only 14 pounds. I have 90 to lose! I started off needing to lose 20. Gained that back and 10 more. Now all the way up to 90 pounds overweight. So my suggestion to you - for what it is worth -…
  • Thanks everyone for all your encouragement. Just now actually learning how to use this site even though I've been logging in with food and exercise for six weeks now. Had not seen these replies before! This is absolutely great to get so very much encouragement from people who have been there! And since I'm so late in…
  • A registered dietitian/nutritionist at the bariatric surgery doc's office is who told me about MFP. I decided not to do the surgery after the three visits to her which were required for the surgery. I was already on the fence about it; but with her expertise and counseling and the thick brochure of what I would have to do…
  • I don't know how you completely give up sugar without giving up almost everything except protein and some vegetables. I try to limit it, but have not completely cut it out. As someone said above, sugar is good - well, not spoonfuls on its own, but in baked goods like cake and pie and such. And I still eat some of that now…
  • Looks like you have friends to motivate you now! Add me! I plan on being down by 30 lbs in March. Been working on this since December 10 and am down by 11 lbs now in just over a month. So let's get there!
  • It's so hard for people to be positive about your weight loss. They are jealous or insecure. The ones who say they lost 50 pounds doing thus and such and gained it all back sometimes say stupid stuff like, "Well, enjoy it now. It will all come back." Nothing you can say. And by the way - GOOD FOR YOU! :)
  • I haven't posted anything since I think I first introduced myself. But I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy this seems to be. I started almost a month ago and so far have lost 7 pounds. And that's making it through Christmas and what seemed to be days nonstop eating! Today I'm actually under in calories and am…
  • Thanks! I didn't think it would help to share! Don't like to share. Glad I did! You have encouraged me today.
