I guess I'm imagining people using them as a guide for how much they should be eating. The blog gave the example that ice cream will now say the serving size is 2/3 cup instead of 1/2 cup. It's not a huge difference, I know, but it did seem problematic upon first reading. I see y'all's points too though.

Whichever you want to have more energy for comes first. My focus is lifting, so I do that first. If cardio were my focus, I'd do that first.

Weight lifting or other strength training will help you reduce your body fat and maintain (possibly even gain) muscle. In my opinion, this has a greater effect on appearance than losing weight alone. As has been said though, you can't choose where you lose your weight. I'm surprised no one has pointed you to this thread…

I'm a vegetarian who relies heavily on dairy for my protein, so yeah, I eat a lot of the same things on a daily basis. I might be able to get creative and come up with other ways to get my protein, but I'm not tired of it. So yeah, I suppose it helps me because I can hit my goals without a lot of fussing or planning. I…

I mean, I use 1% milk in my protein shakes now instead of 2%.. not very exciting, but it tastes the same and cuts out a few calories that I can use for solid food!

I'm sorry, but this is all I could think of when I read your post! I know it doesn't help, but, well.. laughter is always good, right :) Ok, it didn't cue up right, but at 45 seconds in, you'll see.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCkJJeYOcLI&t=0m45s

I like the message that one can be happy without conforming to society's standards. I also like the message that being thin doesn't equate to being happy or healthy. I wish she would have at least mentioned that her experience of getting and staying thin is not necessarily the typical experience. I wish she would have…

So it's only in the last few months that I really started working on my deadlift form, and go figure, I'd find myself in a gym with hex plates only :/ Today I made my way to another gym where I found circular plates, so I got in my first smooth sets of five since I've been getting the form down! I was feeling so good that…

Choose things that are relatively bland and/or things you like even if they're not the most nutritious choices. Then, when you're eating, force yourself to actively think something like, "this is nourishing my body," or "this is giving me energy." Sounds cheesy, but it's worth a try. It's helped me a bit when I've…

Log and log and log! I find my memory and how I feel I've been doing.. well, it's just not very accurate. Logging shows me how I've really been doing. So log for a while and adjust if necessary!

This is what I was going to say.. I don't think I get hungrier on off days. I just have more time on my hands and think about eating more, which makes me want to eat more. Staying busy helps.

I'd just like to say that MFP doesn't necessarily always get it right. I'm set for maintenance, and even averaging more days over that (like, significantly over) than at or under it, I've slowly lost weight over a year. It's possible I've underestimated my activity level or my calories burnt through lifting, but it's also…

I find this so satisfying.. not in a hunger sort of way, just the crunch and the coldness and the liquid.. I hear it's not very good for your teeth though.

I used to love that. Except, well, rest days..

Thanks guys!!

Ok thanks, I was hoping there was something other than practice. I shoulda known better..

Just remember if you start burning extra calories with cardio you'll have to eat even more to gain. Something to think about..

I used to back when my life was full of disordered eating. I lacked appetite because of my attitude toward food and weight loss. Sounds crazy, but it was real. Not saying that's you.. just throwing it out there because I think attitude can manifest itself physically.
-
I have MFP set to maintenance. I eat every single exercise calorie back, and I'm consistently, albeit very slowly, losing weight.
-
Barring a medical reason, there's no reason to go low carb. I know some people love it, but you seem to love carbs so much. It seems silly to keep trying to keep up a diet that leaves you feeling ashamed and defeated.

Maybe you're being too strict during the day. The key is to find a way of eating that doesn't feel so restrictive. Obviously you have to restrict the number of calories you eat to lose weight, but try to include foods you love! I'm also a big proponent of eating at maintenance when you feel like giving up. Maybe try a…

I'm only an inch taller than you, and I started around the same weight. It took me a year to lose twelve pounds, but I've been able to eat 2000 calories a day (more when I workout)! I've lost weight way faster in the past, but this is the only time I've ever done something sustainable. Plus I've lost fat and gained muscle…

I think it's so impressive that you're holding down a job! Have y'all considered couples counseling?
