I'm on an overnight oats kick the past few months. We started using steel cut oats and fell in live with the texture. I prep my jars for the week using 1/4 cup steel cut oats, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1 tsp honey and about 50 grams (1/2 cup) of fruit. We've been partial to mango lately! The night before , I add 1/2 cup of…

I buy my meats from local farms. While it's not a CSA, I hooked up with some great small farms at our local farmer's market. I have a relationship with them now after several years, have visited the farms and love the freshness and quality of the meat and humane treatment of the livestock. Pasture raised, hormone free. I…

Love the concept of paleo, but felt it was too restrictive for me personally. I would struggle with the no dairy or legumes part of the plan. I do find myself using some paleo recipes though.

I found sticking with a few tried and true basics at first really helped us to stay on track. For example, breakfast consists of overnight oatmeal. I make a basic recipe with 1/4 cup steel cut oats, 1/4 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 cup almond milk, about a tsp of local honey. I heat and add pre measured fruit in the morning.…

Hi Stephanie, My name is Robin. I'm 46 years old and started dabbling in clean eating about 4 years ago. Hubby and I became more seriously committed to a cleaner eating lifestyle in January of 2015. We've tried many diets over the years-always gained the weight back and always felt hungry dieting! Deciding on a healthier,…

Welcome Angelia! I think you'll find the folks on the Eating Clean forum friendly and supportive. I've been here since January.

Hey Michelle, I do the same as you. Half n half with turbinado sugar in the raw. I drink 3 to 4 cups a day( down by about 1/2)and it adds up, but at least I know where my sugar comes from. I've learned to accept that I can't drink it black. I prefer not to use any artificial sweeteners and I'm still uncertain about Stevia..

I have to agree. Love me some soup. And homemade stock from scratch is a must. My all time favorites are cream of anything, but since I'm counting calories, I cleaned up a chicken, white bean and kale recipe. Delish!

We started at 40 carbs/30 protein/30 fat and found we were always over in carbs ( fruits and veggies mostly) low in protein. We've since adjusted to 45/25/30, feeling satisfied and still losing:)

There is definitely a different mindset between those who are those who dieting versus those looking for long term, sustainable lifestyle change. In regards to organic/ traditional farming methods, I would rather not ingest a plethora of pesticides, but understand there is no structural difference in these foods. I believe…

My cousin did the 21 day fix and loved it. I'm not a big detox fan though. I have cut way back on sugar. Basically use local honey as a natural sweetener and organic sugar (1 tsp in my coffee only). Really focused on selecting whole foods, locally grown and organic when possible and budget allows. Limited processed foods.…

I try to plan my menu around the items on sale each week and what's in season locally. We generally by our meats from direct sources here in NC. I deal directly with the farmers for our beef and pork. Hoping to have a regular chicken source this fall. We seem to have fallen back on a few favorite cook once, eat twice…

Yes! Love my garden. Our season here in NC has been delayed due to the cold and ice, but I have plans to get some seeds in the ground this weekend. Recently started researching companion planting. Spinach, lettuces, potatoes, onions, broccoli, celery seem to do well in early spring here. Later I'll get my summer veggies…

Welcome!! Sounds like you're making great progress. I've found the Clean Eating forum to be a great source of information and support. I, too, love to cook and grew up with some excellent food cooked in mom and grandmom's kitchen. Over the past 3 months, hubby and I have moved back to the basics. We are eating whole, fresh…

I guess I'll need to invest in a good food processor. I have a blender and food chopper, but doubt either will handle the task.

Same here Open diary, looking for mostly clean eaters. I log in regularly and cook most of my own food.

Recently started to add a 1/2 to 1 tsp of dark chocolate cocoa powder to my overnight oats about once a week. Finding g it helps to satisfy my chocolate cravings. It tastes great with cherries or banana.

Thanks, Ryan. I'll check the local market. Bought some Barney Butter, which is non gmo, but not organic.

Unfortunately, I dont think my blender could handle making nut butter.

I check the sale flyers the night before a new week begins (our local stores start sales on Wed. so Tuesday night I'm scouring the ads to see what's on sale. I then build my menu accordingly. I will typically have some form of poultry 4 nights a week, beef or pork 1x, fish or shellfish 1x and a meatless night. I've also…

There are tons out there. I've found a lot on Pinterest. Start with foods you enjoy and search for clean versions.

Hey there, I discovered a delish, low calorie recipe for honey sriracha Cashew Chicken that uses cabbage as a base. Very satisfying meal, especially for low calorie diets. We pass on the cashews. I plan to try it with shrimp next time. http://www.healthyseasonalrecipes.com/honey-sriracha-chicken-cashew-stir-fry/ Robin:)

Love that you're thinking ahead. I work in the travel industry and have cruised many times. Your ship should have a great gym, plenty of exercise opportunities and a variety of healthy food options! Lots of fresh fruit and veggies, omelet stations in the morning. The buffets typically offer more variety, but dining room…

Hey Holly, so glad you posted this. Having similar problem. I struggle with regular bm anyway due to intestinal surgery a few years back, but since starting our diet it has been more problematic. I think the issue is fiber and water intake for me. Started looking more closely at daily fiber intake. I take a water soluble…

I've noticed when my calories are set at 1200 per day, I tend to go over in my carbs/ sugars very easily. Recently bumped up to 1500 calories daily and don't seem to have the problem as often.

I've been making a Quinoa "fried rice" with my stirfry dishes. Precook the quinoa ( I use homemade chicken stock instead of water). Sauté a bunch of fresh veggies with a small amount of olive oil: carrots, onions, broccoli, celery or bok choy...whatever I have on hand really. Add quinoa, a dash of soy sauce and mix.…

Thought of you SammyGold12 while heating up leftover White bean & kale chicken soup . Found a basic recipe on line and tweaked it. http://instagram.com/p/yqHGrDtl7o/

I guess it depends on an individual's definition of clean eating. I am a big coffee drinker, have cut way back and switched to an organic blend to avoid all the chemicals. I do use 1 tsp organic sugar and organic 1/2 & 1/2 (sugar is technically not clean). This is a huge improvement for me, so I'm choosing my battles right…
