I think we have similar stats, I'm 176cm tall - but I am still a few lbs above Onederland! I started using weights machines at the gym about 6 weeks ago (my trainer will show me free weights when I restructure my program in a few weeks, I have been pretty unfit and have lower back issues). What I CAN tell you is this: I…

I recently encountered a hoarder - she had a couple of sets of dumbells of varying weights all set out with her towel, water bottle and various crap. She had set up camp at one of the benches. Just use what you're using, and walk the 2 feet to put them back before you use the next one, it's not tricky. We don't have a big…

This is a wonderful thread. I am new to weights, and have a lower back issue so I am currently using machines and dumbells with some ab/core work. Once I build up my strength a bit, my trainer will get me into free weights. I've been following the total body program the trainer at my gym put together for only 6 weeks, and…

More energy, better health, and being able to buy cheaper clothes! I can never get anything on a clearance rack because I'm the most common size at the moment ( AUS 16). Next size down I'm always seeing cheap underwear - and if I can pay $7 for a bra that's normally $30, I will take that every time. Not feeling so self…

I can't imagine that ever working for me personally. Back when I used to smoke, I would just melt onto the nearest horizontal surface and not move unless nature called or needed food. Flatmate used to clean and get things done when she smoked, it was completely odd to me. We would sometimes go for walks, but it was usually…

My toddlers don't like the look of my food sometimes - eg tuna mashed with cottage cheese looks NASTY. And it smells too strong for the to be keen on trying it. But when I make my favourite apple pie oatmeal and they start eyeballing it, they only get a tiny bit... then they are told to go eat their own tasty, calorie…

I held a plank for 45 seconds, and jogged on a treadmill for 25 minutes! Not all on the same day, I'm not Superwoman.

As a mother of 2.5 year old twins (non identical girls) I totally understand how big a battle it can be. :-) Good for you! I am 17kg from my goal and seeing your pics is a great motivator.

I'm in Australia and I grew up on PB. On crackers, bread, celery... it's cheap and tasty. I cheerfully feed it to my twin toddlers, and sometimes they just eat a glob of it off a spoon.

I have a lot of cool, fitted style girly tees that I don't fit anymore - I want to wear them again and not feel so frumpy. My favourite concert t shirts, funny or cute tshirts that reflect my interests and personality not just whatever baggy shirt fits me. I have spent many a year being overweight and uncomfortable, but…

I'm into week 7 of the Couch to 5k, but am doing it on treadmill to lessen the impact on my joints (bad back). Previous to starting this I did 1 min jog, 1 min walk but was very sporadic. When I follow a program I tend to push myself further because when I 'listen' to my body, im done in 10 minutes. I keep my pace slow,…

I have 2.5 yo twins, and recently they both had headcolds and coughs for weeks on end. If one wasn't sick, the other was.My husband suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis with a twist of Thyroid issues.. he doesn't sleep well and often his disruptive nights affect me. I've only regularly been…

I used to keep mini chocolate bars in the freezer - mars, snickers, etc all about 85cal. I would have one every night... then I started having 2 every night. Then there were times that I had 4 and completely lost my grip on portion control, so I removed them from the equation for now. So i replaced them with cheapo sweet…

Yes, as a mother of almost 3 year old twins, I agree. It's only now that they are getting more independent and I have found a way to prioritize my/our family's health. About 3 weeks after the girls were born, I was still carrying roughly 10kg above my pre-pregnancy weight. The mind-bending fatigue that comes with small…

I have no suggestions, but I think I understand your issue. I get all boney around the sternum and you see ribcage bumps under my collarbone and down to my breasts. Yet my lower half is very overweight and squishy. Perhaps it is just genetics? Are you tall and solid\broad built? I am.

That's bloody awesome. Well done!
-
Very good. I think the first few weeks of gains instead of losses really threw me. I appreciate your feedback!

That's awesome. I do weights 3 x week and cardio 2-3 times a week - One day a week my husband watches our toddlers and I have a longer session at the gym. The other days I am restricted to the hour or so between when I wake up and when the kids get up... basically I roll out of bed and go to the gym, come home have a cup…

Thanks for taking the time to nut this out a bit. I know BMI can be a bit sketchy but I am aiming for the top end of the healthy range for my height. As I say, I think I look a bit weirdly proportioned once I hit anything below 74kg - but I have never done any kind of strengthening/weight training before so I may well be…

5'10" here, CW approx 217lb...lurking. :-)

Thanks again for more contributions, it's very much appreciated. I am eating at a deficit but I do eat some of the exercise cals back if it's a very busy day. I suppose I am more used to focusing on the scales, the 'number' I am aiming for - and following what I know was a good weight for me previously. BUT I have never…

Thank you, it's very reassuring feedback. I'm making sure I take a progress shot every few weeks to help me get my head around it. Some clothes are getting looser, for sure. This week I lost 2lb, increased some weights in my workout and survived the 20 min run in Couch to 5k - it's a blazing success!

Mine is .3 of a serve of Country Cheese flavoured biscuits/crackers. A serve is 3 biscuits according to the packet, and I ate ONE biscuit.

I posted a similar query recently, but have a lot more to lose. Good to know that I'm not the only confused one!

Most days it's oats: 50g quick oats nuked in water, then add a tub of apple puree, sprinkle of cinnamon and vanilla extract. Sometimes I add some fake sugar. Sometimes It's oats with frozen blueberries, vanilla and a little bit of full cream milk. OR I add a tablespoon of cocoa powder with vanilla, fake sugar and a splash…

Another aussie here, who is horried to see my weight in lbs instead of kgs... but totally agree that pounds lost look far more awesome than kg lost! :D
-
I'm 5'10" and aiming for about 175lb. I know what I look like at that weight, and know that I'm still a bit squishy with weird spindly arms. So this time around I am doing weight training with my cardio and 175-180 will likely be a stronger, fitter version of my squishy lighter self.

W5D3 of C25K!

I finished week 5 in C25K. I did the 20 min run! On the treadmill with NO MUSIC as my player pooped itself just as I started... great timing! I thought it would be harder since I had 3 days of no exercise (road trip woot woot!) but I think taking an extra day off really helped me be rested enough not to feel too tired to…

My husband and Mother know. My kids are toddlers, but they know I go to the gym to get stronger - because my husband tells them so when they get out of bed and ask where I am! I decided to do this, I shop and prepare everyone's meals so they are along for the ride at times. My husband doesn't calorie count but weighs…
