It took me till I was in my 30s to find a sport I liked for a lot of those same reasons. I used to live in Austin Texas, where I was able to join a rowing club and get on the water with other adult beginners. It was awesome - you sit in a straight line in a boat, so there's no chit chat during the workout. There's a…

I might work my way up to clean eating, but small changes stick better with me. And while I know it's possible to eat well while traveling, I'm not real motivated to try that hard when doing so leaves me hungry or strapped for time. There are also days where eating half a pizza is a totally reasonable response to life. As…

Split squats! One leg RDL! They are both destroying my ego right now, which means it will just come back bigger and stronger, right??
-
I did the one-legged Romanian deadlift today. This is exactly what I need! I am not falling over, but I'm not far away from it. This is going to be a great challenge.

Last night, I took a 5mg dose because I knew I had plenty of time to oversleep this morning if I needed to. So 11.5 hours later my husband is shaking me awake to let me know that my phone was ringing....my project manager calling to move our meeting up. ;) I might try a 3mg dose at some point, but I have to wait until I…

I pace during meetings and use the Pomodoro technique as well - breaks are either situps, pushups, or walking the stairs at my house.

Sometimes I have a hard time being aggressive on my own behalf, but I can do it for others. If that's you, it pays to remember that you are probably not the only one feeling uncomfortable. Your complaint may be the one that finally gets management to act. Or it might be the one that validates it when sometime else comes up…

I love melatonin for beating jet lag, but only if I have 10-12 hours to sleep. So, red eye to the EU, stay up till 6-7 pm, then sleep till 6 am the next day. It's brilliant for resetting my internal clock. I end up sleeping so long though that it doesn't work in everyday life. Of course, on my last trip, I found out it's a…

Might be worth finding a sports massage therapist. Body work has a while helluva lot of fitness benefits and they might notice something different or helpful. At the very least, they might be able to recommend a medical fitness trainer who can give you a personal evaluation.

One legged Romanian deadlifts are my NEMESIS. Although, after today, I think they are joining split squats. Is the plural nemeses? Nemesises? Nemesai? Apparently grammer is also my nemesis. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Thank you so much for all the info! I know we're all told to follow (B) as a sustainable option, but I'm glad to see the variety of approaches. I know a variant of B is working better for me. Sometimes I find myself wanting to join a big group of people who are chastising people who try (A), but I know that what works for…

I think I found you Catherine....if not, then someone else with your name has a plastic bag as a profile pic. lol

I love the Wendler 5-3-1 program. If you start to get into the big lifts and love it but want a different set up, it's one of my favs. I use the Boring But Big set up on a 4-day split and have noticed changes in my strength pretty quickly. The book is also a good way to start to learn about the value of these big compound…

It took a little while for me to figure out, but it's not a complicated process. I'd recommend googling "MFP sync with UP" and see what comes up!

It's too much for me and not enough for my best friend. :) just remember not to beat yourself up if you find out it's more than you want right now. I build up slowly, but other people need to jump right in. Treat it as an experiment and see how you feel.

Sorry I can't help directly with your question, but this article caught my eye a few days ago. This is the first place I'd seen an actual reason why loose skin can actually cause plateaus or weight loss difficulties. The CNN article links to a published journal article that might help you decide if you can find a copy.…

Current mini goal is to make daily workouts and meeting my water goals actual habits, rather something that requires a ton of willpower. I'm getting there, but not QUITE at the point of really prioritizing my workouts over other stuff yet.

There's a ton of Rebecca Williamsons...what type of profile pic did you use?

Anyone in LoDo looking for someone to walk (or run really slowly) at Commons Park or on the Cherry Creek trail, send me a PM. Or friend me. Or both.

Hey Bridget - tried to find you on UP but there are quite a few with that name. If you want to friend on UP, feel free to look me up under Beth Brakewood
-
Hi - look for Beth Brakewood, same profile pic. I need some Up friends!!

Got an up3 in hopes it would work with my Smart Home. Loving the sleep data, the step tracking and the reminders to move....But still not sure how to make it work with SmartThings

Bump - Just in case anyone has an answer on this...

Dear God, I forgot about beer. Clearly I need to add that as number 3. I live in craft brew country, and I do not compromise with generic light crap. (I do like a lighter type of beer in the summer - but that means a Kolsch, not something with "lite" on the label.)

Parsnip-Lee Soup with Lump Krab: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Parsnip-Leek-Soup-with-Lump-Crab-368312 Last night was Chinese take-out: Moo Goo Gai Pan and a small measured out portion of fried rice. It was soooooooo good.

I can think of nicer ways to say this, but I don't see the point in saying this stuff nicely. Also, I'm a sucker for anyone who can use the f-word that much. :)

OMG. YES. THIS STATEMENT.

Why not just eat meat every night?

LOL - I live in a 1200 sq ft apartment and it's one of the largest in our building. But I understand what you mean; I couldn't possibly have a treadmill in here. My eqpt suggestion: I have a bar for pull ups that I hang in the doorway. I also use a yoga mat for yoga (can be cardio, strength, and flexibility depending on…

I was the worst person in my group lesson. Like, truly truly awful. I did two days of lessons, then rode down a couple very simple greens with my husband the next day. I wouldn't say I fell in love with it, but I had one of those lovely ah-ha moments on day 3 and it felt amazing. The next year, I learned to snowboard. And…
