  • Have you sought out help or professional advice with your relationship with food? I've seen a number of what come across as quite panicky threads you've started. Speaking with someone might help to come to grips with the issues and anxieties you seem to have in regards to eating. G'luck
  • You need to do this. Support is great but it should be a 'nice to have' not a 'must have'. A great saying I heard the other day: "You're the artist of your life. Don't give the paintbrush to anyone else;" Take control, own it and don't let your success be determined by or reliant on anyone else.
  • By 'help with insensitive' do you mean give blunt feedback without the sugar coating?

  • The only 'habit' I changed was how much attention I paid to the amount of food I ate. As in previously I paid no attention to how much I ate and just ate completely mindlessly and with no control. Now I'm in the habit of paying attention. That's pretty much it.
  • I'm WAY less clumsy and awkward. I guess it came from living in an oversized, unwieldy body but prior to losing weight I was noticeably more clumsy and accident prone. It felt like I was constantly knocking stuff over and bumping into things particularly in tight areas. It also feels like I don't seem to hurt myself as…
  • There's really nothing inherently 'unhealthy' about KFC. The coating and frying method of cooking make it slightly higher in calorie content than say 'baking' or 'grilling' but chicken is still chicken. You just can't eat quite as much of it when it's prepared that way. Foods like KFC (and other "junk" or "fast" food) tend…
  • Because WW is a business who makes money by selling you products. By telling you that you need to hit your points target every day you're more likely to buy their overpriced 'snacks' that they have on display at every meeting. Also if you create a large (but healthy and sustainable) deficit you'll lose weight too quickly…
  • If he feels that is too much food to eat at his weight/height he can probably safely set the rate of loss to 2lb per week.
  • Back when I was boxing the sick rule was pretty straight forward: If it's contagious - training NOT allowed If it's below the neck (chest, joints, etc) - training NOT allowed If it's above the neck (throat, sinus, head, etc) training IS allowed Note that training is allowed, not required. If you don't want to train because…
  • It's a personal thing really. I get the impression that most people here tend to go the daily weigh with a trending app route but I understand that's a bit of a risk factor for some people who might get a bit number fixated. Obviously weighing in isn't required to lose weight, if you're eating in a deficit your then you'll…
  • Like others have said. Activity level is your normal day to day life outside of dedicated workouts. That said after a year of using the app I've grown less and less confident in the activity algorithm so tend to take the calories added with a grain of salt (unless my sodium is too high <haw haw>). Your best bet is to use…
  • I've never understood the logic behind the idea of starvation mode. The idea that you're not eating enough calories to sustain yourself so you start storing energy instead of using it to sustain yourself makes absolutely zero sense. It's like walking into work to find out that your hours have been cut and you'll be earning…
  • I eat. Usually chocolate or some kind of sweet. Every night. So I make sure I have enough calories that I can do this. It's about making your plan fit your life rather than trying to mould your life around a plan.
  • The feeling awkward / self-conscious when joining a gym thing is pretty common and a frequent topic here so you're definitely not alone. The thing that might help is to remember that you're really not that interesting =). In all seriousness everyone there is so focused on themselves. They all have their own goals, missions…
  • It doesn't matter. Your body doesn't have a clock. It doesn't click over at midnight and it doesn't know which arbitrary category you logged your food in.
  • I disagree. Baked Tenders Honey Mustard Twister - 403cal Reg coleslaw - 120cals Pepsi Max/Water - negligible/0 cals Total - 523 cals Even moving away from the baked chicken to the usual fried chicken you have Original Recipe Twister which is 137 cals more so a KFC 'fried' meal for 660 cals which I'm sure you can fit into…
  • Definitely try daily weigh ins and using a trending app. It will reveal what's really happening rather than just points in time. It also shows how weight fluctuations can mask progress. This is a weight loss graph showing weekly weigh ins Weight is measured on 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd and all showed a weight of 150.…
  • What do you mean starts to go down again. The red line is the trend and it is only going down. You ignore the data points (blue line) and pay attention to the progress (red line).
  • Protein shakes aren't magic. They don't do anything special except provide you with protein and calories.
  • This is what those figures look like graphed with a trendline How do you feel about it now?
  • As long as the Biggest Loser competition isn't official or mandatory then I don't see it as too big of a problem. Also as long as it's all done in fun, not taken seriously and people understand that the 'winner' isn't necessarily, really the most successful at losing fat. I demonstrated this when I they did one of these…
  • Not at all. I'm stoked for them! Weight management isn't a zero sum game. Their success in no way impacts, diminishes or takes anything away from me so why wouldn't I want to see and take pleasure in a fellow human being's success and happiness.
  • Was it emotional eating or have you perhaps restricted your food choices and/or calorie in take in a way that is unsustainable and you've had a 'bounce binge'? If you cut your calories too severely eventually you're going to crack and when you do you'll likely end up consuming more calories than you would if you'd…
  • Put it in perspective. Have a dinner that is approx 473 calories and relax. This meal will reduce your weekly calorie deficit by 350 calories or 1/20th of a pound. You don't have to be perfect all the time. Just pretty good, most of the time.
  • Fair enough. You've gotta do what you think is right but I'll leave you with one last thought. If tablespoons are close enough, measuring is fine and quick adds are accurate, why has your weight loss stalled?
  • No one who holds a medical qualification would provide a diagnosis on a message board or without an examination/consultation. No insight, advice, opinion, comment or feedback offered by a layperson on a message board comes close to being a diagnosis. In fact, the phase 'see your doctor' or 'speak to a professional' is…
  • Simple. I don't do anything I find boring =) There are just way to many fun activities I can do to get fit that I just flat out refuse to do something I don't enjoy.
  • Get a handcycle =)
  • But you're not. Or more to the point even if you are weighing everything you're not logging the weights so you really have no idea how much your actually eating. Unless you're logging everything and logging it accurately there is no way you can be sure you're eating in a calorie deficit. Looking through your diary I notice…
  • Not at all. I was 25st 3 at the start of 2018, today I'm 18st 8 and by your standards I've 'cheated' practically every single day while losing weight. I too used to eat an ridiculous amount of "junk" food. Now I eat a reasonable (ie: within my calorie target) amount of "junk" food, regularly (including McDonalds, KFC and…
