I also have a weakness for desserts, and also chips. Especially while working a desk all day, after finishing my lunch I always wanted a treat, then mid-afternoon I was craving crunchy, salty chips. In the beginning I just made sure to find lower calorie options that I could have to fill the void. I love the yoplait…

I would say go and enjoy your meal out with your boyfriend! Last weekend was my first wedding anniversary with my husband. We went out to the restaurant that hosted our reception and we had a bruschetta plate to start, I ordered a linguine pasta, and had a chocolate cake for dessert. Drank 2 glasses of wine and a chai…

I like to buy pre-cooked grilled chicken breast strips, either refrigerated or frozen (Costco or Walmart are great for these) and toss it into anything pretty quick. In a pinch for lunch I will throw some frozen Green Giant mixed italian seasoned veggies and some precooked chicken strips into container that can be popped…

As someone who is part of this "statistic" of losing and regaining, I have to say it's not always *just* about hitting the finish line and going back to bad habits, or that you didn't lose weight in a sustainable way. I lost 25 lbs in 2012 and maintained that loss for just over a year. I can pinpoint the exact moment when…

I do. A night out can cost me 1000 calories in alcohol alone (usually consumed over many hours, but still). Not to mention the mindless snacking that usually goes with these events. If I didn't track it and try my best to make up for it on other non-drinking days I would have never lost weight.

Congrats on hitting your goal! My advice would definitely be to increase/change up your exercise. A lot of people here swear on heavy lifting, and that's great. It will undoubtedly give you great results. But some of us don't live or work near a gym, find it inconvenient, or do not have the funds (me, me, and me). The good…

I completed 3 rounds of T25 (Alpha, Beta, and Gamma) in the spring and lost 13.5 lbs in 14 weeks. I ate an average deficit of 500 calories per day to achieve 1 lb a week weight loss (except my birthday week when I ate to maintenance). I believe it was my diet that directly caused the weight loss. However, my muscle tone…

If he's anything like my husband, he will never want any "diet" treats you may make or buy, and will ALWAYS want oreos and ice cream. In the past whenever I lost weight I would buy or make my own "healthy" treats and eat them in small portions while he ate the good stuff. But of course this gets old and eventually I give…

Yes I put in all my information first. The fitbit tracks steps but it also tracks heart rate which I think is what it uses to estimate my calories burned. When I start and stop a workout I can press a button so it identifies it as a workout. On the computer I can get a graph showing my heart rate, steps, and calories…

I have the fitbit charge HR and I tend to do a lot of circuit based workouts, but I do them at home using DVD's (mostly beachbody programs). I recently tried out Insanity Max 30 which are the hardest 30 minute workouts I've ever done. I truly max out until I'm breathless, take a quick break and I'm right back in it. These…

Yeah I don't call them cheats really because I still try to log everything, regardless if it puts me over or not. If I know there's a social event coming up that will revolve around food and alcohol, I try to plan ahead. I keep a bit more of a deficit the days leading up, and usually can "bank" a good 500-700 calories.…

I really hate being the one to say, "I can't eat that because I'm trying to lose weight." I find people immediately look down at my body and either think something positive or negative. Either way I don't like drawing attention to it. I also really love pizza and social eating. I eat well at work and at home, so I plan…

I agree. When I realized I could measure out a half cup of ice cream, enjoy it, AND have it fit within my calories was the day I was a happy girl. I used to get annoyed when my husband bought a tub of ice cream. I wouldn't eat any of it because it was "bad". But my "low-calorie" chocolate crackers that I ate to substitute…

I've only been maintaining for a week, but it looks very similar to my weight loss stage. I can just eat a little more. It's only a difference of a couple hundred extra calories per day, so I use those to get a bit extra protein in my diet since I've amped up my workouts a little bit. I am still eating a slight deficit so…

One thing I recently added to my diet for added nutrition and calories are hemp hearts. They look like tiny little grains/seeds, don't taste like much of anything, and just 3 tbsp has 170 calories, 10g protein, 13g of fat. You just sprinkle them on anything really. Easy way to sneak in some calories!

I don't have a gym membership because a) cost and b) I don't live near one and my husband and I share a vehicle. I also don't do well when workouts last longer than 30-40 minutes from start to finish. Doing videos I have at home whenever I want without any other people around to annoy me works great. I am currently…

This was a great post! I like the analogy with marriage - it's so true. You don't expect to have the same thrill with your partner after 15 years of marriage that you did after 3 months dating. Not that it's not still a wonderful relationship, it's just different. It does take more work to keep the spark there. Just like…

I just wanted to pipe in and say you don't actually need to exercise to lose weight. I lost the most weight in the beginning before I incorporated any exercise. So don't worry about not losing weight on rest days. As long as each week, on average, you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose. It doesn't matter if…

I would say your burning more than you think. Since I got my fitbit Charge HR in March I've noticed I will get a lot of extra calories from walking around, doing chores, yard work, etc. If it's in your budget I would highly recommend the fitbit as I have been eating back all my exercise calories the fitbit gives me since…

What if instead of measuring and weighing every crumb, if you use the Quick Tools more frequently? Like if I've made my basic rotini pasta with some kind of sauce, vegetables, some kind of protein for supper, it's normally no more than 500 calories for the portion I dish out for myself. You could just "quick add" 500…

I tend to eat a delayed breakfast between 10-11 am despite getting out of bed around 6:30am. The way I see it is this: I personally live a very sedentary life outside of my daily exercise efforts. At 6:30 I roll out of bed, put on some clothes, freshen up in the bathroom, pack a lunch, walk a few steps to the car, drive,…

Love egg mcmuffins! If I'm in a pinch and trying to keep calories down I've been known to order it with no butter and no cheese. I eat ham and a fried egg on an english muffin at home often. This is no different IMO. My sister avoids gluten and has ordered one with no english muffin. She got a weird look, but it's still…

Why does one trip to McDonald's have to be the end? I've been in those moments when I say, screw it, I'm eating this, whether it's a big piece of cake, a big burger, seconds at a family dinner, whatever. But I always, always log it. I have days where I went over my goal by 1000 calories, sometimes more. It helps to log…

I eat chocolate most days. Don't substitute, you'll never really feel satisfied. Just control your portions. If I'm low on calories and desperate I might have a no sugar added chocolate pudding instead.

I am 5' 3.5" and started at 153 back in January. I feel like I've lost at a pretty steady pace, but have been hovering around 131-129 for about 3-4 weeks (not a big deal as I'm set to lose 0.5lb per week anyway). I set a goal of 128, so I'm very close, but I'd really like to keep my maintenance weight below 130 if…

I am 5'3.5", 26 years old and it's taken me 5 months to lose 23 lbs (153 to 130). 2 lbs from my goal (though secretly 5 lbs from my ultimate goal of 125) and I really hope to reach it by the 6 month mark :) I sometimes net under 1200, but I rarely eat less than 1400. I do over-do it most Saturday nights (alcohol and chips…

I'm wondering if you may be consuming a lot more than you think on weekends? On nights out with friends where there are snacks (chips, cheese and crackers, nachos, etc), maybe a bbq, and casual beers I can easily consume 2000 calories in that evening alone. Alcohol is super high in calories and if you drink to feel a…

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I binge drink (8+ drinks) probably once every 2 or 3 weeks. I rarely have a casual drink on a weeknight, maybe 1 or 2 drinks on a non-binge weekend. That being said, I usually will drink light beer or wine spritzers to keep alcohol content and calories down. Although, probably once a…
