  • As I promised, here are my photos. In order from left to right they show the start of alpha, the start of beta, and the end of gamma. I lost 2.5 inches in both my hips and waist, and 2 inches off my chest. I suppose it's hard to tell I've gained much muscle from the pictures, but I definitely feel a big improvement!
  • I still toy with joining a gym for the same reasons you've named. A couple years ago I took the money I could have spent on a year gym membership and bought a decent second hand treadmill for $400 and a set of second hand dumbbells (3 lb, 5 lb, and 8lb) for about $40. This has been enough to get myself down to a healthy…
  • I am currently in my last week of the Gamma Phase in T25, so I've been at this program nearly 14 weeks now. I am not sure how muscular you are looking to get, but I think this program did wonders for my muscles. I would say this program is designed for beginners. It progresses at a good pace to get you from completely out…
  • For me, it was actually more of a mental thing than anything. I still have to ask myself, am I really hungry? If I eat something and don't feel satisfied enough, I try to tell myself that I've given my body what it needs, and that's good enough. Being mindful has helped me. Chew slowly, taste what you're eating, and be…
  • I lost weight 3 years ago by eating differently than my now-husband. But of course that got old, I fell into old habits and gained it back. Now that I've lost the weight again I make the same meal for both of us, and I take a smaller portion. One thing that has helped me is not letting myself be starving when I get home.…

  • I also eat chocolate pretty much everyday. And not that bitter dark stuff, like milk chocolate extra-bad-for-you stuff. I eat about 150 calories worth after supper most nights (or some other dessert). Last night I ate 250 calories worth. I agree with previous posters' comments on not making it forbidden or bad. I've lost…
  • This meal I find to be so creamy and delicious that I feel like I'm consuming more calories than I am. It says it makes 6 servings, but my husband and I get 4 (his servings are bigger than mine though). I substitute full fat cheese for low fat and use it sparingly, I use low fat cream of chicken soup, extra lean ground…
  • I am the same! I've been waiting to eat my breakfast at around 10;30-11, I usually workout from 12-1 and then I eat a decent sized lunch around 1:15. Then I wait to eat my snack until almost 4 so I'm not racing for the snack cupboard when I get home to make supper at 6. It's still tempting to munch, but at least my stomach…
  • This is what I do. If I see a number lower than my last entry I log it. If it's up again the next day I don't log it, I just wait to see another number lower. Works for me!
  • I found this as well after joining MFP. Even when I eat 1500 calories per day I can hit nearly all of them except calcium because I don't/won't drink milk. I'd rather use 100+ calories on a small treat after dinner than drink a glass of milk I don't even enjoy. When I get to maintenance I think I will try to drink more…
  • I had the same opinion about black coffee. Eventually I switched to 2% milk with artificial sweetener to save calories, but then just said screw it and tried it black. I really didn't like it black at first, but now I actually dislike my coffee with anything in it. That was 3 years ago I made the switch. When I go to…

  • Everyone has offered great advice - I have been there as well. Once I actually went and burned off the excess calories I consumed at dinner. It was back when I first started out and I REALLY wanted kraft dinner with supper. So I made a box.. and ate exactly half the box. After I ate I logged it and it put me over my…
  • I always leave room in my calories for a "mindless" tv snack at night, but usually keep it within 100-150 calories. I make sure to count out my portion into a bowl and put the package away first. Popcorn or low-cal chip variations are good for me to get the sodium I'm craving. If I feel extra hungry I'll pour a huge glass…
  • I suppose I have cheat days, but I don't plan them. I don't go out of my way to eat over my goal, but when life happens, I'm not hard on myself. If co-workers go for a beer after work on Friday, I'll go have a beer even if it doesn't really fit in my calories for the day. If we get invited to a party, I'll log and exercise…
  • I am pretty sedentary and I have lost 9 lbs in 7 weeks without much exercise at all. On days I don't do any exercise I eat between 1200-1300 calories, and I will just eat back whatever exercise I do manage to fit in which generally isn't much more than 300 calories per day. So at the most I eat 1600, maybe 1700 on more…
  • I enjoyed your post. After finishing university 3 years ago I was at my heaviest (155lbs). That year I lost 20+ lbs and was the healthiest and fittest I had ever been. A puppy, a house, and a wedding later and I weighed just a couple pounds short of my heaviest weight at Christmas this year. Maintenance is clearly my…
  • Oh man I am with you on the snacking while cooking. I ALWAYS dug out the bag of chips and munched while I cooked. And then I'd still eat a huge portion of whatever I was cooking! So bad. Snacking is my biggest downfall and the area I am focusing on the most right now. One thing working for me right now is delaying my…
  • Yup! I joined a gym near my work so I fit in my weight lifting / circuit training at lunch (lately it's been 2 - 3 times per week but I hope to increase this to 3 - 4 days per week). Yes I get a little sweaty, yes it's a bit annoying sometimes, but it helps a lot. I have a treadmill at home and do my cardio workouts there…
  • I just need to point out that you can have a healthy meal at McDonalds.... I hate all this bashing of probably my favourite fast food place. I have ordered the grilled snack wrap without sauce and thrown away the wrap and cheese (aka, just a hunk of grilled chicken at this point). Then I'll get a side garden salad with…
